Why are you here?

Why are you here?

Mu Han felt increasingly uncomfortable being stared at. He subconsciously took a half step back, frantically pulling the ring out of his pocket and quickly slipping it back onto his ring finger. The cool metal against his skin calmed him down a bit.

Lu Zhizhi looked at the ring that was firmly on his hand, a smile instantly spread across his eyes, and even his eyebrows softened a little: "This is right."

Ji Lu was watching in a daze from the side, his hands clenched into fists, and he was so happy in his heart - his brother and sister-in-law were indeed in the same group, and they had a very good relationship!

Just as Lu Zhizhi was about to hold Mu Han's hand again, he heard a quarrel outside the door, and his assistant's anxious voice was in the middle: "Mr. Bai, you can't go in! Mr. Lu is busy!"

Before he could finish his words, the office door was flung open. Bai Zihan stood at the doorway, his face filled with undisguised anger. His assistant followed behind him, explaining with a pale face, "Boss Lu, I can't stop him..."

"You go out first." Lu Zhizhi's tone instantly turned cold, and the warmth in his eyes disappeared completely.

The assistant felt as if he had been pardoned and quickly retreated, closing the door behind him.

Lu Zhizhi turned to look at Bai Zihan, his eyes cold and distant, as if he was looking at an insignificant stranger: "What are you doing here?"

Bai Zihan stared at their clasped hands, especially the dazzling ring on Mu Han's hand. Jealousy and anger nearly overflowed from his eyes. He gritted his teeth and asked, "Is the news true? Don't you like me? How could you marry him?"

"Who I marry is my business." Lu Zhizhi's voice was calm. "Also, I've never liked you."

Mu Han quietly withdrew her hand while he was talking. Lu Zhizhi's palm felt empty, and his heart felt empty too, as if something was missing.

Mu Han glanced at Bai Zihan, his tone filled with disdain: "It seems that you have private matters to discuss, so I won't disturb you."

After saying that, he turned around and was about to leave. Seeing this, Ji Lu immediately slid down from the sofa, hugged Mu Han's thighs, raised his little face and said aggrievedly: "Sister-in-law, I'll go with you! I don't want to be here!"

Mu Han looked down at the little guy in his arms, then looked at Bai Zihan, whose face was grim, and nodded: "I'll take Xiao Lu to my studio for a while."

"Okay." Lu Zhizhi didn't stop him, but added, "I'll come find you as soon as I finish dealing with things here."

Mu Han didn't respond. He held Ji Lu in his arms and strode out. The wind created by his footsteps seemed a bit hasty.

Only Lu Zhizhi and Bai Zihan were left in the office, and the air froze instantly.

Bai Zihan looked at his cold profile, her eyes suddenly reddened, and she asked in a tearful voice, "Didn't you promise my father that you would marry me? How could you go back on your word!"

"I never agreed." Lu Zhizhi turned around, the impatience in his tone almost overflowing, "I have always treated you as my younger brother, in the past, now, and in the future. There will never be a possibility between us."

"Why?" Bai Zihan's voice trembled, tears streaming down his cheeks, "How am I inferior to him?"

"You are not as good as him in every way." Lu Zhizhi was too lazy to argue with him anymore and ordered him to leave. "I ask you not to bother me again in the future. Now, get out immediately."

Bai Zihan looked at his stubborn attitude and suddenly sneered, a cruel look flashing in his eyes: "Lu Zhizhi, you will regret this."

After saying that, he turned around and slammed the door, leaving the room filled with cold air.

Lu Zhizhi looked at the closed door, his brows furrowed even tighter, but he didn't take it to heart - all his thoughts now were on Mu Han.

On the other side, Mu Han carried Ji Lu back to the studio. Luo Wanghan was lying on the table watching videos. He heard the noise and looked up. He saw that Mu Han was holding a delicate little guy in his arms. His eyes lit up and he ran over immediately.

"Wow, whose little baby is this? He's so cute!" Luo Wanghan couldn't help but reach out and pinch Ji Lu's face, which felt soft.

Ji Lu shrank his neck when she pinched him, hid in Mu Han's arms, and complained in a low voice: "Sister-in-law, who is this aunt? She is so fierce."

