Chapter 3 The Two Unfamiliar Sisters

Not long after Namuzhong left, Hailanzhu's red eyes gradually returned to normal.

She stared in the direction he had left, a smile unconsciously creeping onto her lips. "Someone as outwardly expressive as you, trying to sow discord."

In her view, dealing with Namuzhong was not a difficult task; what she feared were people who were good at disguising themselves.

So she asked the system, "Tell me quickly, who are the enemies? Who are the friends?"

But there was no system voice coming from the empty room. She knew that the system was malfunctioning again, but she was used to it.

"Everyone else's system does its best to help their master complete the mission, but mine is practically useless," she murmured softly.

Seeing that the system still hadn't responded, she could only sort out the current situation herself. Unfortunately, there was too little information. The only thing she was certain of was that this Namuzhong wasn't someone who was genuinely good to the original owner.

Just then, a eunuch's shrill voice came from the doorway again, "Consort Zhuang has arrived."

Consort Zhuang was Bumbutai, whose nickname was Dayuer.

Upon hearing this, she quickly gestured for the young eunuch to let him in.

"May Your Highness, Consort Chen, enjoy boundless blessings and peace." As soon as Dayuer entered, she bowed respectfully to Hailanzhu, a stark contrast to Namuzhong's previous behavior.

No need for formalities.

Hailanzhu took a good look at Dayuer. She saw that Dayuer was dressed simply, with bright and piercing eyes, a straight nose, and an indescribable heroic spirit. She was also a rare beauty.

Based on her first impression of Hailanzhu, she did not seem like a malicious person.

"Thank you, Consort Xie." Dayuer slowly rose and said politely.

Just as Hailanzhu was about to ask Dayuer what business she had come for, she noticed a palace maid standing beside her and swallowed the question back down.

She felt that this palace maid was very likely the Jill that Namuzhong had mentioned.

So she deliberately used a sarcastic tone to probe, "Consort Zhuang came here to see if I'm dead or not, but unfortunately, you can't have your wish."

"Sister, you've misunderstood..."

As expected, before Da Yu'er could finish speaking, the palace maid beside her interrupted, "How can Consort Chen think like that? Her mistress only came to check on your illness out of kindness. It's not as bad as you make it out to be."

Upon hearing this, Da Yu'er quickly stopped her, "Jil, you must not say any more."

Just as Hailanzhu had thought, this palace maid was indeed Ji'er. As expected of someone trained by Namuzhong, she didn't even care about the difference between superiors and inferiors.

Gil ignored her and continued to sneer, "If I had known it would turn out like this, I shouldn't have let Your Highness come here, so you wouldn't have to suffer all this trouble."

Seeing that Gilbi's attitude was even more like that of a master than her own, Hailanzhu couldn't help but snort coldly. She then got out of bed and walked step by step towards him, her gaze stern as she said, "Since when has a servant been allowed to interrupt when the master is speaking?"

“How can a servant sit idly by while her mistress is wronged?” Jill retorted, completely disregarding Hailanzhu.

"Heh..." Hailanzhu scoffed, "I was just joking with my sister, and you, you lowly servant, actually twisted my intentions."

"How dare I, it was clearly you..."

Fearing that Jill would continue, Da Yu'er quickly grabbed her sleeve, signaling her to shut up.

He then apologized to Hailanzhu, saying, "Jil is always outspoken, so I hope you will be magnanimous and not hold a grudge against her."

"Then why do I have to argue with her?" Hailanzhu had barely finished speaking when she quickly raised her hand and slapped Jill across the face.

With a loud slap, half of Jill's face was swollen and red.

“Your Highness, Consort Chen…” Jill angrily pointed at Hailanzhu.

Hailanzhu raised an eyebrow and asked, "What? As Consort Chen and the head of the Four Consorts, am I not even allowed to hit a mere servant?"

Seeing this, Da Yu'er quickly stepped forward to persuade her, "Sister, please calm down. You have just recovered, so you must not upset yourself." After saying that, she turned to Jill and said seriously, "Get out of here now."

"Hmph!" Jill glared at Hailanzhu and left indignantly.

After she left, Hailanzhu softened her tone and said to Dayuer, "Is this how you usually teach your servants?"

Da Yu'er didn't take it to heart: "In the deep palace, there are very few people who can be genuine, so why should I stifle them?"

Hailanzhu understood that Da Yu'er saw her own past self in Ji'er, which was why she was so indulgent towards her. It was just a pity that Da Yu'er did not know that Ji'er's frankness was an act.

Thinking of this, Hailanzhu couldn't help but sigh.

Da Yu'er laughed and said, "Why are you sighing, sister? You have the Emperor's favor, you can have whatever you want."

Hailanzhu shook her head and did not speak.

Seeing this, Da Yu'er stopped talking.

The two fell silent, and after the silence came a sense of helplessness.

To break the awkward silence, Hailanzhu quickly used her mind to ask the system for help, "Please help me, this can't go on like this."

As long as Da Yu'er didn't say she wanted to leave, she really couldn't ask her to leave, because doing so would only worsen their relationship. After all, Da Yu'er was the one who would assist two generations of emperors in the future. If she wanted to fulfill the original owner's wishes, it would be best for her to be on the same side as Da Yu'er.

The system didn't respond for a while, and just when Hailanzhu thought the system was going to hang up, she heard a voice in her ear: "What's the rush? You'll have some questions to discuss soon."

As soon as she finished speaking, a blue snake, its tongue flicking, unknowingly slithered under Da Yu'er's skirt.

"careful!"

Hailanzhu screamed, quickly dragged Dayuer behind her, and picked up the teacup on the table, smashing it hard against the snake's vital spot.

The green snake, in pain, immediately turned and fled. By the time the eunuch heard the sound and came in, the green snake had already run far away.

This cannot be blamed on the eunuch, after all, it is more than ten meters away from the main gate to the palace.

"Master, what has happened?" the little eunuch asked, standing at the door with his head bowed.

"It's alright, you may leave. I will summon you if needed," Hailanzhu said, waving her hand.

"twitter!"

The young eunuch, unaware of what was happening inside, assumed that the two masters were arguing again, so he bowed and withdrew.

After the eunuch left, Hailanzhu asked anxiously, "Yu'er, are you alright? Did it bite you anywhere?"

"Yu'er?" Da Yu'er stared at Hailanzhu in astonishment, completely disregarding her initial fright, and asked incredulously, "Sister, you called me Yu'er, not Bumbutai?"

Hailanzhu lowered her eyes slightly. She never expected that the original owner would be so estranged from Dayuer. Suddenly, a small, intimate address could leave Dayuer stunned.

"Can't we call it that now?" Hailanzhu retorted.

“No…” Dayuer hurriedly waved her hand, her eyes glistening with tears: “I’m just too happy. That’s what you called me when we were in Khorchin, sister.”

Seeing Da Yu'er's joyful expression, Hailanzhu felt very sad. She couldn't understand why the original owner didn't trust her own sister but believed Namuzhong, who had come halfway through the journey.
