Chapter 102 You Are My Calamity (Part 2)

"Commander Liu is here?" The station chief hurriedly went to greet Commander Liu as he entered.

"I've come to see Zhou Xing. You're going back tomorrow, right? I'll send a car to take you to the train station," Commander Liu asked cautiously.

"You've gone to so much trouble, but there's a patient here, and there's nothing I can do." Zhou Xing's face was gloomy. Even Qin Xiaoyu thought he was impolite; someone had come to ask him so earnestly, and he still had such a dark expression.

“Go back and apologize to the old commander. It was my fault that your sister was frightened in my territory!” Commander Liu said, his eyes filled with fear.

"It's all over now. Thank you for your hard work. The guards can leave now," Zhou Xing said without looking up.

While he was saying these words, the director stood still without daring to move. Only after seeing Commander Liu take his leave did he cautiously follow him out.

Qin Xiaoyu then realized that two guards were stationed outside her room every night.

Zhou Xing didn't drink, and Zhou Yue, who usually doesn't drink, suddenly drank a bottle of beer today for some reason. Qin Xiaoyu guessed that she had been exhausted these past few days and wanted to drink some alcohol to get a good night's sleep.

They went to bed early that night. Qin Xiaoyu closed her eyes and thought about what happened that night. Her mind was clear, as if the moonlight was still shining on her. She was not sleepy at all.

Zhou Yue was lying peacefully under the covers when she suddenly stirred, her shoulders trembling as if she were crying.

"What's wrong?" Qin Xiaoyu panicked and quickly got up to go over.

"It's okay, you go to sleep." Zhou Yue cried so hard her nose was stuffy and her voice was nasal, but she still argued back.

"Tell me, what's wrong?" Qin Xiaoyu, stubborn as ever, turned on the light.

"Little Fish, I'm scared." After saying that, Zhou Yue covered her face and started to sob.

"What are you afraid of? Having a nightmare?" Qin Xiaoyu quickly put her hand on her shoulder.

"I'm afraid of you, you and Zhou Xing..."

"..."

Qin Xiaoyu was somewhat speechless.

“You all think I’m stupid, that I don’t understand anything. But I saw it long ago: Zhou Xing likes you. That silly boy has always been stubborn. He has to get what he likes. Even if my dad beats him to death, he won’t turn back,” Zhou Yue said, sobbing.

"It's no use that he likes me." Qin Xiaoyu bit her lip with her small, white teeth, using a little force, and it hurt.

"Xiaoyu, don't be angry when I say this, but with your current status, you can't enter our family. Even if my mother ruins this family, she will never let you be her daughter-in-law..." Zhou Yue raised her head and looked at Qin Xiaoyu with pleading eyes.

"I told you, I won't do anything." Qin Xiaoyu felt disgusted when she heard this. If they looked down on her, why did they even bother getting close to her? The Zhou family is truly disgusting.

"Little Fish, don't be angry. Promise me you won't provoke Zhou Xing, okay?"

"I promise you, go to sleep." Qin Xiaoyu's heart was ice-cold, and she couldn't be bothered to say another word to Zhou Yue.

“Xiaoyu, you have a master, an apprentice, a sister-in-law, and many people around you. Everyone likes me, but I only have you. I can’t lose you…” Zhou Yue grinned and burst into tears.

Qin Xiaoyu sat up again, stared blankly at Zhou Yue for a moment, sighed, and hugged her in her arms.

"Little Fish, you don't understand. I've never had any friends since I was a child. Now I finally have you. Only with you can I find a sense of equality. I can't live without you..." Zhou Yue cried so miserably.

Although Qin Xiaoyu was also touched, she still had some unkind thoughts. The commander's daughter found a sense of equality in her? Isn't that strange?

After finally calming Zhou Yue down, Qin Xiaoyu was wide awake. Zhou Yue, with red eyes, was still sobbing.

"Do you think I'm especially happy?" Zhou Yue asked with a wry smile.

"Yeah, you're a genius at being born into the right family. Who wouldn't envy you?"

"If you were me, you wouldn't be so envious. You might wonder why I don't have any friends? Unfortunately, that's the truth."

A large part of Zhou Yue's tragedy was caused by Commander Zhou. When she was four years old, a regimental commander's son was being naughty and threw a small stone, which hit her on the forehead and drew some blood.

When Commander Zhou returned from the exercise and saw that his daughter was injured, he was so angry that he rushed out and pointed a gun at the head of a thirteen-year-old boy. The boy was so scared that he wet himself.

From that moment on, Zhou Yue's name became taboo in the military compound. Every parent was telling their child to stay away from Zhou Yue. Did you hear me? Stay away from Zhou Yue! Don't touch her, don't even look at her!

Zhou Yue was as transparent as air; her childhood was so lonely that she needed to find a few soldiers to play jump rope with her.

After starting school, she had a chance to be reborn, because there were no schools in the army, and all the children of military personnel went to local primary schools.

There weren't many children in the military, and their ages varied, so Zhou Yue enjoyed a normal month or so.

Playing games like "drop the handkerchief" and jumping rope with her female classmates was the happiest month for Zhou Yue.

Later, she offended a girl in her class. Actually, it wasn't her fault. It was because Zhou Xing's mother brought her a pencil case from Shanghai, which made the girl jealous, and she smashed it in a fit of anger.

Girls all love their babies, and Zhou Yue was no exception. She went home wiping away her tears. The next day, the homeroom teacher was called in by the principal and severely criticized, and the girl was forced to transfer schools.

From then on, Zhou Yue became all alone again, spending her primary and secondary school years in desolate silence.

After graduating from high school, she didn't get into university. Her family was so well-off that they certainly wouldn't let her go out to work. She was completely isolated from the world until her family arranged a marriage for her.

After hearing her story, Qin Xiaoyu felt a chill run down her spine. What a terrible life this was! She felt deep sympathy for Zhou Yue.

"Sister Xiaoyue, how could no one like such a kind girl like you? Look at the people at the hairdressing school, they all like you going there. Just interact with more people in the future, and no one will reject you," Qin Xiaoyu comforted her gently.

“Yes, I like going to hairdressing school because the people there don’t think I’m anything special. They can joke with me, and it feels so good to be treated like this.” Zhou Yue said, then blinked her eyes and said, “Xiaoyu, you must promise me that you won’t ruin our current relationship, otherwise everyone will get hurt, including Hanhan and Xiaomei.”

Qin Xiaoyu felt a chill run down her spine; indeed, she couldn't bear the consequences.

"Don't worry, I said I wouldn't marry him, and I wasn't joking, I meant it." Qin Xiaoyu assured Zhou Yue again, which was also a reminder to herself. The budding idea had been nipped in the bud.

On the train, the three men were unusually silent, each lost in their own thoughts.

Several times, Qin Xiaoyu felt Zhou Xing's gaze. When she looked up, he was already looking at something else.

After getting off the train, Zhou Xing did not travel with them. Commander Zhou sent a car to pick them up, and they went directly to the Zhou family home.

The two children hadn't seen their mother for three days and were so worried they didn't know what to do. They hugged Qin Xiaoyu and kissed her on both sides.

"Why does Xiaoyu seem to have lost a lot of weight?" Zhou Xing's mother noticed.
