Chapter 188 Gu Mo Leaves the Huang Family (1/2)

Gu Moli arrived at the Huang family home just as Huang Taihe was there. Huang Zhenhua knew Gu Moli would be there and wasn't surprised by his arrival. Huang Taihe was there because Commander Gao Zhiqiang had mentioned Su Xingran to him, and he had come back to ask his father about it.

Gu Moli entered the main hall and saw the Huang family father and son sitting there chatting. He went over and greeted them, "Uncle, Brother Taihe."

Huang Taihe saw Gu Moli and quickly asked him to sit down. They all knew that Gu Moli had been injured during a mission. "Moli, how is your wound healing? How are you feeling now?"

Huang Zhenhua was more direct: "Mo Li, come here and take off your clothes so your uncle can see how your wound is."

Knowing she couldn't refuse her uncle's request, Gu Moli had no choice but to take off her shirt for him to inspect.

The bandage was no longer on the wound, and Gu Moli took off his shirt and walked closer to see the wound clearly. Huang Zhenhua looked at the wound; it had healed fairly well, but it was still quite new and looked somewhat gruesome.

Huang Taihe also examined the wound and shook his head. He was somewhat moved; no soldier on a mission was without gunshot or knife wounds. Gu Moli had been in the army for five years, and he had quite a few scars, both new and old.

Huang Tai'an said earnestly, "Mo Li, be more careful on missions in the future. You're lucky to be alive after being shot three times. None of the shots were fatal. But even so, it's still pretty tough. You should be able to get promoted after this mission."

Gu Moli knew that Huang Taihe was concerned about her. "I understand, Taihe. I will be more careful in the future. Thanks to Xingran's powder and pills, otherwise I would not have been able to walk out of the jungle safely."

Huang Zhenhua also spoke to Gu Moli with concern: "There will always be dangers on missions. On the battlefield, weapons are ruthless, so you have to be careful. While protecting your country, you also have to protect your own life."

“Xingran told me at school that you should go and talk to her about the powder and pills. Taihe and Moli, we are family. I’m telling you here that you must protect Xingran from now on. The situation is still turbulent. Those at the top have differing political views and are fighting among factions. Otherwise, so many innocent people wouldn’t be implicated.”

Huang Zhenhua paused, took a sip of tea, and continued, "As you all know, the Huang family and the Gu family almost had their homes ransacked by the Red Armband of the Party Committee. There are a few reasons why our two families were able to survive. First, our two families donated a lot of money and materials to support the war effort. After the victory of the war, the Gu family's factory was incorporated into the state-owned enterprises, and the Huang family's pharmacy was also able to continue operating only because it was listed as a state-owned enterprise."

"Secondly, Qingxiao and I joined the army as military doctors at the beginning of the War of Resistance against Japan. We followed the army to fight everywhere and saved many people, including those leaders, and made many military contributions."

"Thirdly, it's the antibacterial and antiviral drugs that Qingxiao made. It's these three things that saved our Huang family and Gu family; otherwise, we would have been labeled as capitalists."

“There are plenty of people who don’t like the Huang family, otherwise they wouldn’t have used those two heartless people to attack the Huang family. Now that Xingran is going to cooperate with the country, she will naturally be more likely to be targeted by those with ulterior motives.”

"I'm getting old and don't know when I'll be gone. If I'm gone, I won't be able to protect Xingran, but you must protect her. No matter where she goes or what she achieves in the future, you must protect her and be her support. If Qingxiao were here, she would be telling you the same thing."

As Gu Moli listened to Huang Zhenhua's words, he was still young and inexperienced and could not yet understand the meaning of Huang Zhenhua's words. He only knew that his uncle wanted him to protect Su Xingran, and of course he was willing to protect Su Xingran.
