Urban Giant Wolf Legend (Part 4)
Liang Qing quickly changed the little boy's diaper, then hid him on the berth by the window in the last dormitory. After covering him with clothes and pillows, she got out of bed and ran straight to the public bathroom at the end of the corridor.
Some older dormitories in northern China still share one bathroom per floor. Liang Qing walked into the men's restroom, locked the last one, hung a maintenance sign outside, and waited quietly.
Several people came in one after another, but she looked through the keyhole and saw that none of them were her target. About twenty minutes later, the man wearing a loose dark red plaid shirt and a peaked cap came in.
He was the man who took Lao Liu's backpack on Baldy's orders, but he didn't bring the backpack with him to the toilet.
The man, with his back to the restroom door, was relieving himself at the urinal. Perhaps because he was assigned to guard the team's vital supplies today, he was in a good mood, humming a little tune, oblivious to the shadowy figure behind him unlocking the stall.
A muffled groan and the sound of something heavy falling came from the bathroom. Zhu Chengyong, a bald man, was picking his teeth and washing his hands when he reached the restroom door. He turned around and saw someone in a red plaid shirt pass by.
"Hey..." Zhu Chengyong lowered his voice and spoke gloomily.
The face under the baseball cap did not turn around.
"Don't drink that bottle of Star Power on the table. It's for that little bastard Lao Liu."
Zhu Chengyong didn't even look at the red plaid shirt. He sighed comfortably and urinated into the urinal on the wall. "You little bastard, I'm going to make him know what happens when he goes against me!"
After a few seconds, Zhu Chengyong shook himself with satisfaction, turned around, and saw the man in the red plaid shirt disappear around the corner. The latter responded sullenly with "Okay".
Liang Qing lowered the brim of her hat. Luckily, she was about the same height as the man, and thankfully, the bald man didn't look too closely. She quickly walked towards the dorm manager's office and stopped outside the glass door.
A room full of men slumped about, their eyes closed, resting. The sixth-old man had been freed and was now on duty with another man at the storm shelter. It wasn't so much that they were on duty together, but rather that the other man was watching over him.
Lao Liu had an opened bottle of Xingli beer next to him. It was handed to him by the man opposite him, who kept urging him to drink some.
"I say, Shi Xiaofeng, think about it! This damn place is so chaotic! Who cares about who else? Have you forgotten how those beasts tore people into pieces yesterday?"
The sixth brother, Shi Xiaofeng, raised his head and stared into the other man's eyes, eagerly urging him to drink. "I remember, that's why I'm grateful to Lao Mu. He saved me yesterday. I'll never forget it in my life."
The man who urged him to drink didn't expect this. He smiled awkwardly and didn't know how to respond. He just kept stuffing the bottle into Shi Xiaofeng's hands.
Liang Qing stepped into the house with her long legs. She quickly walked around the confused men, took out the backpack from the deep end of the house, and put it directly on her shoulder.
It flows smoothly without any delay.
The backpack was much heavier than she'd imagined, and a faint smell of gunpowder lingered at the tip of her nose. Liang Qing's heartbeat quickened with excitement as she roughly guessed what was inside.
The two people talking at the door felt only a gust of wind passing by their ears, their red plaid shirt brushing past. When they looked again, the man had already walked out, head lowered, bag on his back, without even a spare glance at them.
What's even more bizarre is that as he left, the man in the red plaid shirt kicked the bottle of star power next to Shi Xiaofeng's hand away.
The man trying to persuade her to drink was dumbfounded, stiffening his neck and yelling, "Old Eight, what are you doing?! Why are you walking with your eyes open?"
Shi Xiaofeng stared at the backpack, frowning. Without saying a word, he stood up and chased after him.
When the man who was trying to persuade Shi Xiaofeng to leave saw him, he shouted unhappily, "Hey, hey, hey, where are you going? The boss asked us to keep watch!"
Shi Xiaofeng walked straight ahead without looking back.
The man who urged her to drink couldn't chase her, nor could he keep her. He turned his head and saw Zhu Chengyong, and quickly stood up and told him what had just happened...
As soon as Liang Qing turned the corner, she stopped walking and started running. The men's dormitory building was an octagonal structure, with eight corridors leading to dormitories for different majors and age groups. The dorm manager's office was the heart of the building. Hearing footsteps behind her, she decisively chose another direction.
Shi Xiaofeng chased after the person in front of him in circles, sweating profusely, but he could not find any trace of him. He bent down, pinched his limp thigh, and gasped.
"The backpack has a password. What is the password?"
Suddenly, a faint female voice sounded from the empty dormitory building, and Shi Xiaofeng's legs went weak and he almost fell to his knees.
"Tsk, you're so timid and your physical strength is so poor, no wonder they want to poison you to death."
Shi Xiaofeng: ...
The shock turned into humiliation. He clenched his fists and looked around. Finally, he saw a young woman sitting astride the handrail at the top of the stairs, looking down at him.
