Chapter 146 Farewell, Departure for Beijing (2/2)

Mr. Su patted Mrs. Su's shoulder and said, "Huilan, don't cry. A semester is only a few months long, it will pass quickly." While he was comforting Mrs. Su, tears were silently streaming down his face.

At first, Su Xingran was still crying in the car, but as the car drove further and further away, she couldn't help but cry out loud.

Doctor Huang and Duan Yuming felt bad seeing Su Xingran cry. They were used to parting and didn't care, but this was the first time this child had left her parents and her home. It was understandable that they couldn't control their emotions.

"Xingran, don't cry. Once we settle down in Beijing, your master will arrange a house for you and bring your parents to live there."

Su Xingran knew there were people in the car, and she felt somewhat embarrassed that she was crying like this. She was also reluctant to leave her parents, which was why she couldn't control her tears and emotions.

“Master, I’m fine, I’ll get better soon. My parents told me to study hard and buy my own house so I can bring them to Beijing to live with me.”

Su Xingran was politely declining the offer to have her master arrange a house for her. Her master had already helped her enough; she couldn't accept that her master also arranged a house for her.

It was past ten o'clock when we arrived at the train station. We picked up Xiao Xue in town along the way. Huang Tai'an bought the tickets; they were sleeper berths. When buying the tickets, they couldn't get four tickets for the same carriage.

Currently, Xiao Xue and Su Xingran can only share one carriage, while Dr. Huang and Duan Yuming can share the other. Dr. Huang is worried about the safety of the two girls and is thinking of switching them so that Su Xingran can stay with him and Duan Yuming can stay with Xiao Xue.

Su Xingran felt this was inconvenient; the train was too crowded, and the elderly driver wouldn't have much time to move around. She thought it would be more appropriate for Uncle Duan to take care of the driver. She and her sister Xiao Xue could manage.

Xiao Xue also said that she and Su Xingran could handle it, and that it would be much easier for the two girls to take care of each other than for the boys. Dr. Huang couldn't persuade them otherwise, so he had to go along with it. However, he did advise them to be careful.

Huang Tai'an bought tickets for both upper and lower berths. When Su Xingran was planning her mission, she had heard about various crimes on trains, such as theft and human trafficking. Since she knew martial arts and was quite vigilant, she suggested that she sleep in the lower berth and let Xiao Xue sleep in the upper berth.

Xiao Xue was an open-minded and kind person, and she had no objections to Su Xingran's arrangements. She quite liked this younger sister; Mo Ting had told her that she was upright, kind, methodical, courageous, and resourceful.

A clanging sound rang out as Su Xingran lay on her berth, her mind flashing back to her parents. A wave of sadness washed over her; this time, she was truly leaving her hometown, and she was truly growing up.

Su Xingran and Xiao Xue didn't buy lunch at noon. The train smelled bad, and neither of them had a good appetite. They just ate a little something: a meat bun and an egg that they had brought from home.

Duan Yuming came by once and asked if they wanted to eat. Su Xingran and Xiao Xue both declined, saying they had no appetite and would just eat what they brought from home. They would see how things went that evening; they would decide later if they felt like it.

When it was time to sleep, all the lights on the train were turned off. Su Xingran hadn't slept much at home last night, and now she was quite sleepy.

After saying goodnight to Xiao Xue, Su Xingran closed her eyes and went to sleep. In the middle of the night, Su Xingran felt something moving and heard some rustling sounds.

Su Xingran, who was still half asleep, suddenly woke up. But she didn't open her eyes. Instead, she rolled over and turned her body to face the aisle.

The rustling sound stopped when she heard someone turn over. After a while, the sound started again. Su Xingran opened her eyes in the darkness. The carriage was too dark; she could only see a shadow.
