Chapter 123 The Scheme of the Woman Who Slaughtered the Family (The End)

A gentle night breeze blew, and the cool wind brushed against my cheeks.

Shi Lan sat on the soft, flat cushion with her knees drawn up to her chest, gazing at the endless rice paddies, and exclaimed in amazement, "So beautiful!"

The golden rice paddies, which shone brightly during the day, were now bathed in moonlight. In the hazy glow, waves rippled outwards, like gentle waves lapping against the shore.

Rong Qing turned his head to look at the little figure in front of him and said softly, "I'm leaving."

Shi Lan turned her head, looking at him with a confused expression, "Leave? Where are you going?"

Rong Qing looked up at the wheat fields and said cryptically, "Go where I should go."

Shi Lan blinked, looking puzzled.

It looked soft and cuddly, with a confused expression.

Rong Qing smiled and ruffled the hair on her head.

Shi Lan tilted her head, frowned angrily, and glared at him with her dark eyes.

There was a rustling sound in the distance, as if a breeze was blowing.

Rong Qing raised his long eyebrows that reached his temples, glanced at the source of the voice with his deep eyes, his expression suddenly hardened, his long legs tensed, and he leaped up from the ground.

Shi Lan looked up and stared at him, puzzled.

Rong Qing's gaze turned cold as he quickly scanned his surroundings.

The guards who had been standing far away on the perimeter had disappeared without a trace. Rong Qing's voice was somewhat deep, "Lan'er, stand behind me."

Shi Lan stood up and stood behind him, peeking out and asking, "What's wrong?"

Rong Qing stared ahead, his long fingers resting on his waist as he slowly drew his soft sword. "In a moment, stay close to me and don't fall behind."

Shi Lan obediently said "Oh" and continued to look around curiously. Rong Qing glanced at her, then pressed down on her back with his large hand. Before Shi Lan could even utter a sound, he firmly pinned her behind him.

Ten feet away, points of cold light flashed with a sharp edge. Rong Qing gripped his sword in one hand, and with a slight movement of the other, sparks burst forth from beside him, instantly transforming into a dazzling display of fire and light that bloomed like camellias in the sky.

A curse rang out from the wheat fields, and a barrage of arrows, each carrying murderous intent, hurtled towards the two like rapidly spinning spirals.

Rong Qing gave a low shout, brandishing his soft sword. Flashes of silver light appeared, protecting the two of them completely.

The arrows flying everywhere either destroyed immediately upon contact or were bounced away by the recoil.

A voice in the distance shouted, "Make way!" Almost simultaneously, a cold light with a whistling sound spun and shot over.

With a soft 'ding', Rong Qing's sword paused, and the aura of Ruyi slowly dissipated.

Arrows rained down, and Rong Qing's eyes turned cold. He looked down at the dent on his soft sword, snorted, and leaned slightly forward, like a leopard poised to pounce.

Shi Lan took a half-step back, picked up the arrow that was clearly half a circle thicker than the others, weighed it in her hand, and nodded in satisfaction.

Rong Qing glanced back at her and slowed his pace.

Shi Lan grinned at him, raised her hand to block, and with two clangs, the two arrows fell diagonally to the ground.

Rong Qing deflected the arrow that flew in front of him, raised an eyebrow, and smiled, "I underestimated you."

Shi Lan straightened her neck, took two steps to stand behind him, and stood back to back with him.

Figures gradually appeared around them, and as they moved, their features became clearer.

Rong Qing's gaze was sharp as lightning. He glanced at them and immediately recognized one of them. He smiled coldly and said, "Qi Yundi, it's been two years. How come you haven't improved at all?"

The man paused for a moment. With such a clear naming, why was there any need to cover his face?

He immediately removed the cloth covering his face, revealing a face that bore a slight resemblance to Rong Qing. "Good brother, if I were still the same as before, I probably wouldn't have met you at this moment."

Qi Yundi's voice was clear and bright, with a slightly heavy tone at the end. Unlike Shi's father's deep voice, the man's pronunciation seemed to linger on the tip of his tongue, inexplicably carrying a tenderness that made people feel a bit gentle.

Shi Lan curiously turned to the side, stealing a glance at the man with a face like a peach blossom and lips like rouge, and secretly clicked her tongue.

They share the same name and surname; I wonder if this person is the prince of the Yueyi Kingdom?

Shi Lan's eyes darted around. If this person really was a prince, then what about Shi Yi? Was she still following him?

Seeing Shi Lan staring intently at Qi Yundi, Rong Qing pursed his thin lips, and a sudden surge of ferocity welled up in his narrowed eyes. "So what if we meet?"

Seeing his appearance, Qi Yundi subconsciously took a half step back. Only after taking the step did he realize something was wrong, but it was too late to back down. In order to salvage his composure, he could only pretend to take the hand of the person behind him and act intimately, saying, "Since we've met, I naturally ask you to stay here. Yueyi is too small; I am enough."

Shi Lan stared intently at the person beside Qi Yundi. The person was thin and of a familiar height. Although a long robe covered his face, she knew that the person was Shi Yi, the thorn in her side whom she had been thinking about day and night and had been trying to get rid of.

Rong Qing chuckled twice, "You bunch of good-for-nothings? You weren't good enough two years ago, and you're still no better today."

Qi Yundi's face turned pale, and his delicate and beautiful features became somewhat distorted. "Warriors, let's bleed our esteemed Third Prince and show him who the real trash is."

With a shout, the crowd drew their longswords from their waists and simultaneously advanced towards the two men.

Rong Qing glanced coldly at the newcomer, his soft sword trembling slightly, like a cold, venomous snake flicking its tongue, weighing where to strike. A flash of silver light appeared, and someone immediately groaned and collapsed to the ground.

Shi Lan gripped the arrow tightly, her small body tense, her little hands trembling slightly.

This was her first time participating in such a large-scale armed conflict, and she was very excited.

Two steps away, two masked men, hoping to pick on the weakest target, bypassed Rong Qing, crept up behind him, and launched a mid-air attack on Shi Lan.

Shi Lan clenched her fingers, steadied herself, twisted her waist back and forth, easily dodging the two swords. With a deft flick of her small hand, the sharp tip of the arrow pierced through the thin clothing and into the man's chest.
