Chapter 12 My Fierce Wife

Chapter 12 My Fierce Wife

"What did your ex-wife say? Will she come back when Gou'er grows up?" Zhang Xiuhua continued to ask.

Ji Huaizhi thought for a moment and then shook his head: "She won't come back."

"What if? What if she comes back and wants to live with you, or wants to have children?" she continued to press.

“No way. Gou’er’s child is mine, and I definitely won’t give it to her. Gou’er herself knows that her mother ran away and is living a good life. Why should I, Ji Huaizhi, give her my child?”

Ji Huaizhi said in a deep voice, "Besides, she's a college student now, how could she possibly come back to live with me? Aunt, I can never see Li Chuncao again."

After hearing what she said, Zhang Xiuhua smiled and said to the Feng family, "Actually, this question was asked by that girl from the Feng family."

“She has two brothers, and she herself is also capable, with a job in the city. She has a straightforward personality. Only a quiet person like you can keep a wife like her.”

Ji Huaizhi asked in confusion, "She would be interested in me?"

"She doesn't mind that I have a daughter?"

Zhang Xiuhua told her about Feng Qiaoxiang's previous relationship: "She was still a girl when she got married and came back with the wedding party. That's how it got delayed."

“I heard from your cousin’s wife that Qiaoxiang really likes your daughter. If you two really get together, you’ll be getting a great deal.”

She has a regular job, which is why many people are willing to propose marriage to her.

Because of her bad luck in finding the right person, Feng Qiaoxiang is extra cautious about her next relationship.

But those people thought she was already a second-time bride, and that anyone could come to her door to propose marriage, with an air of contempt, so they all threw her out.

That's how her reputation for being outspoken and picky spread.

Judging from his nephew's red ear tips, you could tell he meant it.

This was within Zhang Xiuhua's expectations; after all, she was not quite a good match for Ji Huaizhi.

But everyone thinks their own child is the best.

With Feng Qiaoxiang's delay, the men introduced to her were all divorced men with children, so it wasn't a big deal that Ji Huaizhi had a daughter.

It's mainly the Ji family's side.

“If you have that intention, your aunt will speak to your Aunt Feng tomorrow, and Qiaoxiang might even want to have a private chat with you.”

"I'll listen to my aunt."

Everyone in the village knows each other, so if something happens, it will probably be spread around in no time.

So Feng Qiaoxiang took half a day off, and Zhang Xiuhua used the excuse of having Ji Huaizhi check up on his medical condition to meet the two in a small park in the city.

Zhang Xiuhua also brought Ji Gou'er with her.

"You two go and chat, I'm taking the dog to buy some things." As she spoke, Zhang Xiuhua slipped a few banknotes into Ji Huaizhi's pocket.

"Huaizhi, don't just sit there, buy Qiaoxiang a bottle of soda."

Ji Huaizhi nodded, and as the two walked toward the park, Ji Gou'er followed with his short legs, his face beaming with the joy of going to the park.

“My little darling, your great-aunt is taking you to buy chicken cakes.”

Ji Gou'er was taken aback: "Dad."

"Daddy has something to say to your Aunt Qiaoxiang." He turned her head and straightened her heavy cotton coat. "Do you like Aunt Qiaoxiang?"

"Hello, sister." She gave her a peanut and spoke very gently.

"Call me Auntie," Zhang Xiuhua said with a smile, feeling that the marriage was almost a done deal.

“Sister,” Ji Gou’er corrected.

Zhang Xiuhua didn't argue with the child. Instead, she took the child's cold little hand and asked, "How about Aunt Qiaoxiang be your mother from now on?"

Ji Gou'er fell silent.

The word "mother" was completely foreign to her.

Everyone else has a mother, but she doesn't. People say her mother doesn't want her anymore.

“My mother doesn’t want me anymore.” She said this so fluently that Zhang Xiuhua was stunned, and her heart softened a little.

“Your sister Qiaoxiang is very good. If she were your mother, no one would bully you.”

Ji Gou'er blinked, and as his great-aunt pulled him away, he looked back and said, "I want my sister to be my mother."

She's pretty, she gets food, and most importantly, she'll have a mother someday.

Zhang Xiuhua didn't hear what she was saying and pulled her to go shopping.

Ji Huaizhi remained silent the whole way, leaving Feng Qiaoxiang unsure of what to say. Just as she was about to speak, she saw him limping toward a small stall.

When he returned, he had a bottle of orange soda in his hand: "Comrade Feng, please have some soda."

Feng Qiaoxiang couldn't help but laugh when she heard his tone: "Are you nervous?"

Ji Huaizhi pursed his lips: "We need to return this bottle to the boss later."

Feng Qiaoxiang nodded, then looked down at his legs: "When will your legs get better?"

"I don't know, but I can work now. Actually, I can work in the fields now, but my uncle and aunt are too worried. Otherwise, I could get full work points."

The man in front of me spoke in a simple and honest manner, without the arrogance of other men.

This kind of person is probably what people call an honest person.

Feng Qiaoxiang was used to having her own ideas and hated men telling her how women should behave, nor did she like being looked down upon. At that time, everyone admired the idea that women could hold up half the sky and were just as capable.

She felt that others were looking down on her when they said those things.

“I know, my mom said you’re very hardworking, and you kept Uncle Wang’s house very clean.”

"Would you mind if a woman took the lead in the household in the future?" Feng Qiaoxiang asked, then added, fearing he might misunderstand, "But I definitely won't make any decisions at home by myself."

“Let’s discuss it together. I’ll discuss it with you, and you can discuss it with me.”

Nowadays, men are in charge, but she felt that Ji Huaizhi's personality was not suitable for that.

Ji Huaizhi nodded to indicate that he agreed with her: "You know that I have a daughter."

Feng Qiaoxiang nodded.

"If you don't like her, you can't hit her or scold her, and you can't stop me from being good to her. I will send her to school, feed her well, and not make her work non-stop."

Ji Huaizhi finished speaking in a calm and measured tone.

Feng Qiaoxiang immediately understood the meaning: he had a stepmother.

"I, Feng Qiaoxiang, am not that kind of person. I'm protective of my own, and even if I don't like her, I won't stop you from being good to her." Actually, she should be angry. What kind of person did he think she was?

But then I realized that what he was talking about was all based on his own experiences.

Ji Huaizhi showed his first smile of the day, his numb eyes meeting a glimmer of starlight.

It looks quite pleasing.

"However, I have a request. Can you agree to it?"

Ji Huaizhi put away his big teeth: "You tell me."
