Southwest's face immediately turned red, and he didn't know how to respond.
"Go back and ask your teacher's wife to cook something soft and easy to eat. Have her bring it over tomorrow morning. Also, ask for leave for me." Tang Jianjun waved his hand, urging him to leave quickly.
Southwest left awkwardly, feeling utterly powerless, realizing how inadequate he was.
The next morning, Southwest still called Cuihua. Hearing Cuihua's reproachful question about how he had taken care of the child, Southwest was filled with shame.
When Yan Xiaoqiang learned that Duoduo had broken her arm, she rushed to the hospital, but Cuihua stopped her and told her to bring some of the child's favorite foods.
Tang's mother and Cuihua met at the hospital and walked together to the ward.
Duo Duo was in so much pain that he was crying, and Tang Jianjun held him and comforted him.
When the little guy saw Cuihua and Tang Jianjun, he couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears: "Grandma, it hurts."
Cuihua felt extremely sorry for Duoduo and quickly took out her handkerchief to wipe away Duoduo's tears, muttering, "Don't cry, don't cry, Duoduo, be good, Grandma brought you something delicious."
Hearing about the delicious food, Duoduo sniffed and picked up a small cake with her movable hand and started eating.
"Qiangzi, the doctor just came by and said that Duoduo's head problem isn't serious, but she needs to rest. You're busy here, and only your sister-in-law is at home. Why don't I take her back?" Tang Jianjun suggested.
Yan Xiaoqiang didn't answer, but looked at Duoduo and asked, "Duoduo, do you want to go back with your grandparents or your maternal grandparents?"
Without hesitation, Duoduo said, "I'm going back with my grandparents."
Tang's mother didn't mince words: "Cuihua, then I'll pack up and stay with you for a while. Your mother can't take care of too much by herself, especially since there are still five and a half jin to go."
Cuihua and Yan Xiaoqiang exchanged a glance and nodded. They had to go to the shop every day, and there was indeed no one to take care of them at home.
With a few changes of clothes, Tang's mother moved into the courtyard with Duo Duo. Grandma Yan touched Duo Duo's little arm, feeling sorry for her.
Southwest took her books to class, but while she was sitting in the classroom, her mind was filled with images of Duoduo falling to the ground and crying loudly.
How could I be so stupid? Leaving a three-year-old child alone in a room, how could I be so careless?
"The teacher is calling you." A female classmate next to him nudged him, and Southwest finally snapped out of his daze and looked up at the podium.
Sure enough, the teacher asked Southwest a question, but what was it? Southwest was a little embarrassed.
The female student next to me was writing down the questions the teacher asked on a piece of white paper, and she even wrote down which page the answers were on in the book.
Yan Xinan quickly opened his book and began reading as instructed by his female classmate. The teacher, standing on the podium, watched the interaction between the two and sighed.
Well, Yan Xinan is a good student. I wonder what happened at home or at work. I gestured for Xinan to sit down.
Southwest glanced gratefully at the female classmate, somewhat surprised, as he didn't recognize her.
After class, the girl introduced herself: "Hello, my name is Liu Lili, and you must be Yan Xinan."
"Hello Liu Lili, thank you for helping me out?" Yan Xinan quickly greeted her, after all, she had helped him.
"Yan Xinan doesn't live on campus, so he's not familiar with the other students. If you need anything in the future, you can come to me. I'm the class monitor."
Yan Xinan smiled. No wonder he was so helpful; he was the class monitor. Nan Nan had told him that class monitors were usually people with excellent academic performance.
"Liu Lili, thank you for getting me out of that situation today. Let me treat you to lunch."
"Okay, the student cafeteria has braised pork ribs today, I want noodles." Liu Lili readily agreed.
Southwest's eyes lit up. He also liked braised pork noodles. He quickly quickened his pace and said, "We have to hurry, or they'll all be gone."
Liu Lili wholeheartedly agreed, thinking that those classmates were all reincarnated hungry ghosts, and thus sped up her pace.
They finally managed to grab two bowls of noodles and two large pieces of braised pork chops, and the two of them happily picked up their chopsticks and started eating.
Liu Lili looked at Southwest's lunchbox: "How about I wash your lunchbox for you?"
Southwest put away her lunchbox and picked up Liu Lili's lunchbox as well: "I'll take it. Thank you for today."
After thinking for a moment, Liu Lili couldn't help but ask, "Is something wrong at the factory?"
Southwest shook his head: "My youngest son fell down the stairs, broke his hand, and suffered a concussion."
"Oh, it's that serious! How is the child now? Is he in the hospital?" Liu Lili was shocked.
She knew that the children in the Southwest were very young, and that such young children were difficult to raise, because she was the eldest in her family and had raised her younger siblings.
“The child is in the hospital. My master and his wife are helping to take care of the child. It was my carelessness. Such a young child is suffering so much.” Southwest felt very sorry for the child.
Liu Lili nodded: "When is that child coming home? I'll go see him."
"No need, no need. I don't know when Duoduo will be back. I have a class this afternoon, and I'll go to the hospital after that."
Liu Lili nodded, making up her mind that she would go to the hospital with Southwest after class in the afternoon.
Seeing that Liu Lili insisted on going to the hospital with him, Southwest could not refuse and could only nod.
Liu Lili pushed out a bicycle: "Southwest, why don't you ride my bike and I'll sit behind you? That way it'll be faster."
Southwest hesitated for a moment, somewhat regretting not bringing his bicycle from his hometown, but his anxiety to see Duoduo as soon as possible prevailed, and he took Liu Lili to the hospital.
To my surprise, the hospital was deserted. I had to ask several nurses before I learned that a man had taken the child home.
The man must be her master. Southwest took Liu Lili to the staff building, but no one opened the door.
Southwest was anxious and went to the factory to find Tang Jianjun. Tang Jianjun told him that the child had been taken back to the courtyard by Qiangzi.
Hearing that Duoduo had returned to the courtyard house, Southwest finally felt relieved. If she had known this would happen, she wouldn't have brought Duoduo home.
He returned the bicycle to Liu Lili, saying, "Thank you. My son is back with my mother. Here, take the bicycle."
Liu Lili thought for a moment and said, "Okay then, these are the things I just bought. You can take them back for your son to eat."
Southwest looked at the nylon rope bag in Liu Lili's hand and shook his head repeatedly, saying that it was unnecessary and too expensive.
Liu Lili was unhappy: "Yan Xinan, are you looking down on me?"
Yan Xinan was taken aback. What did he mean by that?
“I think it must be very painful for a child to break their hand, but if they have something good to eat, they will be happier.”
Southwest felt he was being petty and embarrassed to invite Liu Lili to the courtyard house, hoping to cheer Duoduo up.
Southwest took Liu Lili to the courtyard house. Liu Lili was surprised and couldn't help but ask, "Is the courtyard house your home?"
Southwest quickly shook his head: "The courtyard house is my sister's home, and my home is in the staff dormitory."
