Chapter Ninety-Three: Meeting Gift

“Father, Mother, your unfilial son wishes to return home with you and my sister. For many years, I have been called unfortunate in the family. I want to prove that there is no such thing as destiny, and that the only thing that can truly change the family is our own.”

An Huaishou longed to return home, not for the wealth and glory of his family, but for the deep bond of blood and his determination to strive for a better life.

Although Nanwu Town was nice, it was still just a remote town. An Chaoli knew that only by returning to Shengjing could he access the best learning environment and learn things that he couldn't learn here.

Uncle Yan and Aunt Yan quickly helped An Hui up: "Father and Mother know you are an ambitious child. This place has never belonged to you. It's good that you're back, it's good."

Although the two elderly people were reluctant, they were rational people and both agreed.

However, they declined the gifts brought by An Chaoli: "You have sent enough gifts to our home over the years. Although the Yan family is not wealthy, we are willing to earn our money through our own labor. We cannot accept this generous gift."

“Uncle, Aunt, I am truly grateful to you for raising me for so many years. I would feel terrible if you didn’t accept this.”

After repeated persuasion from An Chaoli, the Yan family only accepted some silver, but refused to accept the land deeds under any circumstances.

An Huaishou was a dutiful son. The rice in the Yan family's fields was ready for harvest. The two elderly people were in poor health and had only one daughter. He offered to stay in Nanwu Town for a couple more days to help the Yan family harvest the rice before returning home with his father.

An Yuan'er was happy as long as her brother was willing to come back. So the father and daughter stayed at the Yan family's house for a few days before returning home.

The Yan family only had three rooms. An Chaoli and An Huishou lived in one room, and Aunt Yan gave up her daughter Cuizhen's room for An Yuan'er to live in, so that Cuizhen could stay with them for a few days.

Aunt Yan was very hospitable. She brought out the chicken and pork that she usually couldn't bear to eat and warmly entertained her guests.

It was during the meal that An Yuan'er discovered that Uncle Yan and Aunt Yan had a daughter named Cuizhen.

Cuizhen hid behind Aunt Yan, trembling.

An Yuan'er thought: I shouldn't be that much like a bad girl!

To show her friendliness, An Yuan'er waved generously and said with a smile, "Hello, Cuizhen. I am An Yuan'er."

Cuizhen's lips moved slightly, but she didn't say anything.

Aunt Yan explained, "Zhen'er is shy, Miss An, please don't take offense."

An Yuan'er didn't take it to heart. Uncle Yan and Aunt Yan were both kind-hearted people, so their daughter probably wouldn't be too bad either.

An Yuan'er stepped forward and took off the small flower bracelet she had made herself: "Cuizhen, this is for you. Thank you for letting me stay in your room."

The small flower bracelet is inlaid with a pearl and surrounded by dried roses; it was made by An Yuan'er herself.

Uncle Yan and Aunt Yan are not greedy people, so An Yuan'er was careful to be considerate and chose a bracelet that was not expensive but had a clever design as a gift.

Cuizhen held the bracelet in her hand and looked up at her parents.

Aunt Yan nodded: "Since it's a gift from Miss An, you should accept it."

Cuizhen didn't put the bracelet on immediately, but put it in her pocket.

An enticing aroma wafted from the kitchen; An Huishou was in charge of cooking today.

"Zhen'er, Yuan'er, time to eat."

The two younger sisters responded in unison, "Brother, eat with us too."
