Chapter 25: Big Difference

Chapter 25: Big Difference

"What's your name! I want to find your teacher!"

Although Zhang Wei felt a little embarrassed, she was not scared by this angry middle-aged woman. To be honest, among all the people she had met so far, this short and fat woman was the one who best fit Zhang Wei's impression of an American aunt.

Whether it was her raised eyebrows, her wide-open eyes, or her hair gathered up in a ball, the aura of impatience emanating from her whole body made her like a powder keg ready to explode.

Zhang Wei took the book, spread out his hands, and said calmly: "Sorry, I just want to take it out and have a look. If you want to find the teacher, she is over there." Then he pointed to Teacher Ye Zi to her.

Ms. Tinderbox didn't even look at Teacher Leaf. She just said sternly in a low voice, trying very hard to control herself:

"You are so uneducated! You'd better not let me catch you again, or I won't let you go!"

Zhang Wei originally felt that she was a little guilty, but she didn't think it was a big deal, and she didn't damage anything. If she was really a little girl, she would probably have been scared.

She didn't believe that it was Tifield's style to threaten a child so harshly, so Zhang Wei turned and walked towards Teacher Ye. In her questioning eyes, she said:

"Teacher Lievs, I used my foot to support the bookshelf when I was taking a book just now. I'm afraid I angered that lady. I apologize."

When Teacher Ye Zi turned around, all that was left was a fat back.

She said to Zhang Wei gently, "It's okay, Vera. Meili is the librarian. She's a serious person and won't be angry with you. If it's inconvenient for you to get the book next time, I can help you."

"Okay, thank you." Zhang Wei didn't take this powder keg Meili seriously. He took the book and started reading.

It was difficult to read the original book quickly. Although she could understand the general meaning through most of the words, she always encountered a few uncommon words. It seemed that she needed to bring a notebook next time.

After reading a few pages, it was time to end the get out of class. The book could be put back or borrowed to take home, so Zhang Wei decided to borrow it.

The person who handled the formalities was that powder keg, Meili, who looked at Zhang Wei expressionlessly.

"I want to borrow this book."

She remained motionless when she heard Zhang Wei speak. Just then, Teacher Yezi came over and said, "Vera, come back to the classroom after you've borrowed the book!"

"If you damage it, you will have to pay 10 times the price as compensation." The administrator Mary said this immediately, wrote something on a piece of paper, and threw the book on the table.

Zhang Wei then took the book and returned to the classroom.

Then I had a science class and a math class. The class time and break time were about the same as in China. The math was indeed quite simple, but in China, first graders only do simple addition and subtraction.

The science class is quite interesting. We need to do experiments and fill out experimental reports by ourselves. It is a relatively simple tension experiment. There are many pages in the experimental report. The front part requires a simple description of the experimental process, and the back part contains the conclusions and conjectures.

Guessing was truly a test for Zhang Wei. She felt like she had completely lost her imagination and could only make up some seemingly innocent questions...

The morning classes ended at around 10:30 and we had lunch at 11:00.

During this morning, except for the science experiments when Zhang Wei was in a group with Dora and the others, she had little communication with the other children in the class. They all had their own partners, and Namier was always surrounded by three or four friends.

What Zhang Wei found most amazing was that in such a school with excellent conditions in all aspects, all the classes in the morning were taught by Teacher Ye Zi, who is a general teacher!

The better schools in China have teachers who specialize in specific subjects. Only in economically underdeveloped areas are there generalist teachers. It is completely different from here.

Zhang Wei found that although Teacher Shuye did not teach many knowledge points in class, the knowledge was very systematic, from shallow to deep, focusing on the development of thinking, and every student could receive the teacher's attention, which is also the biggest advantage of small-class teaching.

There was a half-hour break before lunch, so Zhang Wei took out "The Three Musketeers" and took notes while reading it.

She could feel the small group nearby observing and discussing her. Feeling someone approaching, Zhang Wei's mouth curled up. It seemed that these children were not as patient as she had imagined.

Zhang Wei's eyes moved away from the book. Standing in front of her desk was the short-haired Dora who disliked her own name. She was staring at Zhang Wei's copy of The Three Musketeers, then raised her neck and said:

"This book has been on my bookshelf since I was five. Perhaps we can discuss it sometime?"

"Of course, but I've only just started watching it. I hope I can catch up with you."

Zhang Wei still likes this kind of little Loli with personality. Although she can see that Dora is just looking for a topic, she is happy to cooperate. She will have to stay with these classmates for many years, and it is not good to be too unsociable.

"Well... of course, I'm almost done reading it, you'd better speed up." Dora's voice had a hint of awkwardness, a lack of confidence and forced effort.

"Okay, I will. I look forward to communicating with you." Zhang Wei also answered seriously.

After she returned to her seat, several little girls gathered around her and whispered to each other again, and then it was lunch time.

The food provided included schnitzel, bacon, vegetable salad and milk. They were all convenience dishes. It was hard to say whether they were delicious or not, but they tasted just average. Zhang Wei had long given up on pursuing taste here. After eating, she left the classroom and prepared to take a walk outside to digest the food.

And she couldn't walk too far because her afternoon class would start in twenty minutes.

There is no habit of taking a nap in the primary schools here. Maybe the children are energetic and don’t particularly need a nap. However, Zhang Wei takes a nap after work, so even though she has become a child, some habits cannot be changed for the time being. I hope she won’t feel sleepy in the afternoon.

She walked around the teaching building and found some students squatting in the bushes downstairs. From the sound, it sounded like a boy and a girl. Without listening carefully to what they were saying, she walked past quickly to avoid disturbing them.

There is a very large open-air sports field in an area farther away from the teaching building, where some older children run and exercise. Overall, this school is quite lively.

Zhang Wei hadn't looked at the schedule carefully before, and only then did he realize that he had four classes in the afternoon, from 11:45 to 3:00 in the afternoon.

The courses include reading and writing, physical education, social studies and grammar. This means that I don’t have fewer classes than in China, and I’m not having fun...

After reading a popular science article about the formation of lightning in her reading and writing class, she was learning basic volleyball skills on the indoor sports field with her assigned composition homework. As she continued to finish her last two classes with a tired body, Teacher Ye Zi found her alone...
