Chapter 231 Leaving Late at Night (2/2)

Su Xingran said to the dean very seriously, "Dean, I want to apply to go to the front line of the upcoming battle."

The dean's eyes widened instantly. "Comrade Su Xingran, do you know what you're saying? Going to the front lines is dangerous, and you might even sacrifice yourself in the midst of war."

Su Xingran said firmly, "I know all this, Dean. Director Shen Qiu is too old for her. There are two male doctors left in the hospital, and they both have families and children. I am an intern, but I am also a doctor. I am young and have the strength and energy."

“I am skilled in emergency treatment of various external injuries. Our predecessors were able to forge ahead without fear of difficulties and sacrifices, and we, as their successors, can do the same. Please approve my application, Dean.”

The dean finally gave in to Su Xingran's insistence and determination, and approved her application. The two agreed to keep the matter a secret before her departure. Su Xingran would leave a letter for her mentor, informing him of her going to the front lines.

Su Xingran walked to the assembly point, where some people were already queuing. Those in line were somewhat surprised to see such a young girl carrying a backpack and wearing the same military uniform as them.

Once everyone had arrived, Su Xingran noticed that among the dozen or so doctors, only she and another doctor who looked to be in their early forties were women. Someone came over to check their identity and documents to ensure they matched, and then arranged for them to board the vehicle.

Su Xingran was seated next to the female doctor. As the car started moving, Su Xingran closed her eyes, filled with uncertainty about the unknown road ahead.

The next day, Huang Ma got up to make breakfast. After she finished making breakfast, she waited for Su Xingran to come out and eat before going to work at the hospital. But she waited and waited, and it was almost 7:30 o'clock, but she still didn't see Su Xingran.

Aunt Huang felt something was off. She went outside to look, and saw Su Xingran's bicycle there. She glanced at the gate; it was closed from the inside, and no one had gone out. Suddenly remembering something, Aunt Huang quickly ran back inside to Su Xingran's room.

At the door of Su Xingran's room, Huang Ma called out a few times, "Xingran, Xingran, are you up yet?" But there was no response from inside. Huang Ma pushed the door open, and it swung open easily. She went into the room and saw that no one was there, and the blankets were neatly folded.

Huang Ma panicked. The living room was empty, the bedrooms were empty, the bicycle was there, and the front door hadn't been opened from the inside. Huang Ma hurried to find Huang Zhenhua, just as she stepped outside and he walked over.

Huang's mother called out to Huang Zhenhua in a panic, "Zhenhua, something bad has happened! Xingran has disappeared!"

Huang Zhenhua was stunned for a moment and then immediately realized what he meant. "What did you say? You said Xingran is missing? What happened?"

Huang Ma quickly explained, "I made breakfast and waited for Xingran to get up and eat. She usually eats breakfast around 7:10. Today I waited until 7:30 and she still didn't come. I went to look outside the yard. Her bicycle was there, and the gate was closed from the inside. I also looked in her room, but no one was there."

Huang Zhenhua was startled, as if something had occurred to him, and quickly walked towards the living room. When he got there, he glanced at the coffee table and noticed a piece of paper weighed down by a cup.

Huang Zhenhua quickly went over, reached out to remove the cup, and picked up the piece of paper. His hands trembled slightly as he unfolded the paper, and after reading its contents, he sat down silently on the sofa.
