Further down, a dense layer of moving things came into view. Getting closer, Xiang Wan could see clearly that they were long-legged crabs, ferocious sea monsters that fed on carrion and would attack each other. Their numbers were immense; even the most savage sea monsters would give them a wide berth.
They prefer to live in the dark depths of underwater canyons, feeding on the carcasses of any creatures that fall from above.
Xiang Wan felt a chill run down her spine, and her swimming speed decreased.
The place with the most long-legged crabs was a rotting whale carcass, with exposed bones already visible. Countless long-legged crabs went in and out of it, the crunching sounds of them feeding never ceasing.
Sensing the change in the water flow, many long-legged crabs stopped what they were doing, extending their front claws toward Xiang Wan and the Sirens, as if they would swarm them if they dared to fall in.
About ten meters from the seabed, the siren stopped and emitted a sound that Xiang Wan had never heard before, somewhat like singing, yet also like a sharp whistle.
Before long, the seabed began to tremble, and the vibrations grew stronger and stronger. The long-legged crabs scurried into the mudflats on both sides and into the caves along the canyon.
Then, Xiang Wan saw a pair of round, dark blue eyes with a reddish tinge rise from the mud, slide around quickly a few times, and shake off all the mud covering the area.
Immediately afterwards, a pair of enormous pincers emerged from the canyon, bracing against the rocks on both sides, revealing the entire body.
When it revealed its full appearance, Xiang Wan's eyes widened in disbelief. Why? Because she had never seen such an ugly crab before; it was so ugly she was speechless.
