"Is anyone home? We'd like to stay the night, for a fee," Wei Yucheng called out towards a farmer's house.
At this moment, the people inside heard Wei Yucheng's shout and a woman came out, looking at Wei Yucheng with a puzzled expression.
"Hello, we are two people who have fallen on hard times here and would like to ask for lodging for the night. We will pay you, is that alright?" Wei Yuchen said to the woman in a friendly manner.
"Of course you can stay here, come in quickly." Upon hearing that the two had met with misfortune, the woman quickly opened the gate and let them in.
"Thank you," Lin Han said to the woman as she entered.
"Oh, it's nothing, no need to be so polite. You're so pretty, young lady, you and this young man are such a perfect match." The woman waved her hand repeatedly and said to Lin Han, seeing how polite she was.
"Old Guo! Come out quickly! We have guests!" the woman said, turning around and calling into the house.
Then a farmer came out of the house, saw Lin Han and the other person, and greeted them in a very friendly manner.
"Welcome, welcome! Are you two lost?" The farmer could tell what was going on by looking at the luxurious fabric of their clothes, but he pretended not to know.
Lin Han naturally followed the farmer's words and said, "Yes, my husband and I were passing through here and got lost, so we came to stay for the night."
When Wei Yucheng heard Lin Han address him as "husband," he didn't show it on his face, but his eyes were filled with joy.
"Alright, let me take you to tidy up your rooms first." Seeing this, the woman led them directly to the small house next door.
After tidying up briefly inside and laying out the bedding, he left Lin Han and the other person in the room and went back to his own room.
Lin Han looked at the only bed and blanket in the room, a hint of smugness flashing in her eyes.
"There's only one blanket. How about we squeeze in together tonight?" Lin Han asked Wei Yuchen tentatively.
Wei Yuchen, however, agreed with an unreadable expression. If it weren't for his slightly reddened ears, Lin Han would have really thought he didn't care.
After finishing dinner at the farmer's house, Lin Han sat on the bed and started kicking the air out of boredom.
Lin Han was wearing the old clothes that belonged to the farmer and his wife.
Their clothes were simply too eye-catching; wherever they went, people would know they were no ordinary people. If the assassins found out, things would get bad.
Aren't you sleepy yet?
After taking a shower and changing her clothes, Wei Yuchen came in and saw Lin Han sitting by the bed, seemingly lost in thought.
"I can't sleep, I'm so bored, it's still too early." Lin Han said to Wei Yuchen, swinging her legs listlessly.
Seeing that Lin Han was not sleepy at all, Wei Yuchen suggested teaching her to recite poems, but Lin Han immediately rejected the idea.
"You're really dedicated! Even now that we're here, you still remember to let me learn." Lin Han was truly impressed by Wei Yucheng's thought process and couldn't help but sigh.
“I often see you getting sleepy when you study, so I wanted to see if it was really that magical.” Wei Yucheng laughed when he saw Lin Han’s intense reaction.
Upon hearing this, Lin Han felt as if an arrow had pierced her heart; it was truly a case of killing someone by breaking their spirit.
"I'm not going to talk anymore, I'm going to sleep. I'm sleepy." Lin Han decisively ended the unpleasant topic, climbed to the innermost part of the bed, lay down, and closed her eyes to sleep.
"Look how amazing it is, you get sleepy as soon as you think about studying." Wei Yucheng teased Lin Han after she went to sleep obediently.
He was met with Lin Han's merciless snorts.
Seeing that Lin Han was asleep, Wei Yucheng also lay down, covered himself with the quilt, and closed his eyes to sleep, but there was always a huge gap between the two of them.
And so, the two of them spent the night without dreams, quietly passing the night.
