Gu Moli looked at Shen Qiu politely and asked, "Director Shen, hello, my name is Gu Moli, may I come in?"
Shen Qiu glanced at Su Xingran beside her, then at Gu Moli at the door. "You're here for Xingran, right? Just come in, no need to be so polite."
Gu Moli walked in and placed his things on the desk. Looking at Su Xingran, he said, "I arrived in Beijing this afternoon and went to my uncle's house, but you hadn't come home. I went to the hospital, and the nurses said you and Director Shen were trying to save a patient."
"Thinking that you probably haven't had dinner yet, I went back home again and brought you some food. If you haven't eaten, please eat first, and I'll wait for you outside until you finish eating."
Gu Moli didn't wait for Shen Qiu and Su Xingran to say anything; he turned and walked out of the consultation room. Inside, Shen Qiu looked at Su Xingran and chuckled softly. Su Xingran remained expressionless as she took food from the bag.
There were six lunchboxes and two pairs of chopsticks. Two lunchboxes contained rice, and four contained vegetables. Shen Qiu and Su Xingran were really hungry, so they picked up their chopsticks and started eating.
After dinner, Chen Qiu told Su Xingran to go home, and that she could stay at the hospital that night. She often spent the night at the hospital anyway. Thinking of Gu Moli waiting outside, Su Xingran finally agreed.
Su Xingran walked out carrying the lunchbox, while Gu Moli sat in the hospital lobby. Seeing Su Xingran come out, he instinctively reached out to take the lunchbox. Su Xingran flinched and said, "I need to wash this lunchbox before giving it to you."
Gu Moli took the lunchbox directly and said to Su Xingran, "Just tell me where you want to wash it and I'll go wash it."
Finally, Su Xingran took Gu Moli to wash the lunchbox. The two walked out of the hospital lobby, and Su Xingran checked her watch; it was past nine o'clock at night.
Su Xingran and Gu Moli left the hospital on their bicycles. On the way, Su Xingran asked Gu Moli, "When are you going back to the army?"
Gu Moli stared at the road ahead and replied, "We're leaving tomorrow morning. This trip is rather rushed."
Hearing Gu Moli's words, Su Xingran recalled that in the clinic, Gu Moli had said he arrived in the afternoon. He had gone to his master's house, come to the hospital, and then went home to get food before bringing it back. He was leaving again tomorrow morning; this schedule was truly quite rushed.
For some reason, Su Xingran felt a tightness in her chest. Perhaps parting is a silent affair for anyone. Neither of them continued the conversation.
The two changed the subject and chatted all the way to the Huang family's door. It was already quite late, and Gu Moli had no intention of going in. Gu Moli felt that Su Xingran was tired enough for the day, and she had to go to work tomorrow.
Gu Moli and Su Xingran stopped at the door. Su Xingran turned around and looked at Gu Moli, saying, "Gu Moli, thank you for bringing me food and for bringing me back. Have a safe journey back to the army tomorrow, and be careful when you go on missions. Gu Moli, go home and rest early."
Gu Moli smiled and said, "Xingran, you should also take care of your health and not overwork yourself."
Su Xingran knocked on the door. After the door opened, she didn't turn around, waved her hand, and pushed her bicycle inside. Gu Moli watched Su Xingran go in, and only left after the door closed.