When Mu Han heard the word "Auntie", he couldn't help laughing out loud.

Luo Wanghan glared at Ji Lu angrily: "How can you talk like that, little brat! Who is the aunt? I am obviously the elder sister!" She turned to look at Mu Han, "Brother Han, where did you pick this up from? I'll spank him!"

Ji Lu was so scared that he burrowed deeper behind Mu Han and said aggrievedly, "Sister-in-law, she bullied me..."

"Alright, alright, stop messing around." Mu Han rubbed his brow helplessly and introduced, "This is Ji Lu, Ji Xingyuan's son and Lu Zhizhi's younger brother."

Luo Wanghan suddenly realized and nodded: "Oh - it turned out to be the young master of the Lu family." She winked at Ji Lu, "I was wrong just now, I apologize to you."

Ji Lu secretly poked his head out from behind Mu Han, looked at her, and whispered, "I'm sorry, sister."

"Hey, that's right." Luo Wanghan immediately smiled, "Come on, sister will get you some candy!"

At noon, Lu Zhizhi finished his work and went straight to Mu Han's studio. As soon as he walked to the door, he saw a bustling scene inside - Mu Han was sitting on the sofa, Ji Lu was lying on his lap, and Luo Wanghan was reading a story to the two of them with a picture book. The sunlight shone through the window on them, making them feel warm and cozy.

He walked over with light steps. Luo Wanghan was the first to see him. He quickly nudged Mu Han and whispered, "Brother Han, he's here."

Mu Han and Ji Lu looked up at the same time. Ji Lu's eyes lit up, and he slid down from the sofa, stumbled over, and opened his arms for a hug: "Brother!"

Lu Zhizhi bent down, picked him up, and kissed his soft face.

Luo Wanghan stood up tactfully: "Well, I suddenly remembered that I have something to do at home, so I'll be leaving first. You guys chat."

"Okay, be careful on the road." Mu Han nodded.

As soon as Luo Wanghan walked out the door, Lu Zhizhi looked at Mu Han and said in a gentle tone: "Are you done with your work? I'll take you to dinner."

"No need, I'm going to the hospital to see my dad later." Mu Han's tone was neither cold nor hot, with a hint of alienation.

"Then I'll go with you, okay?" Lu Zhizhi's voice was filled with a subtle pleading tone, "I'll go check on uncle."

"No need." Mu Han frowned, his tone adding a bit of impatience, "My father is still recovering from his illness, he doesn't want to see outsiders right now."

Ji Lu heard it clearly in Lu Zhizhi's arms. Her little brows frowned suddenly, her eyes turned red, and she said in a crying voice: "Sister-in-law, does uncle not like my brother? Then does he not like Xiao Lu either?" As she spoke, tears fell like beads with broken strings.

Mu Han looked at his red face from crying, and her heart softened immediately. She quickly walked over, took Ji Lu from Lu Zhizhi's arms, and coaxed him softly, "How could that be? Uncle must like you, he just doesn't feel well and doesn't have the energy to see anyone."

"You're lying." Ji Lu sobbed, his arms tightly wrapped around Mu Han's neck. "Then why don't you let me and my brother go with you? Don't you like us anymore?"

The more he spoke, the more aggrieved he felt. His tears fell even harder, and his little shoulders twitched, which made people's hearts ache.

Mu Han was so frustrated by his crying that he had no choice but to surrender: "Okay, okay, stop crying, okay? I'll take you guys with me, is that okay?"

Ji Lu raised his head half-believingly, tears still hanging on his eyelashes: "Really? My sister-in-law didn't lie to me?"

"I didn't lie to you." Mu Han reached out to wipe his tears. His fingertips touched his hot cheek, and his heart softened.

Lu Zhizhi took the opportunity to step forward, opened his arms and embraced the two of them in his arms, his voice so gentle that water could drip out of it: "Okay, don't cry anymore, it won't look good if you cry anymore."

A warm breath enveloped Mu Han, who was trapped in the middle of him. The tip of his nose was filled with the crisp scent of cedar from his body. His head buzzed as if blocked by something. He did not hear a word Lu Zhizhi said afterwards. He only felt his cheeks burning incredibly hot, and even his ears were burning.
