Chapter 71 Accompanying You All the Way

Chapter 71 Accompanying You All the Way

Jiang Ruzhen thought that the two of them would need to go to Beijing by train first, and then transfer to Hangzhou from Beijing.

We were passing through Beijing, so we decided to stop by and visit Xin Xin.

She wasn't in a hurry to buy goods; her main purpose in going to Hangzhou was to relax.

After being reborn, aside from seeking revenge, she never wanted to mistreat herself; in addition to making money, she also wanted to live a good life.

When the second brother heard that Jiang Ruzhen was going to the capital to see his third sister, he was also very happy. After all, the siblings had never been separated for so long since they were young, and he missed his third sister very much.

Because there were too many people going to the capital, and Jiang Ruzhen had no connections, the two of them couldn't buy hard sleeper tickets and spent two days and one night traveling in hard seats to reach the capital.

After getting off the bus, Jiang Ruzhen felt like her back was about to break, so she quickly took her second son and hailed a taxi to the Capital University Guesthouse, where they booked two rooms.

Jiang Ruzhen asked her second son to find Xin Xin, while she went into her space to take a good bath.

After getting ready, she specially chose a rose-red dress that complemented her skin tone, put on off-white leather sandals, put her hair up in a high bun, and applied light makeup.

Her face immediately appeared rosy and delicate, like a flower bud about to bloom.

She had just finished tidying up when she heard a knock at the door.

Jiang Ruzhen smiled broadly and got up to open the door. Shen Shuxin jumped and skipped into her arms.

"Mom! I missed you so much."

"Oh my, how old are you? You're still so good at acting cute." Jiang Ruzhen hugged Shen Shuxin and couldn't help but kiss her twice.

She cupped Shen Shuxin's face in her hands, looking at her from left to right, unable to get enough of her.

Just then, a familiar voice broke in, full of grievance.

"Godmother, you only have eyes for Xin Xin, you can't even see me."

Jiang Ruzhen looked in the direction of the sound and saw Xie Hui standing at the door carrying a bag of fruit.

She smiled gently and reached out to take the fruit, "It's enough that you've come, why did you bring anything..."

Before she could finish speaking, she noticed a big, goofy guy standing behind Xie Hui, grinning at her without saying a word.

"Xie Hui, come in quickly."

Jiang Ruzhen's expression changed instantly. She pulled Xie Hui inside and tried to close the door.

"Mom! Wait a minute, I haven't come in yet." The second son stretched out his foot and blocked the door.

Jiang Ruzhen glared angrily at the second son, "You can come in, but no one else who is not related to this matter is allowed to come in."

The second brother entered with a grin and casually pulled in Lu Mingzheng, who was grinning foolishly.

"What do you mean 'unrelated person'? Uncle Lu is my good brother Xie Hui's godfather. He came to visit Xie Hui. You brought him here by force. What are we supposed to do?"

"You brat, how dare you talk like that? When did I kidnap Xie Hui?"

The second brother winked at Xie Hui, "When I found my third sister, this guy was pestering her with questions."

"Oh dear, I don't know what kind of question a math major would ask a media studies major. It's really strange."

Upon hearing this, Shen Shuxin blushed so much that she almost buried her face in Jiang Ruzhen's arms, but Xie Hui, without blushing or skipping a beat, explained with a smile.

"Godmother, I'm asking Xin Xin for some professional theoretical knowledge about the recent news about reform and opening up in southern China."

Jiang Ruzhen has a sharp eye; she understood seven or eight parts of the situation just by looking at Xie Hui and Xin Xin's behavior.

She never expected her daughter to be so popular; she had only been in school for two months when this brat had his eye on her.

However, she had a good impression of Xie Hui, and she wouldn't object if both of them were interested in each other.

"Alright, you're a steady and responsible guy. I won't interfere with your relationship. But you'll have to keep an eye on Xin Xin for me. If anything happens to her, don't try to hide it from me. You have to tell me, okay?"

Xie Hui nodded quickly. Jiang Ruzhen asked everyone to sit together, washed the fruit and placed it in the middle. Everyone ate and chatted about everyday things.

And so, like a ghost, he stood alone at the door, ignored by everyone.

Jiang Ruzhen inquired about Xin Xin's recent situation. Xin Xin had always been obedient and sensible since childhood, and she never reported bad news. Jiang Ruzhen was a little worried.

