Chapter 113 Madness and Chaos
The ghost had its back to Rong Yi. It looked around but didn't turn around. It floated to the other side and smashed the transparent glass display case.
After doing all that, it floated quietly in the air.
If an ordinary person were hiding here, they would probably be praying that the ghost would leave quickly.
After all, the cabinet's hiding time is limited.
As for what would happen after the evasion time was over, Rong Yi didn't know, but he was very curious.
The atmosphere was like water in a kettle, about to boil and churn.
The ghost remained still for about a minute before it moved, slowly turning around to let Rong Yi see its face.
His facial features appeared to have been smashed by a heavy object; his eyes, nose, and mouth were indistinct, and his slightly long hair was stuck to the rotten flesh on his cheeks. His chest was caved in.
The ravaged face was getting closer and closer to the closet where she was hiding. The space inside the closet was too small to turn around, and a coward probably wouldn't even dare to turn his head.
Rong Yi watched it drift over quietly until its rotten face was pressed against the cabinet door, making one wonder if its rotten flesh would squeeze into the cabinet the next second.
I see you—
The eerie ghostly voice deliberately dragged out the last syllable. Rong Yi could imagine that if it were an ordinary person hiding instead of her, they would probably scream in fright.
She took out her gloves, rubbed her elbows against the cabinet wall, and put them on.
Clearly, the ghost outside heard the subtle noises inside the cabinet. "I heard it—" it drawled out the last syllable, which, combined with the flashing lights, heightened the atmosphere of terror to the extreme.
Five minutes are almost up. The cabinet may be a place to hide people, but it's a way to deliberately torture the living with a reprieve.
Rong Yi interlaced his fingers to make the gloves fit his fingers better.
After doing all that, she raised her knees and kicked the cabinet door open.
The ghost outside didn't expect her to dare to do this, nor did it know Rong Yi's abilities. Suddenly, the cabinet door smashed into its face.
The cabinet door was ruined by that knee kick; it was barely hanging on the cabinet, on the verge of falling off.
The scary ghost saw a girl standing in the closet, wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and flat ankle boots, with her hair tied in a high ponytail, and she was wearing a pair of brown gloves.
She stepped out of the closet and walked towards it step by step.
The rotten-faced ghost took her as a dying struggle, wanting a quick death, and floated up, its toes touching the ground as it flew straight towards her.
As the distance closed, Rong Yi lifted his long leg and kicked the ghost's rotten face with the sole of his shoe.
When it touched Rong Yi, the rotten-faced ghost took on a physical form and was kicked to the ground. Its already mangled face was dented and bore a shoe print.
The ghost was confused and didn't understand what was going on.
It touched its face, feeling the change in its skin. Was that... pain?
Rong Yi didn't give it time to react, and stepped forward to grab its neck. "Got you—" he said, mimicking the tone of the rotten-faced ghost.
In disbelief, Rong Yi grabbed the grotesque-faced creature by the neck and slammed it to the ground repeatedly. "Do you know how difficult it was to renovate this room? And you just... smashed it all up!"
With each strike, he squeezed out four words from his throat.
"Still outside! Deliberately trying to scare people! You have no morals! People are avoiding you! Get out of my way!"
With a series of smashes, the man with the rotten face was turned into a man with a rotten head.
Finally, grabbing the man with the rotten face by the neck, Rong Yi said, "Be more careful in your next life, don't be so wicked." He paused for a moment, then added, "Forget it, someone like you won't have a next life."
As he spoke, he took out a pistol with his left hand and fired a shot at the rotten-faced ghost's forehead.
As expected, the ghost that came out to scare people was a first-level ghost. After collecting the ghost crystal, Rong Yi turned around to look at the cabinet where he had been hiding. The old cabinet was gone, replaced by a transparent cabinet filled with the homeowner's scarves.

Shi Yulian ran through several rooms before finding a cabinet. She pressed herself tightly against the cabinet door, guarding it.
Upon hearing the ghost's noise, he immediately hid in the closet.
As soon as she closed the cabinet door, a long-haired ghost floated to the front of the cabinet.
Shi Yulian's breath caught in her throat, her eyes widened, and tears quickly welled up and soaked her eyes.
She dared not make a sound, and with a very slight movement, she raised her hand to cover her mouth.
The long-haired ghost's hair obscured its face and the back of its head, making it impossible for her to tell whether the side facing her was its face or the back of its head.
When Shi Yulian came in, she saw the words on the inside of the cabinet door. She was lucky; she could hide in this cabinet for ten minutes.
After glancing at the time on her luminous watch, Shi Yulian tightly closed her eyes, afraid that she would lose control if she continued to look at the ghost.
Time passed quietly, and she kept praying in her heart. When she opened her eyes again, the long-haired ghost in front of the cabinet door had disappeared.
When she arrived here, she realized how strange her previous behavior had been. How could she have worshipped ghosts and almost killed her child as a sacrifice to them? Fortunately, the authorities had introduced a new policy that prohibited even parents from killing their underage children.
She frantically volunteered to participate in the Ghost Lord of Hedong's hide-and-seek game. What was she thinking at the time? To offer her insignificant flesh and blood to the Ghost Lord.
It wasn't until they arrived at a strange place that Shi Yulian and the others regained all their rationality and cognition.
Everyone was on the verge of collapse, wondering why things had turned out that way before.
"I'll probably die here today," Shi Yulian thought in despair.
Mustering her courage, Shi Yulian opened her eyes. The long-haired ghost was still standing in front of the cabinet door, making no sound. Her face was covered in tears.
At this moment, she forgot her fear of facing the ghost and was filled with guilt for her children. She had almost killed them. If she died here, what would happen to her two children? Her husband had already died in a voluntary sacrifice. Would her children be offered to the ghost king because they had no guardian?
Nine minutes passed quickly. In another fifty seconds, she had to get out of the closet. Otherwise, she would die if she didn't, but if she did, she might have a chance to escape.
Every second was agonizing. When the countdown reached five seconds, Shi Yulian reached out with trembling hands to touch the cabinet door, trying to calm herself down.
Perhaps knowing she was about to come out, the long-haired ghost stopped clinging to the cabinet door and instead floated out a space to make room for her.
Shi Yulian was heartbroken, but with reluctance to part with the children, she pushed open the cabinet door.
The expected scenario of being torn apart by the long-haired ghost did not occur. The long-haired ghost floated quietly in front of her. Shi Yulian was a little confused for a moment, but her legs instinctively wanted to run away, yet she was afraid that the act of running away would anger the ghost.
After a few seconds of standoff, Shi Yulian finally couldn't hold back any longer and suddenly turned around to run away, only to bump into a figure face to face as she turned around.
The person was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and casual pants. He had an ordinary appearance and would not stand out in a crowd, but he had an extraordinary demeanor as he walked.
He was the man among the last two people to enter.
Upon seeing Shi Yulian, a smile played on his lips. "Hello, I'm really curious, could you tell me about the rules here?"
Still shaken, Shi Yulian glanced back at the long-haired ghost, but it remained motionless, as if it were a fake ghost.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it,” the man said gently.
Immediately afterward, the long-haired ghost shattered in front of Shi Yulian, and the smoke from the shattered pieces drifted toward the man, causing Shi Yulian to take a few steps back in shock.
"Where is the Ghost King of Hedong that you speak of?" the man asked her.
Shi Yulian snapped out of her reverie and nodded slowly, "It usually appears at the very end."
How did she know? Because the dodgeball game was being streamed live.
