After the matchmaker left, a suffocating atmosphere filled the room. Su Yao sat on the edge of the bed and cried uncontrollably. Zhao Yu, standing nearby, felt both helpless and heartbroken. He went to Su Yao's side and gently patted her back, comforting her, "Alright, Su Yao, don't cry anymore. It's not good for your health." Su Yao's crying gradually subsided, but her shoulders were still trembling.
After Su Yao's crying subsided, Zhao Yu asked, "Su Yao, how did you fall into the water today? I saw you and Lin Qian fall in together, but when I went into the water to save you, only you were in the water. Where was Lin Qian?" Upon hearing this, Su Yao's tears, which had just stopped, welled up again, and her lips trembled as she was unable to speak.
Zhao Yu frowned and said, "Su Yao, stop crying. You need to explain things clearly before I can help you solve the problem." But Su Yao just kept sobbing. Zhao Yu's patience wore thin, and he raised his voice, "If you keep crying like this and don't say anything, how am I supposed to know what happened?" Su Yao was so frightened that she cried even harder.
Zhao Yu realized his tone was off and, after calming himself down, said softly again, "I'm not blaming you, I just want to get to the bottom of things. Think about what happened calmly." However, Su Yao remained lost in her emotions and couldn't answer.
Zhao Yu fell into deep thought, recalling the scene, his heart filled with doubt. At this moment, Su Yao's crying gradually stopped, and she said with a confused and fearful look in her eyes, "Zhao Yu, I really don't know what to do." Zhao Yu softened and held her hand, saying, "Don't be afraid, we'll think of a solution together. Try to recall what happened again carefully."
After closing her eyes and recalling the incident, Su Yao said, "Lin Qian and I were by the river when we had an argument. I felt someone push me and I fell into the water. I struggled desperately to grab Lin Qian's clothes, and we both fell in." Zhao Yu asked in confusion, "Then why did I only find you in the water and not Lin Qian?" Su Yao shook her head and said, "I don't know. After falling into the water, I don't remember anything. I only remember struggling desperately to survive." Zhao Yu looked at Su Yao, his heart filled with conflict, unsure whether to believe her.
After leaving Su Yao's room, Zhao Yu felt extremely heavy-hearted. As he walked, he kept replaying the events of the day in his mind. From the moment he saw Su Yao and Lin Qian fall into the water together, to his desperate search for Lin Qian in the water to no avail, to Su Yao's attitude of only crying and not answering when he asked her, all of this filled him with immense confusion and anger.
Zhao Yu's steps were heavy, his fists clenched unconsciously, and anger burned within him. He didn't understand why Su Yao was reacting this way, why she wouldn't tell him the truth. He felt as if he had been kept in the dark, a feeling that made him extremely uncomfortable.
He took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger. He told himself he couldn't let his emotions control him; he had to calm down to find a solution. He stood in the yard for a while, letting the cool night breeze caress his face, attempting to calm himself.
After a while, Zhao Yu felt his emotions had stabilized somewhat. He decided to go find Lin Qian, thinking that perhaps she could give him some answers. He knew this matter needed to be clarified; it couldn't just pass by in ambiguity.
Zhao Yu walked towards Lin Qian's room, his feelings still very complicated. He didn't know how Lin Qian would view this matter, nor did he know if he could get the answers he wanted from her. However, he knew he had to try; only in this way could he unravel the mystery in his heart.
After some thought, Zhao Yu decided to go find Lin Qian and ask her for clarification. He went to Lin Qian's door and gently knocked.
The door opened, and Lin Qian saw Zhao Yu. A complex emotion flashed in her eyes. Zhao Yu said, "Lin Qian, I want to talk to you."
Lin Qian didn't speak, but nodded silently, and then followed Zhao Yu out of the educated youth settlement and came to the edge of the woods.
After the two stopped, Zhao Yu's eyes were filled with concern and doubt. He asked anxiously, "Lin Qian, I want to ask what happened today about Su Yao falling into the river? I saw you and Su Yao fall into the river at the same time. I ran over to try to save you, but I couldn't find you. I'm really worried about you."
Lin Qian looked at Zhao Yu, a flash of anger in her eyes, and said coldly, "Zhao Yu, it was Su Yao who pushed me into the river."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Yu's face showed disbelief. He frowned and said, "Lin Qian, are you mistaken? How could Su Yao push you into the river?"
Lin Qian snorted and said, "Zhao Yu, you still don't believe Su Yao's true colors? You heard her threatening and framing me last time, and she even plotted to harm me. She's a vicious person!"
A struggle flashed in Zhao Yu's eyes. He shook his head and said, "No, Su Yao... she wasn't like this before. She was very innocent and kind when she was little. She always loved to cling to me. I don't believe she would become like this."
Seeing Zhao Yu's stubbornness, Lin Qian felt a little disappointed. She said, "Zhao Yu, wake up! Su Yao is no longer the person you remember. She's capable of anything to achieve her goals now."
Zhao Yu remained silent for a while, still unwilling to believe Lin Qian's words. He said, "Lin Qian, I think there might be a misunderstanding here. I still need to ask Su Yao to clarify things."
Hearing Zhao Yu's words, Lin Qian's anger was reignited. She raised her voice and said, "Zhao Yu, how long are you going to keep being deceived by Su Yao? She has hurt me time and time again, but you still refuse to believe me!"
Looking at the angry Lin Qian, Zhao Yu felt a little irritated. He said, "Lin Qian, it's not that I don't trust you, I just want to get to the bottom of things. After all, Su Yao used to be such a pure and kind person in my heart, and I find it hard to believe that she would do such a thing."
