Chapter 138: Make a Deal
Song Yi didn't know the real motivation behind Fu Xijing's words, he just thought that he was unhappy that she revealed her little thoughts in front of him.
"I'll go cook." Song Yi chose not to respond and was about to take the shopping bag from his hand.
Fu Xijing dodged, put the bag back, and said lightly: "Let's go together."
Together?
Before Song Yi had time to savor the meaning of these two words, Fu Xijing had already taken the lead and walked away.
Song Yi followed closely, and the two of them entered the kitchen one after the other.
Fu Xijing took the things out of the shopping bag and placed them on the counter. He rolled up his sleeves and said to Song Yi, "I can help you."
Song Yi didn't know what was wrong with Fu Xijing, and he even helped...
The first time in so many years.
"No need, I can do it faster by myself." Song Yi didn't think Fu Xijing was capable of helping, so he directly rejected him.
Fu Xijing raised his eyebrows, "You look down on me?"
Song Yi: "I dare not."
Fu Xijing: "It's not that you don't dare, but your true thoughts have been exposed."
Song Yi didn't respond.
Fu Xijing picked up the broccoli and bok choy and walked to the sink, quite self-consciously.
Song Yi subconsciously followed him and watched him unpack and pick vegetables. His movements were not very skilled, but not as unfamiliar as she had imagined.
So she didn't care and took out the meat to cut it.
Song Yi bought pork tenderloin today, but because Miki was not there, the sweet and sour pork was temporarily replaced with stir-fried pork with onions.
Because Fu Xijing doesn't like sweet food.
When Song Yi finished cutting the meat, Fu Xijing also brought over the washed vegetables.
Song Yi said "thank you" out of habit.
Fu Xijing wiped his hands and asked her, "What else do you need me to do?"
"Do you know how to steam rice?" Song Yi didn't be polite to him this time.
Fu Xijing: "I'm not sure about the proportions, but I can follow your instructions."
At that time, Song Yi had already lit the fire to prepare the soup, and he had no hands free, so he listened to Fu Xijing and instructed him to do it.
"There's a measuring cup in the drawer. You put two cups of rice in it and two and a half cups of water in it. Then, turn the rice cooker to the rice mode."
"Okay." Fu Xijing carried out Song Yi's task in an orderly manner.
A few minutes later, the rice cooker entered working mode, and Fu Xijing asked again: "Are there any more tasks?"
Song Yi closed the lid of the soup pot and turned around to face Fu Xijing.
She looked at Fu Xijing with suspicion.
He is acting strange today.
Very abnormal.
In the past, when people asked her to cook, Fu Xijing would never go into the kitchen. She would usually eat the ready-made meal.
Therefore, Song Yi always assumed that Fu Xijing could not cook and did not like to go into the kitchen.
"What's wrong? Is there something on your face?" Seeing that she was staring at him, Fu Xijing raised his hand and touched his face.
Song Yi shook his head. "There's nothing to do. I'll cook some vegetables once the rice is cooked."
Fu Xijing said "hmm" and turned away.
When Song Yi thought he was going back to the living room, he sat down at the dining table.
"I'm thirsty. Pour me a glass of water." Fu Xijing instructed Song Yi naturally.
Song Yi said "Oh" and poured him a glass of water from the water purifier.
The rice would not be ready for more than half an hour, so Song Yi simply sat down and picked up his phone.
Fu Xijing took two sips of water, turned his gaze to Song Yi, and asked abruptly, "How is your mother's health recently?"
Song Yi raised his head, put down his phone, and replied casually: "Very good."
Fu Xijing: "Are you going back to see her?"
Song Yi: "Well, I'll go back when I don't have classes."
Fu Xijing: "Where is Jiang Yuxu?"
Song Yi: “......?” She didn’t react. Why did Fu Xijing suddenly turn the topic to Jiang Yuxu?
Fu Xijing: "Jiang Yuxu doesn't go to see your mother? Isn't he your future son-in-law?"
He said the words "future son-in-law" in a sarcastic tone.
"He will go with me too." Song Yi replied calmly.
Fu Xijing: "Why didn't you tell Jiang Yuxu about the contract?"
He curled his lips and raised his chin towards her, "Why don't you let him come forward and solve it for you?"
Song Yi laughed mockingly, "Some things only happen once."
"You mean the necklace?" Fu Xijing's eyes darkened, staring at her intently, "Is that necklace important to you?"
Song Yi didn't answer but asked, "If I say it's important, you won't give it back to me, right?"
Fu Xijing smiled: "You know me so well?"
Song Yi sneered.
She had been tortured and threatened by him several times. If she still couldn't figure out his tricks, she would be really stupid.
Fu Xijing didn't mind her sneer, and asked her with interest: "If it's so important, why did you leave it behind?"
Song Yi: "I didn't know it was important at the time."
Fu Xijing: "Then why did you stop wanting it after you found out?"
He knocked on the table and squinted at her. "You even went so far as to tell Jiang Yuxu to ask for it for you. This shows that this necklace means a lot to you. Who left this token for you?"
Song Yi's heart tightened and suddenly rose to his throat.
How could she forget that Fu Xijing's insight was on par with Jiang Yuxu's.
He just had no interest in exploring her affairs before, but once he really focused his attention on her, many things would escape his insight.
"You're very nervous." Fu Xijing pressed on. "You don't want me to know? Or do you not want to mention the person who gave you the token?"
"Mr. Fu." Song Yi took a deep breath and looked at him calmly: "This is my privacy."
Oh.
It's this sentence again.
Every time this topic was brought up, Song Yi would use this excuse to shirk responsibility.
She kept a clear distance between herself and him and was unwilling to talk about her privacy with him, but she could tell Jiang Yuxu everything - even though she knew that this might be due to the natural closeness brought about by the so-called blood relationship, it still could not offset his resentment.
Song Yi didn't trust him, never.
"Let's make a deal." After pondering for a moment, Fu Xijing took the initiative to make this request.
Song Yi frowned, "What?"
"Tell me the truth about why you're looking for this necklace," Fu Xijing said, moving closer to her, looking her straight in the eye and throwing out bait: "If you're sincere, I might consider returning the necklace to you."
There was a flash of light in Song Yi's eyes, and then it quickly dimmed.
This was not the first or second time that Fu Xijing had gone back on his word, and she no longer trusted him.
"Don't you believe me?" Fu Xijing understood her thoughts from the change in her eyes.
Song Yi was silent for a few minutes. After a struggle between his conscience and his conscience, he said softly, "That's my mother's."
Fu Xijing: "Hmm?"
Song Yi: "That man left it for her."
"Which man?" Fu Xijing asked, "Your father?"
Song Yi nodded.
She still feels uncomfortable when she hears this name now.
Her evasive attitude was so obvious, how could Fu Xijing not hear it?
"You are very disgusted with him." Fu Xijing used a declarative sentence.
Song Yi pursed his lips into a line, neither nodding nor shaking his head.
Fu Xijing didn't pester her with this question, and changed the subject: "Didn't you know before that the necklace was something he left for your mother?"
"Yeah." Song Yi said in a low voice.
Fu Xijing: "Your mother never talked to you about him?"
"No." Song Yi shook his head, "We just talked about it a while ago."
