Novel website. This road is extremely long, much longer than the road to the country of the Crimson Flame Prince.
Halfway there, a torrential downpour started.
It got dark very quickly, so Linghu Lan had to find a family to stay with.
In the pouring rain, she walked toward a lit area.
It was a magnificent castle, with lights shining from every window. In the pitch-black rain, it was like a beacon illuminating the soul and a beacon of hope for passersby.
Linghu Lan felt a strange sense of familiarity with this place. She looked at the body she was now inhabiting, but couldn't see anything special about it, and couldn't recall any information from her mind.
But the familiarity with the castle was real. After thinking for a moment, she decided to follow her heart. She slightly bent her fingers and knocked on the castle door.
"Bang bang bang!"
"Coming!" a cheerful voice came from inside, and the door opened from the inside.
An old woman opened the door. She was dressed as a servant. When she saw Linghu Lan, she exclaimed in surprise, "You don't look well at all!"
Linghu Lan forced a smile. "It's raining heavily outside. May I stay here for the night?"
"Ah! Of course, the King and Queen will certainly welcome you."
Linghu Lan's face remained calm, but a storm was raging inside.
"The King and Queen?"
"Oh! Yes! The King and Queen have always lived here, and they have a lovely prince. I'll take you to see them now."
The servant led the way through the spacious hall to a warm room where the fireplace was burning brightly. Three people were relaxing in front of the fireplace, their glasses filled with deep red wine, and there were pastries on the table. Everything looked extremely leisurely.
The old servant smiled and said, "Your Majesty, it's raining heavily outside. A princess in distress wishes to stay here for the night!"
Princess? ?
Linghu Lan was about to retort when the old servant squeezed her hand.
The three men turned their gazes to Linghu Lan. The eldest man, the king, said, "Is she a princess?"
“Oh! Yes! Your Majesty, she told me herself,” the old servant replied quickly.
The older woman gave Linghu Lan a deep look and said, "I have never seen a princess who looks so terrible. However, we will soon find out whether she is a princess or not. Go and prepare a bed for this princess to rest!"
"Ah! And while you're at it, change her into some clean clothes and shoes. She doesn't look like a princess at all like this!" The young man said with a smile, looking at Linghu Lan without any politeness.
"Alright, I'll take the princess away right away!" The old servant interrupted Linghu Lan again, pulling her hurriedly towards the guest room upstairs.
Linghu Lan's mind was filled with doubt, and she couldn't help but ask, "Why do you say I'm a princess? I never said that!"
“Poor girl, if you want to stay here tonight, you’d better think of yourself as a princess. Otherwise, not just anyone can stay in such a magnificent house! I’ve seen too many poor girls being turned away from this castle unless they are real princesses.”
"I am not!"
"Oh! That's alright. They won't find out you're not a real princess until the next morning anyway. You'll just be kicked out then. Compared to spending a night out in the rain, being kicked out is nothing. You should thank me for opening the door. If it were someone else, I don't think your situation tonight would be so pleasant."
