Chapter Fifty-One: Helping Him Free

After listening to Xu Wen's description, Wang Shen's tightly furrowed brows remained unchanged. Wang Shen was indeed a complete stranger to Han Mo. His current understanding of her was limited to her identities as a novelist and Xu Xiaolin's sister. If Xu Wen's description was accurate, then Han Mo's private life was truly chaotic.

Wang Shen pondered while observing Xu Wen's expression, trying to gauge the extent of lies in her account. It seemed there weren't any; perhaps they were influenced by personal emotions. However, Xu Wen's eyes held a resolute, almost death-defying look. Xu Wen had said that a dying person's words are often kind, and that was largely true. Who was the man with the large scar on his back that Xu Wen had mentioned? Could he be related to Han Mo's death? How could Han Mo bring a strange man into her home? What kind of relationship did they have? Han Mo's case seemed to involve a great many people.

“I thought everything would be over with that woman’s death. I never expected that even after she died, her ghost would haunt my senior.” Xu Wen’s eyes grew bloodshot, her gaze filled with intense hatred. “I secretly entered his counseling room, and there I found his diary.” With that, Xu Wen opened a drawer and took out a not-too-thick notebook. Wang Shen stared at the notebook in Xu Wen’s hand, mentally calculating how to get his hands on it. Before Wang Shen could come up with a suitable plan, he saw Xu Wen place a glass bottle containing strong acid on the table and pick up a lighter. Xu Wen smiled as she looked at the diary in her hand. The flame from the lighter slowly climbed up the cover of the diary, the tongue of fire soon threatening to engulf the entire book. Xu Wen laughed and threw the flame to the ground, her eyes fixed on the remaining ash in the firelight.

Wang Shen wanted to get up to put out the fire on the diary, but Xu Wen stopped him with a sharp look in her eyes. Xu Wen picked up the glass bottle again, as if guarding her own treasure. "You want to know what's written in the diary? Don't worry, I can tell you." Xu Wen waved her hand at Wang Shen and laughed coldly twice.

"I always thought that woman seduced my senior. I was so wrong. He actually likes that kind of woman? If I had known, I should have found a stepfather and raped myself a few times. Hahaha!" Xu Wen laughed a few more times. "But, my senior is such a noble person, he can't stand such a filthy woman. So, he can have a relationship with her, but he just can't accept her. For the first time, I felt that my senior was so ridiculous, his courage in love is not even as good as mine as a girl. But, when I read the end of the diary, I found that my senior was doing more and more stupid things, so many that I simply couldn't stand it anymore. No, I can't let him be like this, I have to help him get rid of it." With a bang, Xu Wen slammed her hand hard on the table.

"Don't get agitated. You can tell me slowly. What stupid things did your senior do afterward?" Wang Shen was startled, but his tone softened as he tried his best to comfort Xu Wen.

"He actually wanted revenge after he found out that woman was dead! How could a woman like that be worth him doing that!" Xu Wen began to choke up again.

"Revenge? Is your senior sure Han Mo was murdered?" After hearing Xu Wen's words, Wang Shen was shocked, as if he had found a major breakthrough.

“In his diary, he only mentioned that he was certain that the woman wouldn’t commit suicide. I don’t know why he was so sure. But his subsequent actions were just too crazy.” Xu Wen paused, then slowly closed her eyes, as if recalling something.

“He never let me inquire about that woman’s treatment plan, so I had no idea what was happening to her. But through his diary, I discovered that he was actually seeking revenge for that woman. His first target was that woman’s stepfather. Perhaps it was out of a man’s possessiveness. In the diary, I could feel that he hated that woman’s stepfather, so he had to make him pay. He collected all the information about that woman’s stepfather, and later even bribed one of his lovers. He had that lover accuse everything so that the law could punish that woman’s stepfather. I originally thought that all of this would come to an end, but it didn’t. He’s completely insane, absolutely insane! If he had someone expose that woman’s stepfather, I think that would be normal. But then, he actually orchestrated an accident to kill that woman and her friend. I can’t understand what he’s done, I just can’t understand it.” Xu Wen painfully tugged at her hair, then repeatedly squeezed her forehead with her palms while shaking her head slightly.

“I stay in the office late every day, constantly monitoring his condition. He’s in pain, depressed, almost on the verge of collapse. I can’t understand it!” Xu Wen poked her chest, looking at Wang Shen with pained eyes. “I love him so much, but he can’t see it. He’s even doing these things for a dead person. So I’ve decided, I can’t let him go on like this anymore, I want to free him.” A strange smile reappeared on one side of Xu Wen’s face.

"So, you killed him?" Wang Shen's expression darkened as he stared at Xu Wen, awaiting her answer.

“That’s right. If you hadn’t come over last night, he would have been free sooner.” Xu Wen looked at Wang Shen, not denying it at all. “Although he doesn’t like me, it’s alright. He’s not wary of me. Remember I told you? He has a habit of drinking coffee in the morning.”

Wang Shen nodded.

"Actually, he drinks a lot of coffee every day, especially when he's in a bad mood. After you left last night, I stayed with him until very late, and then I poured him a cup of coffee using his own cup. Then I secretly added a little bit of a sedative to the coffee. Because you know, how could a woman like me possibly handle a sober man? And then, my final farewell to him began..."

Xu Wen finally began to recount the process of committing the murder last night...

Last night, after Wang Shen left, the entire psychological clinic fell into its usual silence. Xu Wen walked to the door of the consultation room and saw figures moving around inside. Xu Wen gently knocked on the glass door of the consultation room and asked Song Mu if she needed a cup of coffee. Song Mu agreed. To be honest, Xu Wen should know Song Mu very well. Xu Wen knew that Song Mu always used coffee to temporarily relieve her stress whenever she was in a bad mood.

Xu Wen pushed open the glass door and entered the consultation room. She saw Song Mu sitting in his office chair, one hand constantly pressing his temple. Xu Wen didn't say much, but simply walked to the desk, picked up the water glass on it, and quietly left the office.

The coffee machine started working again, and the slightly shiny, dark liquid slowly flowed into the cup.
