Gu Li's eyes widened slightly as she watched the TV being turned off. "So early?"
Jiang Xu watched the TV screen go completely black and nodded firmly, "It's getting late, but you said you'd get up early. Are you going to go back on your word?"
Gu Li seemed to suddenly remember something, chuckled softly twice, and then looked up, "Right, get up early, go to sleep now!"
After he finished speaking, he stood up and reached out to pull Jiang Xu up as well. "Wait for me to wake you up. Congratulations on saving the alarm clock. Don't you feel like you've hit the jackpot?"
Jiang Xu got up with the help of the force, and Gu Li pushed him towards the room, saying, "You really make a profit, you're so thrifty."
The two stopped in front of the door. Gu Li put his arm around Jiang Xu first and whispered in his ear, "That's natural," his tone was slightly proud, then lowered, "Good night, Jiang Xu."
Jiang Xu felt as if he heard a soft sigh. He adjusted his angle to look at Gu Li's face and found that the person's emotions seemed more like a relieved relaxation. He felt a little relieved and said, "Good night, see you tomorrow." He thought for a moment and said, "Brother Li, see you tomorrow."
Jiang Xu repeated himself, as if confirming his own words.
Only now did Gu Li catch a glimpse of Jiang Xu's hidden unease. A sudden pang of tenderness shot through his heart, as if someone had gently tapped him with a small hammer—not painful, but with a distinct, throbbing sensation. He couldn't help but tighten his grip on Jiang Xu's arm. "See you tomorrow," he said, his voice hoarse.
Jiang Xu responded to Gu Li's pull and hugged her tightly. He felt the warmth of her body and clearly realized that she had indeed returned. "Okay."
The wind on a rainy night should be cool and biting, with raindrops drifting down with the wind, bringing a chill. But at this moment, the night is gentle.
A gentle breeze swept by, not warm, but very soft, and the leaves swayed slightly and pleasantly.
Nothing has changed, yet everything has changed.
Gu Li stood by the window, looking out at the view, feeling calm and peaceful. His peace was just a wall away.
There were no stars in the sky, but Gu Li felt as if he could see light, a light hanging far in the sky. He thought it might be the light of dawn, or perhaps the sun rising above the sea tomorrow.
Everything was bright and shiny, making him look radiant. Gu Li desperately hoped that tomorrow would be a sunny and bright day.
As Gu Li lay in bed, the familiar scent filled his nostrils, lingering faintly around him, and he hoped he could fall asleep peacefully.
However, things didn't go as planned. When Gu Li opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling as he turned over again, he wondered how much time had passed. He should be quite sleepy, but why couldn't he fall asleep?
Gu Li sat up and rubbed his hair. He shook his head, trying to banish all the images running through his mind. How could he get up early if he didn't go to bed early? He couldn't break his promise again.
He covered his face and lay back down on the bed. The bed was quite soft, and the blanket was also quite soft, but Gu Li felt that something was missing. It was as if the one he shared with Jiang Xu was more comfortable.
Gu Li pulled the blanket over her head and told herself again, "Stop thinking about it, it's really time to sleep."
"Click." The sound was very faint in the darkness. Gu Li paused, and he even thought he was hallucinating. He waited silently.
When the faint sound of footsteps was heard, Gu Li knew that someone had really come. The corners of his mouth turned up in the darkness of the blankets, and he suppressed his laughter well.
Just as she felt a slight sinking in the bedside, and someone sat down, Gu Li suddenly threw off her blanket and lunged at the blurry black figure in the darkness.
Jiang Xu was taken aback by the sudden movement and subconsciously tried to catch the dark figure that pounced on him, but in the darkness, the two did not quite match up and only a chaotic collision occurred.
Warmth mingled with warmth, and Gu Li's laughter rang out, "Tell me, what were you planning to do sneaking here?" His fingertip poked Jiang Xu's waist.
Jiang Xu felt a little itchy and flinched. "I was just worried someone would kick off the blanket and catch a cold, so I covered him up. He doesn't appreciate my kindness."
Gu Li's tone was skeptical, "Hmm? Really? I have a feeling someone has ill intentions."
Jiang Xu backed away, sighing helplessly, "Fine, I'm leaving..." Before he could finish speaking, someone grabbed his hand.
Gu Li mentally said 'yes' to herself for her accurate judgment. "Who would run away after being offered something for free? I have to interrogate them properly, because it concerns my personal safety."
Jiang Xu stopped abruptly when pulled, "How are we going to interrogate them?"
“Of course,” Gu Li said, pulling Jiang Xu down onto her bed with a sudden movement, her hand restlessly around Jiang Xu’s waist. “So, this is how you interrogate him?”
He started working on it as soon as he finished speaking.
"Hahaha, stop..." Jiang Xu's movements became much more evasive, and Gu Li's hands frantically roamed around his waist.
Gu Li dodged Jiang Xu's attempt to grab her hand, saying, "That's not up to you." His tone was full of laughter, and he suddenly grabbed her hand even faster.
Jiang Xu felt someone tickling his waist, but he couldn't exert any force. He had no choice but to grab the person's hand again. He thought he would fail again, but this time he caught it. The troublesome hand struggled symbolically for a moment and then stopped moving. "Is the interrogation over?" His tone was still smiling.
Gu Li lay down next to Jiang Xu, "Considering this is your first offense, I'll be lenient with you."
Jiang Xu: "Okay."
Gu Li spoke again, "The suggestion here is to commit the offense more often, mainly because there are some old sayings that support this, don't you think?"
Jiang Xu wanted to see what Gu Li was going to bring up this time, so he asked with some confusion, "What old saying?"
Gu Li answered quickly, "The more the merrier! Want me to teach you some idioms?"
Jiang Xu smiled and said, "That won't be necessary. I understand the meaning of the word."
Gu Li abruptly pulled the blanket over them, covering them both, and asked in a low voice, "Are you sure you know?"
Jiang Xu grabbed Gu Li's hand in the darkness, and along with the movement, he said in a low voice, "Of course I'm sure."
Gu Li adjusted to a comfortable position and, leaning against Jiang Xu, spoke again, "Seriously, weren't you asleep? Why did you come over again?"
Jiang Xu: "I guess I couldn't sleep because I was missing something, so I came to look for it."
Gu Li, "Did you find it?"
Jiang Xu rubbed his hand that was clasped in his. "I'm holding it right now."
His tone was very natural. Gu Li was taken aback at first, but then he realized what he meant and felt a sweet warmth in his heart. He buried his face in the pillow and said in a muffled laugh, "You really know how to do it."
Jiang Xu replied with a smile, "I learned it from you."
The night wasn't long; the two chatted and time passed quickly. When the room returned to silence, a faint white light appeared on the horizon.
It's destined not to be a day where I can get up early.
