Su knew that Gao was doing it for her own good, but she genuinely felt that Xueying was a friend worth confiding in. In fact, she even wanted to bring Gao to Xueying's side so that she wouldn't have to worry about the main wife bullying Xueying.
“Xi Yue, I know you mean well, but I’ve been dating Consort Xue for so long, and she has always treated me very well. She has never done anything to hurt me, and I can tell she has a kind heart. Since Su was willing to associate with the concubine, she wouldn't interfere anymore. Seeing the peonies blooming in the courtyard, she felt a surge of anger. These were peonies she'd brought from home, a gift she'd given Su when they first met. Thinking of how close they used to be, and how things had turned out this way because of Ulanara Xueying, Gao quickened her pace and left Su's courtyard.
Madam Su wanted to stop her, but because she was pregnant, she dared not step forward. Watching Madam Gao storm off, Madam Su felt a pang of resentment. How could Madam Gao have such a strong prejudice against Xueying? They usually had no interaction; logically, Madam Gao shouldn't be so hostile towards her.
She and Gao were such good sisters, but they had fallen out like this today. Gao said she would never come to her place again. She didn't know if she was just saying it in anger or if she meant it. Thinking of this, she felt a little uncomfortable in her stomach and quickly asked Liu Mama to help her up.
Seeing that Madam Su was worried about this matter, Granny Liu wanted to comfort her. "Sisterhood in the inner quarters comes and goes quickly. Madam Gao doesn't understand you, so there's no need for you to rush to explain."
Madam Su felt that what Granny Liu said made sense. She had become close to Madam Gao because neither of them could win the Prince's favor, and they naturally became friends out of a sense of kinship. Now that she thought about it, Madam Gao was impatient and prone to impulsive actions; perhaps she would understand in a couple of days.
Madam Su thought that Xueying was gentle and efficient, and compared to Xueying, Xueying was indeed more suitable as a friend, and might be of great help to her in the future. Madam Su was in severe abdominal pain, fearing that she had threatened miscarriage, so she asked Liu Mama to take her to her room to rest.
