"Mom, who are you cursing?" Chen Zongyue heard Gao Juan cursing as he came over.
Gao Juan was already angry, and when she saw her son, she hurriedly said, "A little girl, dressed so well, but she speaks so rudely. I don't know how her parents raised her."
"Those kinds of people look like they come from the countryside; even if they wear nice clothes, they can't shake off their rustic nature."
Zhou Sui was certainly not as she described, but now she could only feel better by verbally belittling her.
"Let me tell you, you can't marry any girl from this village. Like that girl you mentioned before, I haven't even met her, but I can already tell she's petty and stingy."
“Zong Yue is a working man now, so he needs to find a girl from the city.”
Gao Juan straightened her son's collar, and looked at him with increasing satisfaction.
"Oh right, which classmate did you say you were going to have dinner with?" Gao Juan remembered her important matter.
"Yes, Xiaomin, you've met her before."
Gao Juan immediately remembered, "It's the one in my family who's a teacher at the school."
Chen Zongyue nodded.
“Then Mom will go with you. I haven’t seen Xiaomin for many years. Let’s see how she is now?” Gao Juan said, taking her son’s hand.
"Mom, where are you going? You just got off your night shift. Go back to sleep." Chen Zongyue pulled Gao Juan's hand down and started to walk away.
Gao Juan quickly opened her bag, took out some money, and stuffed it into Chen Zongyue's hand.
"Okay, Mom won't go. She stayed up late last night and looks pale."
"Take this money and take Xiaomin out for a nice meal. Get along well with her. She's a college student, and the government will arrange a job for her after she graduates."
Chen Zongyue naturally understood what Gao Juan meant. He took the money from Gao Juan, responded, and walked away.
As soon as school let out at noon, students came out in twos and threes.
Chen Zongyue stood by the door, his eyes scanning the faces of the female students passing by. Many of them were pretty, but Chen Zongyue could tell from their clothes and appearance that they came from poor families.
After looking for a while, he finally saw the person he wanted to see, "Xiaomin, Xiaomin."
Because there were people in between, Chen Zongyue could only shout loudly and wave at Xiaomin.
He was handsome and dressed appropriately. While others were wearing cotton-padded coats in this cold weather, he was already wearing an overcoat. Even when he stood at the door, quite a few girls still secretly glanced at him.
"Xiaomin, someone's calling you. Is it your boyfriend? He's so handsome."
"Don't talk nonsense, that's my junior high school classmate." Xiaomin said coquettishly to her companions, "I'm going first, I won't be having lunch with you today."
"Go on, go on, and come back and give us a proper explanation."
Xiaomin walked through the crowd toward Chen Zongyue. Her hair was loose, she wore a thick scarf and leather shoes, and she looked graceful and elegant.
"Luckily, I was keeping a close eye on things, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed you walk past." Chen Zongyue took a step back, leading Xiaomin over so as not to block the doorway.
“You’re such a handsome young man standing at the door, you’re very conspicuous. You can’t see me, but I can see you.”
The two had met several times before, so they spoke quite casually.
"It's my honor to receive your praise," Chen Zongyue said with a polite smile, also complimenting Xiaomin as well.
"Of all the people who come out, you manage to stand out at a glance."
Praise is always welcome, and Xiaomin is pretty and knows how to dress, so everyone around her says she's beautiful.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Xiaomin took the initiative to say, "There's a snack shop that opened on the back street of our school. It's really delicious. I'll take you to try it."
"A snack shop?" And it's located on a back street. Is the owner crazy or stupid?
"Yes, let's go, or we'll have to queue if we go any later." They're at the front entrance now, and it will take them a while to get to the back entrance.
Chen Zongyue was somewhat resistant, "I finally have time to treat you to a meal, so we have to make sure it's something you don't usually eat."
But Xiaomin was already thinking about the food at the snack shop. "Listen to me, let's go, you definitely won't regret it if you eat there."
"And there's also a milk tea shop next to that snack shop. I didn't even know what milk tea was. Now that you're here, let's go try it together."
The term "milk tea" was indeed novel, but Chen Zongyue still followed Xiaomin into the back alley.
He had assumed it was a sparsely populated shop and was prepared not to eat anything.
However, as we got closer, we could see many students going into a shop.
“Look, it’s over there,” Xiaomin said, pointing to the orange storefront.
Upon seeing the character "Zhou," Chen Zongyue subconsciously thought of Zhou Sui, feeling a pang of regret. He quite liked Zhou Sui, but unfortunately, she was ungrateful and didn't have the good fortune to live in the city.
When the two went inside, they found that the first floor was already full. Xiaomin quickly pulled them upstairs, used their scarves to reserve seats, and then went to order food.
Chen Zongyue glanced at the menu and saw that the prices weren't expensive, so he handed it to Xiaomin without worry.
"I've never had this before, why don't you order some?"
While waiting for the food to be served, Xiaomin told Chen Zongyue about the restaurant, "It just opened on the day school started, and there are so many people coming to eat here."
"This boss is very clever. She found students from the school to help her distribute flyers and paid them wages. Now, I'm afraid there's no student in the entire school who doesn't know about Zhou's Snack Shop."
Chen Zongyue sat upright on the stool with a faint smile on his face. "The owner of this place must be quite capable. He probably has a lot of experience and dares to open a business here."
Xiaomin shook her head and said mysteriously, "Do you think the owner of this shop is a very mature middle-aged man?"
Chen Zongyue nodded, "That's about right."
“No.” Xiaomin looked at her with admiration. “She’s a very young girl. I’ve met her once. She’s about our age and very beautiful. I feel like even the most beautiful girl in our school doesn’t compare to her.”
Chen Zongyue didn't know what the school beauty looked like, but for Xiaomin to describe her like that, she must be incredibly beautiful.
"Hey, hey, she's coming in!" Xiaomin suddenly pointed excitedly to the first floor, "She's the one with her hair tied up in front of the counter."
