"I ate something that upset my stomach. I was vomiting and had diarrhea all day. Otherwise, I would have come back yesterday," Zhou Yue hurriedly explained.
"No wonder you came back so late. You have to be careful when eating out. Little sister, come here, Grandma will take you to your piano lesson." Zhou Xing's mother stood up and pulled her little sister over. Looking at her cautious eyes, it was as if Qin Xiaoyu was the virus itself, contagious.
Commander Zhou didn't hesitate and cautiously called Hanhan over and took her away, leaving Qin Xiaoyu both amused and exasperated.
The sound of a piano came from upstairs, and Qin Xiaoyu suddenly remembered when her little sister had started learning the piano.
“My mom heard from the doctor that learning music would be good for my little sister, so she bought a piano and found a teacher,” Zhou Yue said with a smile.
"This is too extravagant!" Qin Xiaoyu exclaimed in astonishment.
"If they like it, that's fine. What can you do about it? Anyway, I can't control it. Sigh, I've fallen out of favor. Take me with you, you can take care of me, and I'll switch with the two of them." Zhou Yue hugged Qin Xiaoyu and acted coquettishly.
"Come on, I can't afford to support you, it's too expensive." Qin Xiaoyu deliberately teased her.
She felt very guilty for leaving without bringing any gifts, but the school was in perfect order, thanks to Mr. Wang's excellent management.
Qin Xiaoyu was very pleased. She felt that, as things stood, the school could function just as well without her, and she could continue to increase her efforts and open up a larger battlefield.
"You've been gone these past few days, and Qi Si has been coming every day..." Master Wang shut his mouth, and as soon as he spoke of Cao Cao, Cao Cao arrived.
"How come the girl has lost so much weight?" Qi Si frowned.
"Brother, you've gained quite a bit of weight." Qin Xiaoyu noticed that Qi Si's belly was starting to show, which clearly indicated that he was living a comfortable life, which was a good thing.
"You didn't even say goodbye, and you've been gone for so many days," Qi Si complained.
"Don't even mention it, brother, you even saved my life." Qin Xiaoyu's expression still changed a little when she thought about what happened that night.
"What do you mean?" Qi Si's smile vanished.
Qin Xiaoyu then realized that she had spoken out of turn again, but it was too late to take it back. She could only give a rough answer, even making up the address, hoping to get away with it.
"I have something to do, so I'll be leaving now." Qi Si didn't say much about the matter. He asked the question and that was it. He didn't even offer a word of comfort or mention the welcome dinner for Qin Xiaoyu again before leaving in a hurry.
Qin Xiaoyu had originally wanted to have a hot pot meal to calm her nerves, but seeing his disappointment, she couldn't help but pout.
When she took her two siblings back to the Tang family home, she bought a large bag of fruit and canned goods. It was unclear where she bought these items; she just went along with it.
Grandma Hanhan sighed for a long time after hearing that her younger sister's illness was difficult to cure.
"How come you've lost so much weight after just one trip?" Grandma Hanhan was still concerned about Qin Xiaoyu.
"Mom, I got carsick and threw up, but I'm fine."
"You get carsick? Then try to avoid car rides. I'll make you some porridge tonight, with pickled cucumbers and sesame oil to whet your appetite, okay?"
"I love everything my mom makes."
"You're so good at sweet-talking people," Grandma Hanhan said with a hint of disdain, but she walked out with a brisk pace, clearly enjoying the compliment.
The wife was interested in hearing about the scenery of the provincial capital. Although Qin Xiaoyu was unwilling to mention the Zhou family, some things were accidentally let slip by Hanhan. The wife kept asking, so she had no choice but to give a brief explanation.
"Oh my, this is incredible! What a high-ranking official he is!" my cousin-in-law exclaimed.
"That's no ordinary person," the sister-in-law said, giving Qin Xiaoyu a meaningful look.
