Chapter 199 The Ruthless Patriarch 8 (2/2)

Almost instinctively, the body takes action before the brain issues explicit instructions.

He suddenly bent down, grabbed the crumpled suit jacket from the ground, and without even having time to brush off any non-existent dust, he dashed out of the room in an almost teleporting speed.

When closing the door behind you, the movement is as light as if you were defusing a bomb.

Pei Mozhi leaned against the cold door, panting heavily, feeling even more tired than if he had just finished an ultramarathon.

A thin layer of sweat even appeared on his forehead.

The corridor was empty except for the sound of his slightly heavy breathing.

Damn it, what kind of mess is this!

Pei Mozhi practically fled back to the master suite next door.

The enormous suite should have allowed him to quickly regain a sense of control.

However, at this moment he only felt agitated.

He roughly ripped off his wrinkled shirt and trousers and tossed them into the dirty laundry basket in the corner.

The water was washing over my body, but the sleeping face I had seen when I woke up kept replaying in my mind.

The soft, delicate touch of fingertips brushing against Zhao Zixi's cheek as she slept, her unguarded profile.

Suddenly, Pei Mozhi cursed under his breath and abruptly turned the water temperature to the coldest setting, trying to use the icy water to wash away its agitation.

He didn't come out until more than two hours later, and he went downstairs with a sullen face.

Inside the restaurant, a delicate breakfast for one person was already laid out on the long table.

The butler stood to the side with his hands at his sides, his eyes downcast and seemingly lost in thought.

Pei Mozhi pulled out the chair in the main seat, sat down, and picked up the silver knife and fork.

The air was so quiet that only the occasional soft clinking of cutlery could be heard.

"And her?"

Pei Mozhi didn't even raise his head, his voice flat and emotionless, as if he were just asking casually.

"Young master, Madam has not yet gotten up. Should we go and wake her?"

The butler bowed slightly, his tone as respectful as ever.

He admired this lady; she had slept all day without eating or drinking.

Not up yet?

Still sleeping?!

Is she a koala reincarnated or a sloth in human form?

Did you add sleeping pills to your hot pot last night?

Pei Mozhi paused almost imperceptibly in the hand holding the knife and fork.

He forcibly suppressed the inappropriate urge to rush upstairs to confirm again, and gave a blank "hmm" in response to the butler.

Dinner was tasteless and unappetizing.

Pei Mozhi mechanically put the food into his mouth, finding it tasteless.

My mind keeps replaying the scene of eating hot pot last night.

"Go and deliver the food to Madam's door, and let her come out to eat before going to sleep."

After saying that, Pei Mozhi irritably put down his knife and fork, turned around and left.

The extended black Bentley smoothly drove away from the Pei residence. Pei Mozhi's expensive handmade suit fit him perfectly, outlining his slender figure and lean waist.

He still had to go to the company, so he leaned back in the back seat and closed his eyes to rest.

But after a while, he finally couldn't resist.

He opened his eyes and quickly swiped his finger across the tablet screen, opening a hidden monitoring app without any markings.

The screen was divided into multiple small windows, displaying real-time images of important areas throughout the Pei residence.

His fingertip precisely pointed to one of the windows, which was the surveillance view from Zixi's bedroom.

Seeing her always soothed his anxiety and frustration.

The image zoomed in instantly, taking up the entire screen.
