The elevator doors slowly closed, shutting out the noise from the ward.
Li Chenglin took a deep breath, his worry undiminished.
He turned to look at Li Yulin, his voice low: "Yulin, this is too strange."
Li Yulin's face was equally gloomy, his lips tightly pressed together, and he remained silent.
Li Chenglin raised his hand to rub his temples and said wearily, "Su Su's current state is indeed not the right time for them to acknowledge each other."
His gaze fell on the ever-decreasing floor numbers, and he felt a mix of emotions.
Everything that had been planned was disrupted by this sudden car accident.
"What does Big Brother mean?" Li Yulin looked at Li Chenglin, waiting for him to continue.
Li Chenglin sighed, his tone heavy: "The best course of action now is to wait for Chen Ke to wake up."
He paused, then continued, "Su Su's mind is completely focused on Chen Ke right now. The surgery can only be performed once she has no more worries about him."
He knew the risks of the surgery, and he knew even more how important Susu was to them.
He didn't want to take any risks while Su Su was in a poor mental state.
Li Yulin nodded, indicating his understanding: "I understand."
The strong smell of disinfectant filled Chen Ke's nostrils. He slowly opened his eyes, his vision blurred, as if everything in front of him was veiled.
He subconsciously moved his fingers, and a sharp pain came from his fingertips.
"Chen Ke? You're awake?"
Li Susu's surprised voice rang in my ears.
He blinked, his vision gradually clearing, and he saw Li Susu lying by the bedside. Her eyes were slightly red, and the worry and concern in them were so genuine.
“Arno…” he said weakly, his voice so hoarse it was almost inaudible.
Li Susu quickly grasped his hand, her eyes filled with even greater worry: "How are you feeling? Is there anything else that's bothering you?"
Chen Ke forced a bitter smile and shook his head: "I'm fine, I won't die."
His gaze fell on Li Susu's hand, which was tightly holding his, and he felt the warmth of her palm, a warm current welling up in his heart.
"What...what exactly happened?" Li Susu's voice trembled slightly, her eyes filled with doubt and unease.
Chen Ke's eyes flickered, avoiding Li Susu's gaze, and he said with a wry smile, "Never mind, Arno, don't ask anymore."
His hesitant manner only made Li Susu more suspicious. Could it really be Fu Xingzhou who did it?
"Chen Ke, tell me, is it Fu Xingzhou...?"
She didn't finish speaking, but the suspicion in her eyes was already obvious.
Chen Ke took a breath, a hint of pain flashing in his eyes: "Su Su, I don't want you to get hurt. I just want to leave here with you and go back to Z country..."
His voice grew softer and softer, carrying a hint of pleading.
Li Susu looked at him and her heart softened.
She knew that Chen Ke had always wanted to return to Z country, and she also knew that he had suffered a lot here.
"Okay, I promise you. Once you're better, we'll go back to Z country."
As soon as Li Susu finished speaking, a series of steady footsteps came from the door of the ward.
Fu Xingzhou appeared at the door, a hint of weariness in his eyes, his deep gaze fixed on Li Susu.
When Li Susu saw him, her originally gentle gaze instantly turned sharp.
She stood up abruptly, her voice icy: "What are you doing here?"
Fu Xingzhou's heart tightened. He sensed the hostility in Li Susu's tone but didn't understand what had happened.
He approached the hospital bed and looked at Chen Ke with concern: "Mr. Chen, how are you feeling?"
Chen Ke smiled weakly, said nothing, and only glanced at Li Susu with a complicated expression.
That one glance solidified Li Susu's doubts.
She took a deep breath, looked directly into Fu Xingzhou's eyes, and questioned him, word by word: "Fu Xingzhou, did you do all this?"
Fu Xingzhou was stunned; he didn't understand Li Susu's meaning at all.
"What are you talking about?" He frowned, his tone tinged with doubt.
Li Susu sneered: "Stop pretending. In China, besides you, Fu Xingzhou, who else can hurt Chen Ke?"
Fu Xingzhou felt as if an invisible hand was squeezing his heart tightly, and he felt a suffocating pain.
He never expected that Li Susu would suspect him.
"Arno, let me explain..."
Li Susu interrupted him, her tone sharp: "Explain? What's there to explain? To get back your former lover, you actually poisoned Chen Ke. You're truly ruthless!"
Fu Xingzhou felt as if his heart was being torn apart. He wanted to explain, but found that any words seemed pale and powerless.
He looked at Li Susu, his eyes filled with hurt and helplessness.
"Arno, do you really think I would do something like that?"
Li Susu turned her head away, refusing to look at him, and said resolutely, "The game is over, Fu Xingzhou."
She paused, then continued, "Once Chen Ke is discharged from the hospital, I will return to China and never come back."
