Everyone was discussing it, each one of them worried about Su Yao.
Finally, Grandpa Su spoke up: "Do as you say. You must bring Yao Yao back safely, and at the same time, Wang Qiang's mother must be punished as she deserves."
The second brother of the Su family immediately got up, ready to set off to pick up Su Yao. His eyes were filled with determination, and he secretly vowed to ensure that his sister would never be harmed again.
That day, the once peaceful village was broken by the cheers of children. A brand-new jeep sped into the village and headed straight for the brigade headquarters. The dust kicked up by the wheels was particularly conspicuous in the sunlight, attracting many villagers to stop and watch.
After the car stopped, a handsome man with impeccable style and an extraordinary demeanor stepped out. His posture was upright, and every gesture exuded confidence and composure. His handsome face and deep-set eyes drew attention.
The man walked steadily into the brigade headquarters, and the villagers speculated about the stranger's purpose. About half an hour later, the brigade leader and village chief saw him out with smiles. Their expressions suggested the meeting had been quite pleasant.
The man got into the jeep, which started again and drove towards the educated youth settlement. The car stopped at the entrance, and the man got out. Zhao Yu, seeing the man, beamed with surprise and quickly called out, "Second Brother Su!"
Su Erge nodded slightly in response. His eyes held a hint of barely perceptible fatigue, yet he maintained his elegant demeanor. Seeing this, Zhao Yu quickly asked Liu Cui to go inside and call Su Yao out.
At this moment, some villagers who loved to watch the excitement also came to the educated youth settlement. Among them was Wang Qiang's mother. When she saw Su Erge, her eyes lit up, and she immediately went up to him to strike up a conversation.
"Oh, this must be Su Yao's brother? Are you here to help Su Yao? Are you going to arrange for her to marry my Wang Qiang?" Wang Qiang's mother said with a beaming smile, her eyes full of anticipation.
Upon hearing this, Su Erge's face revealed a half-smile. He found it quite amusing, thinking to himself, "Their eldest daughter, Su, would marry a country bumpkin? That's just wishful thinking." However, his expression remained unchanged; he simply watched the incessantly chattering village woman in front of him as if he were watching a farce.
Lin Qian stood at a distance, quietly watching this scene. Her eyes held a hint of coldness and mockery, showing utter disdain for Wang Qiang's mother's behavior. Su Erge noticed a gaze fixed on him. He looked up and saw Lin Qian standing in the distance. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, followed by a slight smile and a nod, a gesture of greeting. Lin Qian returned the nod, but her face remained largely expressionless.
Su Yao came out of the house. As soon as she saw Su Erge, her tears flowed like a burst dam. Without hesitation, she threw herself into Su Erge's arms, her body trembling and her cries filled with grievance and pain.
Su Erge looked at his younger sister in his arms with heartache. The cheerful, bright, and charming sister from two months ago had become so haggard. Her eyes were swollen and red like walnuts, and she had lost a lot of weight. Su Erge gently patted Su Yao's back and comforted her, "Yao Yao, don't be afraid, brother is here. Everything will be alright." His voice was gentle but firm, trying to give Su Yao some sense of security.
Watching this scene, the captain felt a wave of helplessness and exhaustion. He frowned, impatiently waving his hand to chase away the onlookers. "Send them away, what's so interesting!" His voice carried a hint of annoyance.
At this moment, Su Erge looked at the brigade leader and said politely, "Brigade leader, I came here to resolve these matters. I'm sorry to have troubled you and the village chief during this time." He had a polite smile on his face, but his eyes revealed a firm determination.
Upon hearing this, the brigade leader breathed a sigh of relief and quickly said, "Comrade Su, it's wonderful that you're here to handle these matters. The village has indeed been somewhat unsettled lately because of these issues, and we hope to resolve them as soon as possible."
Su Erge nodded and said, "Don't worry, Captain, I will handle things as soon as possible and try my best not to cause any more trouble for the village."
The captain replied, "That's good, that's good. Comrade Su, please don't hesitate to ask if there's anything we can help you with."
After Su Erge expressed his gratitude again, the captain left. Su Erge looked down at Su Yao in his arms and said softly, "Yao Yao, I will definitely get justice for you." Su Yao nodded in Su Erge's arms, and her sobs gradually subsided.
After the crowd dispersed, Su Erge took some gifts from the car and walked towards the group of educated youth at the settlement. He had a gentle smile on his face, but his eyes revealed a hint of fatigue.
"Thank you all for taking care of Su Yao during this time," Su Erge said sincerely, handing the gifts to the educated youth one by one. The educated youth responded politely, their faces showing expressions of gratitude or joy.
Su Erge arrived at Lin Qian's door and gently knocked. Lin Qian opened the door and saw Su Erge; a complex emotion flashed in her eyes.
Su Erge smiled and handed the gift to Lin Qian, saying, "This is a small token of my appreciation. Thank you for your concern for Su Yao."
Lin Qian glanced at Su Erge, but didn't reach out to take the gift. She said calmly, "I didn't do anything, so I can't accept this gift." After saying that, she closed the door without any hesitation.
The smile on Su Erge's face vanished instantly, replaced by a blank expression. A flicker of doubt and displeasure crossed his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. He stood there, silently staring at the closed door, lost in thought.