After asking Xin Xin, he sought confirmation from Xie Hui, and in the end, Xin Xin pouted, "Mom, how little do you trust me? Is everything Xie Hui says always right?"

Jiang Ruzhen smiled but didn't say anything. The group chatted for a while and then got hungry.

Jiang Ruzhen took them out to eat a famous Peking duck feast in Beijing. The second son excitedly put his arms around Xie Hui and Xin Xin's shoulders and rushed ahead.

Jiang Ruzhen fell behind by a step, giving Lu Mingzheng the opportunity to walk alongside her.

He had been holding it in all morning, and looking at Jiang Ruzhen, who looked exceptionally beautiful today, he blurted out, "You look really good in this dress."

Caught completely off guard, Jiang Ruzhen was suddenly praised, and her first reaction was to feel a little shy.

But when she looked up and saw Lu Mingzheng's face, her expression instantly turned cold.

"I don't want to talk to you."

As she was about to walk forward quickly, Lu Mingzheng grabbed her wrist and whispered.

"Are you still angry?"

Jiang Ruzhen shook off his large hand and said indifferently, "What right do I have to be angry? You are the young master of a wealthy family and a high-ranking general. Everything you do is right."

Upon hearing this, Lu Mingzheng not only didn't get angry, but grinned. He thought Jiang Ruzhen looked good even when she was angry, and even more so when she was being sarcastic.

Her tone softened unconsciously as she coaxed, "I'm nothing in front of you."

Hearing such ambiguous words, Jiang Ruzhen felt a little embarrassed and annoyed. She quickened her pace to catch up with the others, leaving Lu Mingzheng far behind.

Lu Mingzheng looked at Jiang Ruzhen's retreating figure and smiled like an adorable koala.

He didn't care about Jiang Ruzhen's attitude and just silently followed by her side.

When she orders food, he gets the menu for her; when she wants to eat, he serves her rice in advance and hands it to her.

When she reached for some food, he immediately turned her favorite dishes towards her...

At the entire table, everyone's eyes were drawn to Lu Mingzheng and Jiang Ruzhen, with the second brother and Xie Hui exclaiming "Oh!" several times in an exaggerated manner.

Shen Shuxin kept her head down and chuckled, while Jiang Ruzhen rolled her eyes at Lu Mingzheng in anger.

What is he doing in front of the child?

They have absolutely no shame.

After finally getting through the meal, Jiang Ruzhen took Shen Shuxin to the mall and bought a lot of clothes and daily necessities for the changing season.

After sending Shen Shuxin back to her dormitory, she took the second child and rushed to the train station.

Before she could buy a ticket, the second son dragged her into the station and even took her to the sleeper carriage.

"How did you manage to buy a sleeper berth ticket?"

Jiang Ruzhen was stunned. The second brother pointed with his chin at Lu Mingzheng, who was calmly tidying up the bed in the carriage.

"Uncle Lu bought it, don't worry, I paid him."

Is this a question of whether or not to pay?

These days, it's so difficult to even buy a hard sleeper ticket on the train. Does he even know what level of officials people who buy soft sleeper tickets are?

Do ordinary people like them deserve it?

This inadvertently made her owe Lu Mingzheng a huge favor.

Lu Mingzheng turned to look at Jiang Ruzhen and smiled, patting the bed she had just made. "What are you standing there for? Doesn't your back hurt anymore?"

How did he know she had back pain?

Jiang Ruzhen suddenly turned to look at the second brother, her icy gaze almost piercing him through.

That traitor!

The second brother chuckled foolishly a few times. He was also coerced by Uncle Lu. He was so wronged!

He threw his backpack onto the top bunk, climbed up in a few quick movements, and closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep.

He was blind; he couldn't see the overflowing doting and affection in Uncle Lu's eyes when he looked at his mother.

He suddenly felt like he was superfluous!

He regretted it; he shouldn't have come out with his mother.

Jiang Ruzhen sat down angrily. Compared to going back to the hard-seat carriage and smelling the stench of feet and sweat for three days and two nights, she really couldn't bear to leave this soft bed.

Lu Mingzheng crouched down and quietly crept over to her, looking her in the eye and speaking softly.

"Does your back still hurt? Let me massage it for you?"

As she was talking, she actually started to fight. Jiang Ruzhen glanced at the trembling bed upstairs and slapped Lu Mingzheng's big face.

He said angrily, "Get lost! Have some shame!"
