"By the way, why is there only one serving? Have you already eaten?"
Lorian nodded. Before calling her out, he had already finished eating three failed attempts, and his stomach was stuffed with food in a way he never dared to imagine before.
Ye Jiu chewed and thought for a moment, then swallowed the food in her mouth and said, "Hmm, let's do it this way from now on. If you want to eat, go ahead and eat. Just leave some for me. I don't know when I'll be able to get out of here."
Lorian, sitting opposite her, nodded slightly. "Okay."
"Speaking of which, you didn't get to read that book I asked you to read last time. Now that I suddenly remembered it, I'll tell you about it."
Ye Jiu stopped what she was doing and organized her thoughts. "Actually, it's nothing. It's just that once a succubus reaches adulthood, she won't feel full after eating regular food. Although I don't know your situation, I always feel that bad genes are easily inherited, and you might have the same problem."
"Adult succubi feed on the love and desire of other species. You can think of it as being fed because others have love and desire for you. Hmm, that seems like a very difficult thing to do."
"As for the half-elf gene, they are a loyal race. I wonder what strange reactions might occur in you."
Lorien remained calm, showing no emotional fluctuation at Ye Jiu's words.
"Huh? You don't care at all?"
"If you want to hear the truth, yes, I really don't care."
"Why?" Ye Jiu didn't quite understand. This was about himself, and he clearly didn't even know himself.
"I...I can't see that far."
In other words, he didn't think he would live that long.
“You can see for now, living another five years is easy.” Ye Jiu rested her chin on her hand. “If you stay by my side. Of course, I will respect your decision whenever you want to leave.”
Lorian felt apprehensive; five years was far too long, enough for him to experience too many things.
He wasn't entirely convinced that she would be willing to let him stay with her forever.
However, he still smiled and said, "Okay."
Ye Jiu put down her knife and fork. "I can teach you a trick to hide your tail later. Do you want to learn?"
Lorian's eyes lit up, a rare look of a child's at this age appearing on his face. "Is it okay?"
Ye Jiu was infected by his smile and said with a smile, "Of course, as long as you're willing."
Ye Jiu nodded, but then hesitated, "Will this magic be difficult?"
He didn't consider himself a very smart person, and he was afraid he wouldn't be able to learn it.
Ye Jiu recalled her learning experience and shook her head, "It wasn't difficult, I learned it pretty quickly anyway."
"Thank you... thank you!"
Lorian didn't know what else to say; his limited vocabulary only allowed him to think of this one word.
"It's no trouble at all, it was just a small favor."
Ye Jiu picked up the plate to wash it, but Luo Rui'an noticed her intention and took the plate away first, saying, "I can do it. You don't need to bother with such a small thing."
Ye Jiu looked down at the vanished plate and didn't insist. She turned to get a towel and wiped the table.
"Then I'll teach you after you've finished washing."
Ye Jiu recalled how Selena taught her; she got started very smoothly, it must have been very simple.
If anyone else heard this, they'd want to strangle her. Magic is incredibly dependent on talent! Without talent, you can never even get started, let alone learn magic further. Even with talent, many people need months or even years just to get a feel for the various magical elements—it's nowhere near as simple as Ye Jiu makes it sound.
She pulled out "The Complete Book of Low-Level Magic" from the bookshelf; she remembered that this was the book she started learning from.
Lorien quickly washed the dishes and stood beside Ye Jiu, waiting for her instructions.
"Hmm..." Ye Jiu looked around the room, but there didn't seem to be any open space. "Forget it, the room is too small to use properly. Let's go outside. It's a good opportunity to try out the temperature-regulating magic I just learned. This magic can keep a person's body at a comfortable temperature, which is very convenient for keeping warm!"
She took out her wand and chanted a spell. A beam of light shone on herself, and then did the same to Lorian. "Wait here in the room. I'll go out and try it first. If it doesn't work, go back and wear more clothes."
Ye Jiu pushed open the door, and the cold air from outside rushed in.
The cold wind blew up the loose snowflakes on the ground, revealing a desolate scene.
Ye Jiu stood outside for a few seconds, but didn't feel the cold she expected. She squatted down again and started playing in the snow. It was amazing! She buried her hands in the snowflakes but didn't feel cold at all.
The magic was a success!
Ye Jiu waved to Luo Rui'an, "Come out, magic is no problem haha, you won't need to wear so many layers when you go out in winter anymore!"
Luo Rui'an obediently walked to Ye Jiu's side and squatted down like her.
Ye Jiu sculpted a small snowman with her bare hands and handed it to Luo Rui'an to see, "Isn't it cute? You can try it too, your hands aren't cold at all."
Lorien tentatively scooped up a handful of snow. It was amazing that someone like him could one day not have to worry about starving or freezing to death, and could squat by the roadside playing in the snow in such cold weather.
In this winter when most people are busy scrambling for food, he can actually do nothing but put his hands into the snow and build a snowman that is only pretty but useless.
He imitated Ye Jiu and made a snowball. Despite keeping his hands in the snow for so long, he didn't feel cold at all.
Ye Jiu tilted her head to look at the perfectly round snowball he had rolled out, and exclaimed in amazement, "Wow! This is so round!"
“Do you have…?” Lorian handed her the snowball. “It’s yours if you like.”
