Back in her room, Su Xingran went into her spatial dimension to change her clothes. The outfit she wore tonight was one she had deliberately taken to the Gu family's house to get some medicinal wine. After all, she had brought a bag back from her master's house to the Gu family's, and no one knew what was inside.
Wei Zilin, lying unconscious in the courtyard, was given two pills by Su Xingran. One was to save his life, and the other was the same as the one she had given to Granny Su and Zhao Xiaohua. Even if Wei Zilin's legs and hands could be healed, his bones would ache terribly when the weather got cold.
The next day, Su Xingran got up at dawn, as she needed to rush back to school to prepare for her morning exam. Hu Ma, who helped take care of the family, was already up making breakfast.
Su Xingran originally planned to have breakfast at school, and she didn't intend to let Gu Moli take her to school. Although Gu Moli said last night that he would take her in the morning, Su Xingran still didn't want to trouble him.
But when Su Xingran came out of her room and walked into the living room, she found that apart from Gu Moyue, everyone else from the Gu family was sitting in the living room.
When Liang Yun saw Su Xingran get up, he said, "Xingran, Aunt Hu has made breakfast. Come and have breakfast in the dining room."
Knowing she couldn't leave without eating breakfast, Su Xingran had no choice but to go to the dining room for breakfast. Breakfast was simple: porridge, meat buns, and some side dishes. Su Xingran's light breakfast suited her well.
Su Xingran was unaware that Liang Yun had overheard Huang Ma talking about this while chatting with Huang Ma at the Huang family home. Su Xingran ate a light breakfast: porridge, boiled noodles, or steamed buns. Last night, Liang Yun had instructed Hu Ma to cook porridge and steamed buns for breakfast today, as Su Xingran didn't like strong flavors.
After breakfast, Su Xingran instructed Xiao Xue, "Sister-in-law Xiao Xue, I've put the medicinal wine in your room. You can ask Aunt Gu or Sister Mo Yue to apply it to you. If you're really worried, you can go to the hospital for a check-up. I have an exam this morning, so I'm going to school first."
Su Xingran, Gu Junru, and Liang Yun said they were leaving, and she walked out of the living room with her backpack on. Gu Moli followed Su Xingran out, and when they reached the bicycle area, Su Xingran pushed her bicycle, ready to leave.
"Brother Mo Li, I can go to school by myself, you don't need to see me off." Su Xingran looked at Gu Mo Li following behind her, turned around and said to him.
Gu Moli pushed his bicycle and looked at Su Xingran, "We agreed last night that I would take you today. Let's go, or you'll miss the time."
Knowing that talking wouldn't change Gu Moli's mind, Su Xingran gave up and let him be. The two rode their bicycles one after the other towards Peking University.
The gate of the Wei family compound was being pounded on loudly. At this hour, no one in the Wei family was up yet. Only one person, who claimed to be a "distant relative" of the Wei family, was making breakfast. Hearing the knocking, she quickly went to open the door.
"Have Old Wei, his son, and daughter-in-law gotten up yet? Old Wei's second grandson, Wei Zilin, had an accident in the house in front." The person who came was a guard at the gate of the military compound.
The guards were on duty at the gate of the compound when someone rushed over and said that someone had collapsed in the yard of the house in front, and their fate was unknown.
The other guards were notified to follow the man who had spoken. Upon reaching the house he mentioned, one guard went inside and saw a person lying on the ground, their life hanging in the balance. He quickly placed his hand under the person's nostrils to check and found a warm breath.
The guard remembered that the house belonged to the Wei family. Although the person lying on the ground was beaten beyond recognition, it was still possible to roughly identify him as Wei Zilin, the second grandson of Old Master Wei. The guard quickly returned to the compound to notify the Wei family.
