Chapter Seventy-Three: Pampering

Li Chu returned to his office, took off his white coat and soaked it in a basin, then rode his bicycle home.

Fortunately, Uncle San knew that Li Chu was unsure when he would return tonight, so he didn't lock the gate; otherwise, he would have had to sleep in his office tonight.

He quietly pushed open the door. The smell of blood on his body attracted Xiao Hei, who rushed over and whimpered at him. After recognizing him, Xiao Hei sniffed around him, wagged its tail, and went back to its den.

Li Chu filled a basin with hot water, washed himself in the bathroom, and then tiptoed upstairs to the second floor. He didn't dare turn on the light in the bedroom, afraid of waking his wife. He turned on the flashlight and saw that Ding Qiunan still had a pair of scissors beside her pillow. After getting into bed, he noticed that his wife was sleeping in a sweater and long underwear tonight.

Miss Ding also had a restless night. It was the first time in so long of her marriage that she was home alone. Before going to bed, she considered going to the hospital to see Li Chu several times, but she didn't know what was going on there and was afraid of causing him trouble, so she held back her thoughts.

I didn't dare take off my clothes when I went to bed. I finally took a pair of scissors and put them next to my pillow before I slowly fell asleep. I vaguely felt someone next to me and woke up with a start. I reached for the scissors, but when I heard my man's voice, I calmed down and turned around to hug him tightly.

As soon as Li Chu got into bed, he felt Ding Qiunan move. He then saw the girl reach for the scissors. He quickly hugged her and whispered in her ear, "Honey, it's me, I'm back."

"Why are you only coming back now? You scared me to death!" Feeling his wife hug him, Li Chu patted her back: "Don't be scared, don't be scared."

Ding Qiunan nestled in his arms, then suddenly looked up and sniffed: "What do you smell like?"

Sure enough, every woman has a keen sense of smell and can easily detect any difference in her husband's scent. "There's a bit of blood in it, isn't there? There was some blood on my white coat from a patient," Li Chu explained simply, then patted Ding Qiunan on the back: "Go to sleep, honey. It's getting late, you have to go to work tomorrow."

"Hmm~~~" Ding Qiunan twisted her body in his arms: "Help me take off my clothes, otherwise I won't be able to sleep comfortably. I didn't dare to take them off until you came back."

Upon hearing this, Li Chu could only sit up and help him take off his sweater and trousers before lying down again. Ding Qiunan skillfully snuggled into his arms, draped her legs over his stomach, wrapped one arm around him, and rested her head on his shoulder, rubbing against him gently before finally saying, "That's comfortable now, go to sleep."

He muttered helplessly to himself, "You're comfortable now, you can sleep, but what about me? Hmm?"

Just as he was feeling down, he felt the girl's small hand slowly slide down his stomach, and then he heard her sweet voice: "Husband, are you having trouble sleeping?"

Li Chu nodded, then realized the light wasn't on, and quickly replied, "Mm."

Before she could finish speaking, Miss Ding had already propped herself up and straddled him.

"hiss……"

Although he went to bed very late at night, Li Chu still woke up around five o'clock.

Carefully breaking free from Miss Ding's jade-like arms, he stood down by the bed.

It was still dark outside. Li Chu turned on his flashlight and looked back at the girl who was still asleep.

I took Xiao Hei out for a walk and saw that the restaurants along the roadside had started selling breakfast. On the way back, I bought a few big steamed buns.

When I got home, I put the steamed buns in the steamer and covered the pot with the lid to keep them warm. After cleaning myself up, I took a mop upstairs and wiped up the water stains on the floor.

After everything was finished, they finally woke up the sleeping girl, Xiao Ding.

The girl acted like she was being stubborn and refused to move, so Li Chu had no choice but to lift her onto his lap and dress her himself.

Ding Qiunan is now increasingly fond of acting coquettishly towards him and enjoys her husband's doting on her.

She had imagined what married life would be like many times, but she never expected it to be like this.

She always thought that after getting married, she would be like her mother, spending her days around the stove and sink, doing endless housework, and slowly turning into a haggard housewife.

Actually, Ding's father is already very good to Ding's mother, and he even helps with some housework.

Most importantly, Ding's father never argues with Ding's mother. Whenever he makes Ding's mother angry, Ding's father will take the initiative to back down.

Ding Qiunan had heard too many stories of couples bickering, arguing, and even fighting.

She always felt that if she were to marry someone like her father, that would be wonderful.

Reality gave her a big surprise: her husband not only earned money to support the family, but also took the initiative to do her laundry and cook for her when he came home, and was very considerate to her.

In all the years they've been married, she has never gotten up earlier than Li Chu in the morning. Every time, Li Chu prepares breakfast before coming up to wake her up.

All of this made her feel that she was the happiest woman in the world.

Of course, Ding Qiunan wasn't idle and spoiled at home. The clothes Li Chu wore, including his favorite cloth shoes, were all sewn by the girl herself.

When Li Chu was dressing the girl, she sat obediently on his lap, laughing like a fool.

After finishing breakfast and seeing Ding Qiunan off, Li Chu turned around and went upstairs to the second floor. He was going to take another nap today.

When I came to work in the afternoon, as soon as I entered the hospital gate, I saw a lot of people gathered around the morgue, and I could faintly hear wailing.

The injured men who were brought in for emergency treatment yesterday were all men in their thirties or forties, the age when they have elderly parents and young children to support, and each of them is the pillar of their family.

Suddenly, someone is gone. You can imagine what life will be like for the family afterward.

Li Chu looked over there, shook his head slightly, and walked towards his office.

Dr. Luo wasn't in the office. Li Chu first washed the white coat that she had soaked in the water when she left early this morning with soap, hung it out to dry in the open space behind the office, and then took out a clean one from the cabinet and put it on.

On the first day back to work after the New Year holiday, he planned to visit Director Liang.

The office door was pushed open with a bang.

"Happy New Year, Director Liang! I was just about to go to your place."

"Happy New Year, Xiao Li! You must have had a hard night. I never expected something like this to happen during the New Year."

"Yes, who would have thought such a big accident would happen during the Spring Festival? Sigh!" Li Chu sighed as he thought of the injured people who were brought in last night.

When the topic came up, both of them fell silent.
