Jiang Lianshan looked down at little Zhou Xian, satisfaction and joy showing on his tired face.
He carefully picked up the child, and like a magic trick, he took out a longevity lock from his arms and shook it. The bells hanging on it jingled, attracting the attention of little Zhou Xian, who giggled.
Seeing him smile, Jiang Lianshan also smiled, and his cold and hard face softened a lot.
Meng Wanjie and a few others also gathered around and looked at the child in his arms smiling happily.
Jiang Ling wanted to go to the outer room to take a look, but Zhou Jing'an held her down and prevented her from moving. Jiang Lianshan also turned around to look at her and said, "Lie down well and don't move."
When she came, Meng Wanjie told him about the dangerous situation she faced during childbirth. He took a good look at her first and asked a series of questions that almost stunned Jiang Ling. After he finally told him that it was okay and brought the baby to him to take care of it to divert his attention, he was scolded again.
Jiang Ling had no choice but to lie back down obediently. She couldn't help laughing as she watched them playing with the child in the outer room.
After enjoying his grandson enough, Jiang Lianshan put the child back and went back to the main hall. He said to Jiang Ling, "I found a piece of stone for you. It's very beautiful and I brought it back from southern Xinjiang. But it's with the main force, so it will take a few days to arrive."
She smiled and said, "Okay, thank you, Dad."
They chatted for a while, and Jiang Ling saw that he looked tired, so she advised him to go back and rest.
"Okay, I'll come back tomorrow to attend my grandson's full moon banquet." Jiang Lianshan smiled and left with Meng Wanjie and others.
Out of sympathy for Jiang Ling and wanting her to recuperate for a few more days, Jiang Ling showed up at the full-moon banquet. She was wrapped so tightly that her face was almost invisible. She came out to greet the guests and was then hugged and carried back to Qiyun Pavilion by Zhou Jing'an.
Zhou Xian’s full-moon banquet was held with great fanfare. Many of the most prominent figures in the capital came to visit, and he received a large number of precious gifts.
As the protagonist of the banquet, Zhou Xian undoubtedly became the focus.
Jiang Lan and Xia Zhixian took turns holding him, and the wives of the officials gathered around, chatting and joking. Zhou Xian didn't cry or make a fuss, but just rolled around with his big eyes open, which made everyone feel curious.
Their arms were sore from hugging each other, and Zhou Ke then carried them to show off to his old friends.
"Look at my great-grandson. He's sure to be handsome when he grows up. He's got a strong little body, and he'll be a man of both letters and martial arts, just like me."
The old man was in very good spirits and grinned.
His old friends laughed and said that he was bragging like Wang Po selling melons, saying that he was praising his great-grandson, but in fact he was praising himself as well.
Zhou Huaixin has always been a steady person, but at this moment, his face was full of joy. He was toasting with his friends. Urged by them, he reluctantly brought the child to show them, but he was careful with his movements and his eyes were full of love when he looked at Zhou Xian.
Being caught by his friend and teased for a while, his eyes wandered. He was startled by Zhou Xian's bright eyes, then he smiled gently. Without arguing, he just said, "I love my grandson very much."
So little Zhou Xian was held in the arms of several people in turn, and Jiang Lianshan took the opportunity to give him a good kiss. The little guy was not afraid at all in front of so many people, and even smiled at them.
Jiang Ling was far away in Qiyun Pavilion but could still hear the hustle and bustle in the banquet hall. Thinking about her son being looked at like a rare animal, she couldn't help but laugh.
"What are you laughing at, Ling'er?"
Zhou Jing'an walked in and saw her smiling foolishly with her eyes lowered.
Her smile deepened. "I'm laughing at your son, being passed around like some rare object."
He also laughed. This was indeed the scene before him.
Jiang Ling asked her, "Why are you here? Why don't you go to the front to entertain the guests?"
Zhou Jingan sat down next to her and touched her hand. "They kept pestering me to drink, and I held the child in my arms and looked after them for a long time. I was very tired, so I took a break and came to accompany you."
"Are you hungry?" he asked with concern.
Jiang Ling shook her head. "I just had a bowl of red date and barley porridge. I'm very full."
She just took a quick look at the gifts that were delivered, and they were truly dazzling.
Speaking of this, Jiang Ling couldn't help laughing. He asked Zizhen to bring in a wooden box. When he opened it, he saw a bunch of golden longevity locks inside.
She picked them up one by one and looked at them, saying to him, "Let's not talk about the ones given by others, we have a lot of longevity locks given by our close friends."
"You and my grandparents sent it, my parents sent it, my brother and sister-in-law sent it, the Empress sent it, Doctor He and Wanran also sent one each, and my aunt, uncle, and uncle also sent one."
Even Zhou Jing'an's aunt, whom she had never met, sent many gifts, including a longevity lock.
She counted them carefully and found that there were more than a dozen.
Jiang Ling pointed out the window and chuckled, "What my son is wearing around his neck is made by me."
Zhou Jingan couldn't help laughing, "It's too tight around his neck."
"Yes." Jiang Ling closed the wooden box and said with a smile: "With so many longevity locks, he will definitely live a long life."
On the third day after Zhou Xian's full moon banquet, Yin Jie, Qi Tianyang and other generals led 10,000 soldiers back to the capital. They also brought back the wonderful stone that Jiang Lianshan mentioned and moved it directly to Zhou Mansion. It is now placed in the main hall of Qiyun Pavilion.
Jiang Ling sat on the bed and carefully observed the stone. It was half a person's height, and the color was nothing interesting, just gray, but it looked pretty.
She tilted her head to look around and said in amazement, "It looks like a butterfly."
Zhou Jingan nodded, "Yes."
Or a butterfly flapping its wings and flying.
"I don't know where Dad found this, it's really beautiful." Jiang Ling held little Zhou Xian in her arms and pointed at the stone, saying, "Isn't it beautiful? This is what your grandfather brought back from southern Xinjiang."