She was wearing Lao Ba's clothes, and had a pretty face under her neutral outfit. If you didn't look closely, you really couldn't tell that she was a woman.
What frustrates Shi Xiaofeng even more is that he and she are three floors apart.
Poor physical strength, solid evidence.
"If you don't tell me, I'll leave. I don't have time to waste on you. I can still use the backpack even if I tear it open."
"821." Shi Xiaofeng blurted out.
Liang Qing raised an eyebrow in surprise: "You surrendered to the enemy so easily, you must hate them deeply."
"Who did you just say wanted to poison me?"
"Who else?" Liang Qing jumped off the handrail and continued to climb up, preparing to make a few more circles. After completely getting rid of them, she would go to pick up the little guy.
"Did you leave your bag at 1020?"
Seeing Liang Qin was about to leave, Shi Xiaofeng quickly took a few steps to catch up with her.
Liang Qing stopped and narrowed his eyes coldly: "What did you say?"
"I saw your bag. Lao Jiu and I saw it when we were patrolling together. But I didn't tell anyone, and I didn't have the chance to open it." Shi Xiaofeng saw Liang Qing stop, so he also stopped. The two of them maintained a distance of three floors and looked at each other.
"The logo on the bag is the same as the one on your shoes."
It is distributed uniformly by the karate gym.
Liang Qing: "Tell me, what are your conditions?"
"I want to team up with you." Shi Xiaofeng really couldn't catch up anymore, so he quickly stated his request.
"reason?"
"If you insist on giving me a reason, you could have just left without making a sound when you took your bag, but you kicked the bottle of wine away. If I'm right, they were trying to use the contents of the wine to knock me out?"
Liang Qing smiled: "Team up with me? Besides your poor physical strength and cowardice, what other characteristics do you have?"
"I...have decent observation skills and am quite attentive..." Shi Xiaofeng felt as if he had stepped into some kind of job search, and he gritted his teeth as he enumerated his strengths. "Actually, I could smell something wrong with the wine. I've been very sensitive to the smells of chemicals since I was a child. But I still want to thank you for saving me... I'd like to repay you if possible."
Shi Xiaofeng spoke very sincerely, his eyebrows and eyes were a little red, which was very obvious on his fair face.
What a damn sentimental person! Liang Qing raised an eyebrow.
Seeing Liang Qing didn't react, Shi Xiaofeng added, "I'm Du Shuo's graduate student. Of all the players, I'm probably one of the only two who knows the password to the lab door." After a few seconds, he added, "Half of the password."
The amount of information was a bit overwhelming, and Liang Qing took a few seconds to digest it.
She looked at her watch. "It's 9:32 now. 10 o'clock sharp. Meet in the second lounge backstage at the school auditorium."
"Okay!" As soon as Shi Xiaofeng finished speaking, he saw that Liang Qing above his head had disappeared.
——
I don’t know if Shi Xiaofeng’s words aroused Liang Qing’s vigilance. She completed the circle as planned and made sure that she had completely gotten rid of the bald guy and his like, and then went straight to 1020. The feeling of uneasiness was getting worse every second.
As expected.
When Liang Qing was about to rush to the dormitory door, a figure had already flashed in, and then the crying of a little kid was heard from inside.
Liang Qingxin felt a sharp drop in her heart, and immediately took out a submachine gun from her bag, unlocked and loaded it, and then kicked open the dormitory door.
The scene before him was astonishing.
The man who was standing guard with Shi Xiaofeng was now frozen in the middle of the dormitory in a strange posture. His eyes were looking in other directions absentmindedly, as if he had been struck by lightning as soon as he came in, and he was motionless.
The little kid on the bed was clearly awakened by the sound of his intrusion and was now crying non-stop. Liang Qing reached out and took down the training bag, picked up the kid to comfort him, and only then noticed that the pacifier in his mouth had turned from green to red.
A countdown of 42 seconds was inexplicably suspended above the frozen man's head.
Liang Qing's phone vibrated as a new message popped up: [Congratulations to the player and their bonded character for activating one of the Magic Pacifier's effects: Absolute Stillness. Received a system reward of 5 points! You have 60 seconds to freeze a nearby enemy. Please use your time to escape.]
Wonderful, wonderful! Liang Qing had originally prepared for a fierce fight, but this would definitely alert the other people in the building.
Who would have thought that this pacifier could actually save the baby's life.
When the kid in his arms saw Liang Qing, he stopped crying for two seconds. After confirming that it was her, his howling turned into a frustrated pout.
Liang Qing's heart softened: "Okay, okay, sister has got the weapon, I will never leave you alone again!"
The kid twitched, and his light brown pupils, dotted with tear marks, looked pitiful.
"I promise!" Liang Qing added solemnly.
The little guy finally calmed down and sucked on the pacifier obediently.
Liang Qing put him back down, kicked the frozen man over, and ran towards the small auditorium as agreed.
