Chapter 29: Bringing up the family division issue again at the old house (1/2)

In the old Su family house, Old Mrs. Su pulled the wife of Su the eldest son into the room and whispered to each other.

Eldest daughter-in-law, Mom suspects that the second son's wife, that madwoman, is possessed by a ghost. Remember how she used to be? She wouldn't say a word to us, and she'd always avoid us.

Now, she not only dares to talk to us, she even dares to hit us. Before, no matter what your father and I said, your second son and his wife would never argue with us. But now, that wife of your second son, who doesn't lay eggs, dares to make sarcastic remarks to me. Your second son, who is like an unfilial son, has started to be unfilial and argue with your father and me.

Mother, I think so too. That madwoman in the second son's family is definitely possessed by a ghost, and a malevolent one at that. You see, when that ghost goes berserk, none of us can handle her. If she wants to kill us, it could happen in an instant.

We need to think of a way to get rid of that evil spirit, otherwise our family might be killed off someday. It's strange, eldest daughter-in-law, look, the wound on my lip has stopped bleeding and is slowly healing, but it still hurts, itches, and is swollen.

Do you think it might be that evil spirit casting a spell on me? I have to say, Old Lady Su was right, but it wasn't a spell; Su Xingran had put another kind of powder in the hemostatic powder she gave her. This powder, when sprinkled on a wound, will cause pain, itching, and swelling that lasts for about two weeks.

Two days later, Su Xingran had almost fully recovered and was no longer in any trouble. She went to Dr. Huang's house to officially begin her medical studies...

After discussing it, Su Xingran's parents decided that since she had recovered, it was time to finalize the family division agreement they had previously discussed.

The night before, Su's father went to the village and met with the previous village chief, his eldest and second uncles, as well as some respected elders, the current village chief, and the brigade leader. He explained his purpose to them, requesting that they come to the old house the next day to preside over the family division ceremony, which was twelve years overdue.

The following evening, after dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Su went to invite the people Mr. Su had visited the day before to go to the old house together. On the way, the old village chief and elders asked Mr. Su if he had really made up his mind. Mr. Su firmly stated his decision, and seeing that his mind was made up, they said no more.

Upon arriving at the old house, Su's father stepped forward and knocked on the door. Someone inside shouted, asking who it was. Su's father replied, "It's me, Su Guomin."

The door opened, and out came Boss Su, his face still bearing the marks of his injuries. Hearing from inside that it was Su's father, he opened the door in anger. He was about to unleash a torrent of abuse on Su's father, but upon seeing who stood behind him, he swallowed the words he was about to utter.

A distorted, red, and scarred face came into view. Su's father ignored him completely, leading Su's mother past him and into the house. Those behind them shook their heads at the sight of their eldest son. Born of the same parents, one was tall and handsome, the other a pitiful sight.

Hearing the commotion inside, Old Man Su and Old Woman Su came out to greet Mr. and Mrs. Su, who were walking towards them. Old Man Su snorted coldly, assuming that Mr. and Mrs. Su had come to apologize and make amends.

Ignoring his cold snort, Su's parents addressed him as "Father" and "Mother." "What are you doing here, you unfilial son? Do you know you've done something wrong and come to apologize? Let me tell you, second son, if you don't teach that troublemaker a lesson and let Wenli become your apprentice, I will never accept your apology."

That's right, you unfilial son, and your barren wife, you have to compensate us, pay us money, otherwise your father and I will not accept your apology.

Su's father glanced at his parents, who were still shamelessly insisting that he had come to apologize, and sneered inwardly. It didn't matter whether they were parents or not. He wasn't going to be a filial son anymore; let someone else be one.
