Chapter 3 I wouldn't even dare to do this in my wildest dreams (Part 1)

Seeing that she looked listless, he whispered to her, "You didn't sleep well last night. Close the door and go to sleep. I'm going out."

Su Xueli couldn't have been happier with that. As soon as he left, she took off her coat, crawled into bed, and fell fast asleep.

I slept so soundly that it was already afternoon.

As a new bride, Su Xueli felt she had to put on an act, since her in-laws were good people who had treated her well in her past life.

She quickly got out of bed and opened the door.

"Oh, Shirley's awake. We've already had lunch. I'll keep it warm in the pot for you. I said I'd call you when we were eating, but Mingshen wouldn't let me, saying you'd had enough sleep. That's why I didn't call you. Go back to your room, and I'll bring it to you from the kitchen." Grandma Cao Maizi had been waiting at the door.

Su Xueli felt very bad and quickly said, "Mother, you don't need to bring it. I'll just eat it in the kitchen."

Cao Maizi laughed and said, "That's fine, that's fine too, the kitchen is warm."

Lunch consisted of steamed buns, rice porridge, and pork stew with cabbage, made from leftover meat from yesterday's wedding.

Su Xueli was eating at the small square table in the kitchen, and Cao Maizi was sitting happily next to her.

She asked tentatively, "Sherry, that brat didn't throw a tantrum at you, did he?"

Su Xueli knew exactly what she meant, so she replied dismissively, "No."

Cao Maizi didn't dare to ask any further, and just kept laughing it off, saying, "That's good, that's good..."

The kitchen doorway darkened as Wei Mingshen returned.

Cao Maizi quickly got up and scolded him: "On such a joyous day, why aren't you at home with Xue Li? What are you running around for? I'll go check on the livestock. You ladle some rice porridge for Xue Li."

After saying that, he went out.

This is an excuse to keep my son and daughter-in-law together.

Wei Mingshen hesitated at the door for a few seconds, then lowered his head and went into the kitchen. Seeing Su Xueli eating vegetables with steamed buns, he lifted the lid of the pot to scoop rice porridge for her and then brought it to her side.

Su Xueli's heart trembled: In her past life, she would never have dared to do such a thing in her wildest dreams. She was the one who served him so well, yet he still looked down on her.

She couldn't help but say, "Thank you."

Wei Mingshen was in a good mood, so he grinned and said, "You're welcome."

That smile melted the spring snow, and the handsome man was dazzling.

As he spoke, he sat down on the stool opposite her, stretched out his two long legs, and stepped on Su Xueli's feet.

Su Xueli pulled her foot back sharply, and he quickly pulled his foot back as well, saying, "Sorry."

Su Xueli said, "It's okay."

"Look how polite the new son-in-law and daughter-in-law are. They're even sleeping in the same bed, yet they're acting like guests... How amusing!" A woman leaned out of the kitchen doorway and laughed loudly.

Several women, all in their thirties, followed behind her.

Su Xueli knew all these women, but now she had to pretend not to, because she wouldn't have any contact with them in the future, so it was better not to know them.

She pretended to be shy, lowered her head, and remained silent, leaving the awkward situation to her new son-in-law.

Wei Ming knew these women were not to be trifled with, and that they were very flirtatious, so he quickly got up and said, "Come on, ladies, let's go back inside and I'll get you some candy."

With that, he stretched out his long arm and pushed the women toward their new house, leaving Su Shirley to eat alone in the kitchen.

She was hungry, and since she was all alone, she started eating heartily.

The aroma of meat and steamed buns filled the air in this era. She ate a steamed bun, a bowl of vegetables, and finished a bowl of rice soup. She let out a satisfied burp and got up to wash the dishes.

"Oh dear, a new bride can't wash dishes for three days, let me do it!" Cao Maizi came in and snatched the bowls and chopsticks from her hands.
