Chapter 293 Treating Wounded Comrades

At night, a short, urgent knocking sound woke An Moxue. The knocking was outside the bedroom door. She took out a silent pistol, loaded it, and asked, "Who is it?" before quickly running to the door.

"Mo Xue, it's me, Wu Sicheng." There was anxiety in her voice.

An Moxue asked, "Wu Sicheng?"

"yes."

An Moxue listened carefully again and found that there was only one person's breathing frequency outside, but she couldn't be sure if it was really him. What if someone was imitating his voice?

"Go back to the end of the corridor, turn on the light, and stand still." An Moxue listened carefully to the sounds in the corridor outside the door. She heard the sound of footsteps retreating quickly, the sound of the light being turned on, the sound of the footsteps stopping, and then the voice outside saying, "Moxue, I'm ready."

An Moxue cautiously opened the door and saw Wu Sicheng standing in the corridor. She calmly put away her pistol, walked towards him, and asked, "What brings you here at this hour?"

"Mo Xue, one of our comrades has a wound infection and a persistent high fever. He's already unconscious. Do you have any good medicine? We're afraid to go to the hospital right now." Wu Sicheng looked at An Mo Xue, his eyes full of expectation.

"How many days has the wound been there? How many days has the fever lasted?" An Moxue asked. She knew the situation must be very urgent, otherwise Wu Sicheng wouldn't have come to find her at this time.

"He's been injured for six days, had a fever for four days, and is currently in a coma."

An Moxue thought for a moment and said, "Wait for me."

Without waiting for Wu Sicheng's reply, she went into the bedroom and closed the door.

A moment later, a blonde, blue-eyed beauty emerged, carrying a first-aid kit. Wu Sicheng asked uncertainly, "Mo Xue?"

"Okay." An Moxue, carrying the first-aid kit, said, "Let's go! Is it far?"

As they walked out, they said, "It's not far from where I live. If you feel uncomfortable if I ride too fast, just let me know."

"Okay, it's fine. Just ride as fast as you can."

Once outside the gate, Wu Sicheng started the motorcycle, and An Moxue got on. The motorcycle shot off like an arrow, its sound particularly jarring in the silent night.

Wu Sicheng was tense all over. An Moxue thought he was worried about his companion, so she leaned close to his ear and comforted him, "Don't worry, you'll be fine after taking the medicine."

Wu Sicheng responded softly, "Mm." Actually, he wasn't just worried about his companions, but also about An Moxue's arm around his waist. He had never been so close to a girl before, so how could he not be tense?

But I can't say this to An Moxue.

The roar of the engine was even more jarring in the quiet night. Wu Sicheng felt that time was dragging on and on. Why hadn't they arrived yet? When he came out, his companion was already unconscious, his whole body burning red with fever. He wondered how he was now. He hoped his companion would hold on!

Finally, after turning onto another street, the motorcycle stopped.

Wu Sicheng said, "Mo Xue, come with me, we haven't arrived yet."

After saying that, he quickly ran forward, with An Moxue following closely behind. After running for a few minutes, they arrived at a very small detached house. Wu Sicheng opened the door and went in, with An Moxue following closely behind.

Upon entering the room, An Moxue saw a man lying unconscious in the cramped space. He was even more burly than Wu Sicheng and was now lying on the bed. Seeing this, An Moxue felt inexplicably uncomfortable, with a sour and heavy feeling in her heart.

She stepped forward with her medical kit and first placed a thermometer under the armpit of the unconscious man.

At this point, Wu Sicheng said, "He was wounded in the abdomen. The bullet has been removed, but he still has a fever."

"Did you take it?" An Moxue asked, opening the wound to examine it while learning about the patient's basic condition from Wu Sicheng.

"Yes, the situation was urgent, so I had to do it myself. There wasn't much blood loss!" Wu Sicheng was extremely annoyed; he should have been more careful then.

"What did you use to remove it?" An Moxue had already removed the gauze, revealing the wound. The wound wasn't large, but it was clear that it was inflamed, with redness and swelling around it, showing signs of rotting.

"A dagger. I didn't have any disinfectant at the time, so I could only heat the dagger over a fire," Wu Sicheng said, looking down at the wound.

An Moxue took out a thermometer, glanced at it, and handed it to Wu Sicheng.

Wu Sicheng took a look and saw that it was 42 degrees Celsius. His heart skipped a beat. What kind of good person could withstand that?

He put the thermometer back in the medicine box and said, "Is there any hope for him? We came out together. His wife was pregnant at the time, and now the baby has been born, but he still doesn't know if it's a boy or a girl! If it weren't for the fact that we both understand Russian, we wouldn't have been chosen for this mission. His wife isn't a particularly strong or independent person. She was very worried when she left. If something happens to her, it won't be easy for either of them to get through it."

An Moxue said, "Go boil some hot water and wipe his whole body to cool him down. Treat the wound first. Since he's already like this, let's try anything! I'll give him a fever reducer first."

As An Moxue spoke, she put her arm around the patient's neck and pulled him close to her. Then she took a fever reducer and put it into the patient's mouth. There was water on the table next to them, which had already cooled down. Wu Sicheng poured in some hot water, and An Moxue poured the water into the patient's mouth.

Fortunately, he could still drink water, although some of it spilled out. He did manage to drink some, so Wu Sicheng used a towel to wipe him clean.

What An Moxue didn't say was that I'm also a bit of a novice! Luckily, I learned how to treat external injuries in the space.

An Moxue put the patient down and took out her medical equipment.

She recalled the steps: first, she disinfected all the instruments, then disinfected the wound, and while Wu Sicheng was boiling water, she injected anesthesia around the wound. Then she tried to cut the wound, telling herself as she did so that she was slicing fish.

Gradually, the necrotic tissue around the wound was cleaned away. An Moxue carefully disinfected the wound. Fortunately, the wound wasn't deep, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to handle it. Then she stitched it up, sprinkled some wound medicine on it, and then wrapped it with new gauze.

After doing all that, she was covered in sweat, and then she took his pulse. Then she sat down on the chair next to him.

Only when she relaxed did she realize how tired she was.

Wu Sicheng had already prepared hot water and began to wipe the patient's body.

As he wiped him, he said, "Will his fever go down after all this is done?"

An Moxue sat in the chair, thinking that the packaging of the antibiotics in her space was too advanced to take out. This patient should still be given antibiotics, otherwise it would be difficult for him to get through it!

By this time, her sweat had mostly subsided, and she said to Wu Sicheng, "I'm going out for a bit to get some antibiotics for him to take. I think that will give him a better chance of pulling through."

Is it an IV drip?

"Um."

Wu Sicheng continued what he was doing and said, "I'll go after I'm done wiping, don't leave. Write down a list, and I'll buy what's on the list."

An Moxue asked, "Where are you going to buy it?"

"black market."
