Chapter 156 Snakes and Insects Appear

Every day, Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng spent their time cleaning up insect eggs and snake eggs, moving back and forth between their home and yard.

That night, everyone in the base was asleep when, unexpectedly, many snakes slowly crawled into the base and then into the homes of the refugees.

Some are big, some are small, some are poisonous, some are not. They sneak into homes and attack everyone.

Many people die or get injured in their sleep.

At Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing's home, they were sleeping soundly when they suddenly felt a cool sensation beside them, which helped to cool them down in the extremely hot weather.

Chen Zhe's hand touched something cold and soft, and he subconsciously woke up. In the dim light of the night, he saw a snake on his bed.

She was propping herself up to look at him, sticking out her tongue.

Chen Zhe dared not make any big movements, so he quietly took out a dagger from under his pillow.

The moment the snake attacked him, Chen Zhe swiftly and decisively chopped it in two, and the pieces fell onto his bed.

Chen Zhe used his dagger to lift half of the snake's body to examine it; it was a rat snake, a non-venomous species. He had barely calmed himself when he heard Zhang Jing scream.

Chen Zhe frowned, thinking to himself, "Oh no, Zhang Jing is in danger." He immediately got out of bed and ran to Zhang Jing's room.

On Zhang Jing's side, while she was sleeping, she touched something soft and heard a hissing sound. She groggily opened her eyes and saw a snake staring intently at her, which frightened her so much that she couldn't help but scream.

Chen Zhe ran to Zhang Jing's room and saw a python by the bed, staring at Zhang Jing.

When Zhang Jing saw Chen Zhe arrive, she was relieved to see him and was about to open her mouth to speak when she saw Chen Zhe signaling her not to speak or move.

Chen Zhe slowly moved closer to Zhang Jing. The python turned its head and stared at him the moment Chen Zhe entered, hissing occasionally.

The python instantly attacked Chen Zhe. Chen Zhe raised his dagger and fought back, trying to figure out how to kill it without getting bitten.

Zhang Jing was too scared to speak. Watching Chen Zhe deal with the python, she suddenly remembered that there was a gun under her pillow, which Chen Zhe had given her.

He hurriedly pulled a pistol from under his pillow and fired a shot at the python, but missed and instead enraged it.

The python turned and lunged at Zhang Jing. Terrified, Zhang Jing fired another shot at the python. Chen Zhe seized the opportunity and slashed at the python's vital spot. Finally, the python fell.

Chen Zhe ran towards Zhang Jing and asked with concern.

"How are you? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Zhang Jing, with red eyes, remained silent. When she saw Chen Zhe's concern for her, she suddenly threw herself into his arms and burst into tears.

Chen Zhe froze instantly, then comforted Zhang Jing in his arms.

Snakes also got into Zhang Haiyi's house, but they were small and non-venomous, and he quickly dealt with them.

On the other side, Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng were also fast asleep when they vaguely heard crying and shouting outside.

Ye Yunxi thought she had misheard and was about to go back to sleep. But the crying and shouting outside continued unabated.

Ye Yunxi suddenly opened her eyes, sat up, and thought to herself, "Oh no, something's happened at the base!!"

Fu Heng also heard the cries outside. Upon closer listening, he realized that something had happened at the base.

The two exchanged a glance, got up, went out of bed, and walked to the balcony, looking at the people running around outside.

"Snake! Help!"

"Help! Someone, please help me!"

"Help!"

People downstairs were shouting that there was a snake and crying for help.

Ye Yunxi frowned and looked at Fu Heng. "Something's happened at the base. Snakes have gotten in."

Fu Heng said seriously, "Let's check the house thoroughly to see if any snakes have crawled in."

Ye Yunxi nodded and followed Fu Heng back home, where she began to look around to see if any snakes had come in.

The two checked every corner of the house, including the yard, and only returned to their room on the second floor after confirming there were no snakes.

Just then, Ye Yunxi's phone rang. She quickly went to the bedside table, picked up the phone, and saw that it was Gu Qingqing calling.

Gu Qingqing pressed the answer button and said anxiously.

"Sister Yunxi, snakes have entered the base. You and Brother Fuheng should get up and check if there are any in the house."

Ye Yunxi replied, "We just checked, and there's nothing at home right now. How about your side? What's the situation?"

Gu Qingqing continued, "We have some here too. That little snake has already been taken care of by Brother Yi. You're all fine over there, just be careful tonight."

After exchanging a few words with Gu Qingqing, Ye Yunxi hung up the phone. At the same time, she received a call from Chen Zhe.

"Sister Yunxi, are you alright?"

Ye Yunxi said softly, "We're fine here, don't worry. There are snakes over there, Qingqing told me. You and Zhang Jing should be careful. If you get bitten by a venomous snake, go downstairs immediately and find Qingqing for treatment."

Chen Zhe: "Okay, then you and Heng Ge should also be careful."

After Ye Yunxi hung up the phone, Fu Heng's phone rang.

Fu Heng picked up his phone from the bedside table; the screen showed that it was Li Yan calling.

Li Yan: "Fu boy, have any of you been bitten by snakes?"

Fu Heng replied, "Everything's normal on our end. How about Captain Li's side?"

Li Yan: "Don't even mention it. I was bitten by a snake just now. Luckily it was non-venomous, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to contact you. I'm relieved that you're all alright. Okay, that's all for now. I need to take some people to deal with the snake."

Fu Heng said to Li Yan, "Okay, then Captain Li, be careful. Contact us if you need anything."

After Fu Heng finished his call with Li Yan, he looked at Ye Yunxi.

"I just heard from Captain Li that he was bitten by a snake, but it was non-venomous."
