Chapter 25 A Man

"Don't worry, Battalion Commander, I will definitely listen to you. As long as I safely hand you over to the elderly folks, I will go back!"

"You stubborn mule!"

"Commander, don't be angry. Let me help you lie down so you don't reopen your wound."

Helpless, the man could only let the other person help him lie down on the bed.

Jiang Xile then roughly realized the identities of the two men: one was the wounded battalion commander, and the other was a soldier escorting the battalion commander home.

Judging from the battalion commander's appearance, his leg injury must be quite serious.

After the man lay down, Jiang Xile returned to her own bunk.

Even though the wound was very painful, the man, out of his innate sensitivity as a soldier, opened his eyes and carefully examined Jiang Xile. Only after confirming that she was not dangerous did he close his eyes again.

Jiang Xile didn't care about the other person's scrutiny. She was familiar with this kind of gaze. When the apocalypse first arrived, almost everyone was in this state, always on guard.

However, this soldier named Zhuzi was very enthusiastic when he saw Jiang Xile.

"Hello comrade, my name is Liu Haizhu, everyone calls me Zhuzi. This is our battalion commander, Xiao Chengyi. If anything happens on the road, let's look out for each other!"

"Hello, Comrade Liu Haizhu. I am Jiang Xile, a sent-down youth."

"So you're a sent-down youth! No wonder you're so pretty and refined. You're a sent-down youth. Where are you going to be a sent-down youth?"

"I'll get off at Sweet City."

Jiang Xile replied with a smile. She could tell that the other person meant no harm; he was just a very simple and enthusiastic young man.

"They're going to Sweet City! Our battalion commander is from Sweet City too, what a coincidence!"

"Really? What a coincidence!"

"That's right, I didn't expect..."

Before Liu Haizhu could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a cough.

"Cough cough...cough cough...cough cough..."

Xiao Chengyi, who was lying down, had a face that was completely red from holding his breath, and he couldn't stop coughing.

"Battalion Commander, why are you coughing so badly? Do you want some water? Battalion Commander, are you alright? Is the pain from your wound affecting your health?"

Xiao Chengyi didn't say a word, but Liu Haizhu had already rattled off a whole bunch of things.

Jiang Xile couldn't help but shake her head. Why did everyone she met seem to be such a chatterbox?
