Three days is neither a long nor a short time.
For the past three days, Cha Meiling has locked herself in her room, analyzing the current situation over and over again.
She had considered going against Ning Bingyu, but given Madam Ning's affection for her, Ning Bingyu might not be able to do anything to her.
But when she thought about the Cha family's current situation, Cha Meiling had to give up the idea.
She knew Ning Bingyu's methods all too well. If she really angered him, he had a hundred ways to completely destroy the Cha family!
Cha Meiling squeezed her eyes shut, trying to banish all the unrealistic fantasies from her mind.
Three days later, Cha Meiling arrived at Ning Bingyu's study as promised.
She wore a white Chanel suit today; the well-tailored design accentuated her shapely figure, and her shoulder-length curly hair and makeup remained exquisite.
But those once charming eyes were now shrouded in a faint gloom.
"Brother Yu." She knocked gently on the door, then pushed it open and went inside.
"Have you thought it through?" Ning Bingyu asked without looking up from his seat in the genuine leather chair that the Italian Poltrona Frau had brought from Hong Kong, holding a document in his hand.
"Hmm." Cha Meiling took a deep breath, walked up to him, and forced a smile. "I've made up my mind."
Ning Bingyu didn't look up at her, but simply asked, "Tell me, do you choose to be the sixth young lady of the Ning family forever, or the head of the Cha family?"
Cha Meiling took a deep breath, trying hard to control her emotions, "I agree to your conditions, but..."
“No buts.” Ning Bingyu interrupted her, his tone icy, leaving no room for negotiation. “You should know that when I do business, once I set a bottom price, there’s no room for bargaining.”
Cha Meiling clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her flesh, but the pain only made her more alert.
Cha Meiling closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, her eyes were icy cold: "I've made up my mind. I hope you can let the Cha family go."
She wants to become the head of the Cha family and revitalize it!
“Very good.” Ning Bingyu said calmly, “Since Sixth Sister has made a wise choice, then do as I said. This afternoon, after Mommy comes back, go and tell her your decision.”
"I understand." Cha Meiling nodded sadly, but her back remained elegantly straight.
"Oh, right, Sixth Sister, let me remind you something." Ning Bingyu's gaze fell coldly on her face.
He smiled gently: "Don't try to challenge my bottom line again, or I won't hesitate to let you and your family experience the pain of family ruin and death once more."
Cha Meiling trembled, and her face turned pale instantly.
She knew that Ning Bingyu meant what he said.
Cha Meiling closed her eyes, turned around and walked out of the study.
She didn't know how she got back to her room.
She walked to the dressing table, looked at the haggard woman in the mirror for a long time, and then gave a blank, forced smile.
It was all worth it.
The Cha family was once the most prominent family in Hong Kong.
She's about to become the head of the Cha family!
...
In Ning Bingyu's office, Assistant Ye came out from another room and said with a sigh, "Miss Annie has made the wrong choice again."
Ning Bingyu casually flipped through the documents: "What wrong choice did she make?"
Assistant Ye pushed up his glasses and smiled as he walked out of the room.
"Who says the eldest young master is heartless and ungrateful? You still gave Miss Annie the option to continue being the sixth young lady of the Ning family. As long as she obediently chooses this path, the status of the sixth young lady of the second branch of the Ning family will only be higher than that of the fallen eldest young lady of the Cha family."
If the young master is willing, he can completely deny Miss Anne any other choice.
But the young master had actually given Miss Anne a second choice.
Ning Bingyu picked up the cup, took a sip of tea, and said nothing.
Assistant Ye sighed softly. In fact, the young master and Miss Meiling were quite a good match. After all, Miss Meiling had been raised and cultivated from childhood to be a Hong Kong socialite according to the standards of the young master's wife.
...
Time flew by, and it was already afternoon.
Cha Meiling and Ning Bingyu entered Ning Er's room at the Jinjiang Hotel one after the other.
The room was filled with a faint scent of sandalwood, and a pot of blooming orchids sat by the window, their delicate fragrance adding a touch of life to the elegant room.
Madam Ning was sitting on the sofa flipping through an English magazine when she heard the noise. She looked up and saw that Cha Meiling's expression was not quite right.
She paused for a moment, then asked with concern, "Annie, what's wrong? Did Ayu bully you again?"
Cha Meiling forced a smile, shook her head, and said softly, "No godmother. Brother Yu is very good to me. It's all on my own..."
She paused, as if organizing her thoughts.
After a moment, she continued, "Godmother, I've thought it over carefully. I'm still not suitable for the position of vice president of the Morning Light Socialite Club."
Madam Ning frowned slightly, put down the magazine in her hand, and scanned back and forth between Cha Meiling and Ning Bingyu, her tone carrying a hint of inquiry—
"Why did you suddenly change your mind? Did Ayu say something to you?"
Ning Bingyu stood aside, his expression indifferent. In response to Madam Ning's question, he merely raised an eyebrow without offering any explanation.
Seeing this, Cha Meiling quickly said, "Godmother, it really has nothing to do with Brother Yu. I've figured it out myself. I'm not experienced enough and I'm not capable enough. If I insist on being the vice president, I won't be able to help you. Instead, I'll mess things up because of my lack of experience and become a laughing stock."
"Meiling, I'm so glad you think this way," Madam Ning sighed.
Her gentle expression conveyed comfort: "You are still young and don't understand many things. There's no need to rush. It's not too late to compete for this position after you marry into a good family or achieve something in your career."
"Godmother, I understand your good intentions." Cha Meiling reached out to pour tea for Madam Ning.
She said gently and calmly, "I was too willful before and didn't know how to cherish your kindness. In the future, I will study hard and make myself better so as not to let you and Brother Yu down."
The room was silent for a few seconds, then Cha Meiling suddenly took a deep breath, as if she had made a major decision.
She slowly removed the jade chili pepper from her neck and handed it to Madam Ning.
"Godmother, here you go."
Madam Ning was stunned when she saw the vibrant green jade chili pepper.
This thing is now Cha Mei-ling's "face" and "confidence" in front of everyone in Hong Kong.
Even if she is no longer Ning Bingyu's fiancée, as long as she is still wearing this chili pepper, it means that she is recognized by the Ning family and by Ning Er Madam.
"Annie, what are you doing?" Madam Ning frowned slightly, her tone tinged with confusion.
She didn't take back the jade chili peppers at first, and even argued with her husband on the phone before she managed to secure Meiling's right to keep the chili peppers until her grand wedding.
“This chili pepper belongs to the Ning family and shouldn’t have been kept by me in the first place,” Cha Meiling said, her eyes lowered.