"Hanhan is lucky; people are drawn to each other." With one sentence, the lady shut them all up.
Qin Xiaoyu had just recovered and was still very weak, so she slept soundly and woke up late. Hanhan and her younger sister were taken to play in the upstairs room, as Hanhan's grandmother was afraid of disturbing her.
"Mom, I got up too late." Qin Xiaoyu said as she put on her clothes and shoes.
"What's the rush? Getting some rest is the most important thing. The school can still do without you. Come and drink your porridge, it's been kept warm for you." Grandma Hanhan was determined not to let her go until she drank the porridge, so Qin Xiaoyu had no choice but to obediently follow her.
"You should buy some decent clothes. Look how thin you've gotten; these clothes look like big robes to you. Even your sister-in-law looks better in them." Grandma Hanhan sat to the side watching Qin Xiaoyu eat her porridge, her mouth never stopping.
"That's fine, no need to buy, it'll just attract attention." Qin Xiaoyu said casually. Grandma Hanhan's eyes reddened, she turned to look out the window, and fell silent.
When Qin Xiaoyu arrived at the school gate, she sensed that something was off.
The students all gathered around a window, looking inside.
"What are you doing instead of going in to practice!" Qin Xiaoyu shouted.
"Little Fish! You've finally arrived! I was about to send someone to look for you!" Master Wang squeezed out from the crowd; it turned out she was at the front, peeking through the window.
"What happened?" Qin Xiaoyu asked, both amused and exasperated.
"Qi Si, you've brought a whole bunch of people here, they've taken up a classroom, they're waiting for you!"
Qin Xiaoyu was startled. Qi Si and she couldn't possibly have any grudges anymore. What did this mean?
She pushed the door open and her legs went weak. The scene was a bit frightening.
There were about twenty people inside. Qi Si was sitting, sprawled out on a recliner, his long legs stretched out. There were more than a dozen people standing, each looking menacing.
The men kneeling on the ground were undoubtedly the ones who had tried to kidnap her back in the provincial capital.
"Brother, this..." Qin Xiaoyu didn't know what to do.
"Girl, you're up so late, you lazybones!" Qi Si complained.
"You..." Qin Xiaoyu walked over with a troubled expression.
"I know you're soft-hearted, and you can let it go, but my sister was almost kidnapped. I don't care how I'll face people after this." Qi Si stood up, put his hands behind his back, and walked up to the group of people.
"Brother, I'm scared of you. They didn't do anything to me, they let me go, didn't they..."
"That won't do either. We have to leave a mark. People who have offended me, Qi Si, can't just be let off the hook."
"Don't worry, I won't cause you any trouble. I brought them here just so you could see them. Besides, tell them you're my own sister, that's all. Let's go!" Qi Si waved his hand, and his men methodically led the people out.
"Brother, don't go too far. You're a decent businessman now. We're making big money. Promise me, okay?" Qin Xiaoyu grabbed Qi Si, who was walking at the back, and pleaded.
"Alright, girl, you should get some rest. Your eyes are all dark. I'll treat you to dinner in a few days." After giving his instructions, Qi Si and his men drove away in several cars.
"Oh my god! Oh my god! I was so scared!" Mr. Wang said, still shaken, patting his chest.
"Sister-in-law, what happened?" Tang Wenwen heard that Qin Xiaoyu had returned and ran over to see her. She was also startled by what she saw.
"It's nothing, it's all minor." Seeing Tang Wenwen reminded Qin Xiaoyu of Zhou Xing, and Qin Xiaoyu felt a lump in her throat.
"I've come to pick up Hanhan and my little sister. The piano teacher has been waiting for ages," Zhou Yue said as she ran in.
"Oh dear, I'm sorry, I overslept."
"It's alright, I know you just recovered from your illness. I'm taking the kids with me now." Zhou Yue hurriedly led one child out, and Qin Xiaoyu immediately noticed a car parked in the yard, driven by Zhou Xing.
