Zhang Rujing vehemently denied ever helping to connect with Texas Instruments, but the other party didn't care. In their view, he was the only one who could do it.
Mr. Cai couldn't handle the matter by himself, so he had to call Mr. Liang, who hadn't left yet. It was already 9 p.m., and the office was brightly lit. Mr. Liang looked very unhappy; his holiday had been disturbed.
"How could that be?" General Manager Liang said with some disbelief, "Zhang Rujing said it wasn't him who helped? Texas Instruments has so many orders, how could it possibly be his turn?"
"The chairman also found it unbelievable and called his friends at Texas Instruments to inquire. They said they hadn't contacted any companies in Thailand, so I now suspect he's trying to scam us." General Manager Cai sat there pondering. "However, the reports are indeed genuine, and they were faxed from the United States."
“Then they might be trying to trick us. I think we shouldn’t rush things and should wait and see.” President Liang remained calm.
"The problem is, there's a Nokia logo on it. I suspect there's something we don't know about. If we don't take the initiative now, we might really lose this deal," said General Manager Cai, lighting a cigarette. "This deal is very important to us."
If it weren't for their first order, the two of them wouldn't have had to go through all this trouble. They simply couldn't get any orders from major overseas manufacturers. In addition, the mobile phone industry has high barriers to entry, and ordinary people really can't handle it. There are quite a few companies that have mastered core technologies but ended up going bankrupt.
Both of them sensed that Kuntai was bluffing them. The main reason for this conclusion was that Zhang Zhongmou was too familiar with Texas Instruments. He had worked there for thirty years and knew everyone from top to bottom. If they said no, then it was very likely that no.
Of course, it's possible that Kuntai is working with Nokia, using Nokia's orders and subletting them, which is why they can't find out about it.
After discussing it, the two decided to have a serious talk with Kuntai, as they could not afford to lose such a large order.
Mr. Cai called but no one answered. He called several more times. As soon as Lu Feng answered the phone and heard it was Mr. Cai, he hung up immediately.
"I think you should make the call. I'm completely ruined with them now." General Manager Cai spread his hands and said, "We need you, the good guy, to step in."
“I’ll call him on my phone!” Mr. Liang said, taking out his phone and dialing the number for Lu Feng Hotel.
Inside the hotel room, the landline on the table rang again. Lu Feng glanced at the two people opposite him and said, "You two don't say anything. This time it might be that General Manager Liang."
After giving his instructions, Lu Feng pressed the speakerphone button and asked, "Who is this?"
"Mr. Kuntai, it's me, President Liang. I'm really grateful to you. I just received a call telling me to come back to work. No matter what, you're a true brother to me. Thank you." On the other end of the phone, President Liang pretended to be clueless, completely ignoring the fact that Lu Feng's negotiations with them had fallen through, and assumed that he was going back to work because Lu Feng had put in a good word for him.
Upon hearing this, Zhu Lidong leaned back on the sofa and scoffed inwardly, "These are all masters of feigning ignorance!"
"You're back? That's good. Didn't they tell you? It wasn't because of you. They unilaterally breached the contract and demanded a higher price. I couldn't continue negotiating. I've already contacted Nokia, and our talks are going very well." Lu Feng no longer tried to hide anything.
“Brother, these people are really incompetent. Now they’ve messed things up and I have to come back to clean up their mess. Anyway, I still think we should meet again. I’ll come to your hotel in half an hour and we can talk in person.” President Liang didn’t care whether Lu Feng agreed or not and just settled the matter.
The call ended, and Lu Feng looked up at Zhu Lidong and the other man, saying, "Now it's their turn to worry. The initiative is back in our hands. Give me the second document. What time is it in the US now?"
After thinking for a moment, Liu Cheng said, "Eight o'clock tonight."
"He probably isn't asleep." Lu Feng muttered to himself as he called Zhang Fengxia. After she answered, he asked her to call his cell phone in a moment and pretend to be the person in charge of Texas Instruments speaking to him.
With everything ready, in less than ten minutes, General Manager Liang rushed over. When he saw Lu Feng again, his face was full of smiles. He stepped forward, shook Lu Feng's hands with both of his, and apologized repeatedly: "I'm really sorry, the company's management is in a really difficult situation right now. I hope you can understand, brother."
"Let's talk in the reception room." Lu Feng stood up, picked up the folder prepared on the table, and walked outside.
Along the way, President Liang explained to Lu Feng what had happened inside the company. Lu Feng was also a liar who would lie without batting an eye, and he casually made up a story about office infighting. Now that things had gone wrong, President Cai was probably going to be fired.
"Which of you gets fired is none of my business. I just want to sign a contract, which is very important to the outside world." After Lu Feng finished speaking, he went into the reception room, sat down and said, "We are practically friends, so I'll get straight to the point. Here is Texas Instruments' price list, which clearly states the product delivery standards and arrival dates."
As Lu Feng spoke, he placed the folder directly in front of him.
General Manager Liang was surprised by Lu Feng's quick response. He picked it up and examined it carefully. It was indeed a quotation from Texas Instruments, but it wasn't for Nandi Company; the delivery party was Nokia.
"This is a tentative order for Nokia?" General Manager Liang looked up at Lu Feng and asked tentatively, "Did Zhang Rujing help you make the contact?"
“No, if he could get me this price, I wouldn’t be here. My dad got in touch with Nokia through connections, and they can sell their orders to us.” Lu Feng smiled and said, “As you know, Nokia has a partnership with Texas Instruments. Their costs are lower, so they make a profit just by reselling.”
