Chapter Two: First Encounter (1/2)

Lin Jin had already organized all the necessary documents the day before and carefully checked them over and over again to ensure nothing was missing. She sat at the table, pen in hand, her brows slightly furrowed, pondering her next plan.

Finally, after much deliberation, she decided to stay temporarily at a nearby hotel. She was leaving for the countryside in just two days, and if she didn't find a place to stay now, she might be in a panic. Besides, it was only for two days, so it shouldn't cost much.

Having made up her mind, Jin quickly got up, picked up her already packed suitcase, and strode out of the house with firm steps. A short while later, she arrived at the door of a hotel that didn't look very large. Although the hotel appeared somewhat old, it was clean and tidy.

Jin took a deep breath, then pushed open the door and went inside. As soon as she entered, her gaze was drawn to the reception desk—where a slightly overweight middle-aged woman sat. The woman wore a simple blue uniform, her hair neatly pinned up, and a kind smile graced her face.

Lin Jin walked quickly to the front desk, put down his suitcase, and said to the middle-aged woman with a smile and great politeness, "Hello, comrade, I would like to check in."

The middle-aged woman looked up at the voice, sized up the young woman in front of her, and then said unhurriedly, "One yuan a night. Do you have a letter of introduction?"

"Yes, thank you for your help. I plan to stay here for two days," Lin Jin said, taking out two yuan from his pocket and handing her the letter of introduction.

The middle-aged woman took the letter and money, checked them carefully, and nodded after confirming that everything was correct. She pointed to the stairwell and said, "The rightmost room on the second floor is your room. Also, I have to remind you that it's best not to go out at night, and if you do go out, don't come back too late. We lock the doors here at 11 p.m., and it's not safe for a young girl like you to go out at night."

Okay, comrade, I understand.

After getting the key, Lin Jin carried her suitcase to her room. Pushing open the door, she found the room simple but clean. After quickly tidying up her luggage, she took a shower. Since there was no shower in the room, she went to the public bathroom. In this day and age, only large hotels had private shower rooms.

Phew... Finally, I can rest in peace for a while! Several days have passed since I inexplicably transmigrated here, but I still haven't figured out what path to take in the future. My mind is filled with only one thought—to get away from that family as soon as possible! As for how to do that specifically, it's really giving me a headache.

Think about it. If you choose to continue your studies, it seems that even the college entrance examination has not yet been reinstated, which means that it is unlikely to change your destiny through knowledge for the time being. If you plan to go into business, firstly, you don't have any start-up capital, and secondly, you lack the necessary network of contacts to support you. It's just wishful thinking!

Ugh, the more I think about it, the more upset I get. I might as well stop thinking about these troubling things. Since going to the countryside is a done deal, an unchangeable fact, I might as well just obediently go and stay there for a while. Maybe once I'm actually in that unfamiliar environment, I'll have a brilliant idea that comes to mind? There's always a way, and things will work themselves out. We'll see!
