Chapter 251 The city gate tower collapsed

"Where's the spray gunner? Where is the spray gunner? Go stop that guy!"

Su Wan saw Chu Kai killing people on the city wall from the city gate tower and was so anxious that she jumped up and down.

Wei Jingzhuo had already gone down to the other side of the city gate tower to direct his soldiers to resist the Southern Chu army that was climbing the city. Unexpectedly, Chu Kai swept through their territory.

Meng Ruliu said, "Sister-in-law, all the spray gun soldiers are dead."

The Southern Chu army outside the city walls used bows and arrows specifically to shoot at the sprayer soldiers. Chu Kai climbed the city walls and killed many more, leaving very few sprayer soldiers remaining.

Without the pepper spray from the sprinkler soldiers, Chu Kai was unstoppable on the city wall. With a single swing of his halberd, he killed more than a dozen Jin soldiers. The roads on the city wall were narrow, offering nowhere to hide. The Jin army suffered countless casualties, and there were almost no soldiers left standing on this side of the wall.

Su Wan was extremely anxious.

The situation was initially very favorable. The demon army was fighting amongst themselves at the foot of the city wall, and most of them were dead. Just when she thought victory was assured, Chu Kai climbed the city wall and single-handedly swept away almost half of it.

The city walls here are practically undefended now. If Chu Kai isn't eliminated, the Southern Chu army will be able to storm the walls.

Meng Ruliu also sensed the crisis and picked up her double whips, saying, "Sister, I'll go down and deal with Chu Kai."

Su Wan nodded first, then shook her head repeatedly.

"No, no, he's too amazing."

Meng Ruliu said, "If we don't kill him, we won't be able to hold out. Then we won't have any camps left to defend."

“We can make more pepper spray,” Su Wan said. “You saw what happened to the Ghost Army after they were sprayed with pepper spray…”

“Sister, don’t be naive,” Meng Ruliu said. “We’ve used up all the chili peppers. Where are we going to find new ones? Even if the enemy’s ghost army is wiped out, Bai Zhiyi can just have them give her another injection. If we can’t hold Yanxun Pass, we will be wiped out.”

She turned and rushed down the city gate tower.

Chu Kai had just arrived at the foot of the city gate tower, wielding his halberd and wreaking havoc. Without a word, Meng Ruliu flicked her wrist, sending her bronze whip flying towards Chu Kai's face.

Chu Kai was on the verge of losing his mind, only reacting to those who were acting. The copper whip flew over and struck him squarely on the head.

Meng Ruliu thought that if she swung the copper whip with all her might and hit Chu Kai on the head, she would definitely kill him. Unexpectedly, when the copper whip struck, it was like metal clashing; it only made Chu Kai's face tilt back, spitting out a trail of black blood, while the copper whip bounced off and fell to the ground.

Chu Kai twisted his neck, his neck bones cracking. He looked at the astonished Meng Ruliu, roared, and brandished his halberd as he chased after her.

When Meng Ruliu saw that the copper whip seemed to strike his iron head, his face turned pale, and he quickly hid behind a pillar of the city gate tower.

The pillar, serving as the main support for the city gate tower, was made from a single, sturdy, century-old log, so thick that it would take two adults to encircle it. Chu Kai swung his halberd, and with a loud crack, the pillar snapped instantly.

The halberd cleaved the pillar in two, its residual force still lingering, striking Meng Ruliu squarely in the chest. Meng Ruliu groaned, feeling as if she had been hit by a sledgehammer, flying through the air, tumbling twice before crashing to the ground, momentarily unable to rise due to chest tightness and dizziness.

With the support of its pillars gone, the city gate tower collapsed with a loud crash, its entire upper section tilting downwards and raising clouds of dust. Those standing on the tower screamed and slid down to the side closest to the ground.

Su Wan was among them, and she almost got thrown off, but luckily she reacted quickly and grabbed the railing with both hands, hanging on a high place.

Chu Kai was directly below her, groaning, his hair standing on end, his black armor stained with red chili water and human blood, making him look exactly like a demon.

Two military officers, leading several soldiers, charged out from the ruins of the city gate tower, only to be wiped out by Chu Kai with two swift halberd strikes.

Seeing this, Su Wan didn't dare to breathe loudly. She stepped on the protrusion of the railing with her toes and waved her hand repeatedly at Meng Ruliu, who was not far away, signaling her not to move.

Meng Ruliu understood her meaning and lay motionless on the ground.

Chu Kai, panting heavily, looked left and right but saw no one moving. He ignored Meng Ruliu lying on the ground as a corpse, then looked up and came face to face with Su Wan.

When Su Wan saw his face, she almost lost her grip on the railing and fell.

With black blood constantly flowing from Chu Kai's completely black face, eyes, and nostrils, she would believe it if you said he was a monster that had just crawled out of hell.

She dared not meet Chu Kai's gaze again, so she simply closed her eyes, pretending to be a corpse hanging from the railing. She prayed in her heart that Chu Kai wouldn't sweep his halberd and cleave her in two.

With blood streaming from his eyes, Chu Kai couldn't tell whether the person hanging on the railing was alive or dead. He mistook Su Wan for a corpse, took a few steps, and then took out a vial of medicine and stabbed it into his neck.

He tried several times but couldn't get the needle in; it turned out he was holding it upside down. He turned it around and inserted the needle.

Su Wan watched from above with her heart pounding.

If the medicines from this family of divine healers had no side effects, she would call them the strongest stimulant. Meng Ruliu was so strong; her swung copper whip struck Chu Kai's head without even breaking the skin. This was no human; this was an invulnerable god!

Just as Chu Kai finished setting up the gate tower, the pillar on the other side of the gate tower became unstable and collapsed, causing the entire gate tower to crash down.

Meng Ruliu was below when she saw the city gate tower crashing down from the sky. Instinctively, she rolled away to avoid it. Chu Kai saw her move, roared, and chased after her.

Chu Kai had only taken two steps when wooden beams, floorboards, and various pieces of furniture rained down, engulfing him.

Su Wan grabbed the railing and fell to the ground with a thud. Luckily, the falling debris didn't hit her, but she felt like her back had almost broken.

She was still clutching her lower back and groaning when Meng Ruliu ran over across the dusty ruins, picked her up, and ran away.

Su Wan shouted, "Sister Yi, he's been buried under the city gate tower!"
