Chapter 26 Preparing for Opening

"Mom, what are we having for lunch?" Du Bin asked, looking at the plastic bag containing his mother's cell phone.

"Pork head, side dishes, and steamed buns."

The shop hadn't prepared any tables or chairs yet, so the family washed their hands, spread some newspapers on the floor, and sat down. Fortunately, it was October, and Yuncheng wasn't cold at all, so a few newspapers were enough. Since they didn't have any tables or chairs, the family didn't rest after dinner and continued working.

By the time school started in the afternoon, the whole family had already repainted all the shelves and were just waiting for the paint to dry before aligning them. Du Chen and Du Bin continued their studies, while Old Du went to the glass shop to find a glassmaker.

Just as Du Chen's mother was standing at the door thinking about how to set up the shop, Du Chen's father came over with the glass shop master.

"Master, look, some of the glass in these glass cabinets are cracked. Please replace some new glass for me." Comrade Lao Du pointed to the broken glass cabinets and said to the master.

"No problem." As he said that, the master took out a tape measure and went to the cabinet to measure the size.

After measuring the dimensions of the parts that needed to be replaced, the craftsman turned to Du Chen's father and said, "These are not big. We have some materials in the shop. I'll go back and cut the glass now. It will be done in a short while. Do you want to install it today or tomorrow?"

"Let's do it today. Then we'll just wait here."

"Okay, then I'll go back and get it now." After saying that, the master hurried back to the shop.

Du Chen's parents didn't want to wait to go home. They picked up the brush and checked the shelves again, fixing the places that were not painted properly. About an hour later, they saw the glass shop master coming over on a tricycle pulling glass.

In a short while, the old craftsman had replaced all the broken glass. After paying, he got on his tricycle and headed back to the shop. Du Chen's parents took rags and began wiping the glass cases. After that, they put away the stationery they had brought in that morning. In short, they were busy all afternoon. Only when Du Chen came to the shop after school did they finish their work for the day.
