At the entrance to the backyard rock wall, gold, silver, jewels, and various ornaments were scattered all over the ground, glittering in the moonlight. Several tattered boxes lay strewn about on the ground.
Su Wan had no interest in the valuables. Holding a flashlight, she entered the passageway, passed through the ruins of the bubbling disinfection room, and arrived at the door of the treatment room.
The red light in the examination room was still flashing, and the two metal doors were bent outwards, the ones Jiang Yan had smashed into. She entered and immediately saw Jiang Wenpei lying in the corner, a bloody hole in his chest. She checked his breathing and pulse; he had been dead for some time.
She stood up, bowed her head, and observed a minute of silence before raising her flashlight to look around.
The entire treatment room floor was covered in bloodstains and bloody footprints, along with torn, blood-stained clothes, shoes, and several empty syringes, all of which looked particularly eerie under the constantly flashing red light.
She shone her flashlight on the wall and discovered several lines of writing. She hadn't seen them before when she peeked through the crack in the door; the limited view prevented her from seeing them.
The first piece of writing was exceptionally large, each character as big as an everyday chair, as if afraid that others wouldn't see it; it read "Don't come out."
Chu Yi couldn't have written these words in front of Jiang Yan; they could only have been written by Jiang Yan. It must have been written before he completely lost his temper, as a warning to Chu Yi.
Below the warning was a column of numbers, “”.
This was the password to open a certain door, also written by Jiang Yan. She followed the bloodstains on the ground to a wall and saw a dent inside, where the numeric keypad was located.
She pressed the keypad with the numeric password, and a door opened silently beside her, while the room lit up. She looked inside.
This is a state-of-the-art operating room. The basic structure is exactly the same as the operating rooms she remembers. In the center is an operating table, equipped with surgical lights, a pendant system, an anesthesia machine, monitors…
Everything was so familiar, yet none of it was the same as what she had used before. She couldn't even name many of the devices; they were technologies completely ahead of her time.
She wasn't surprised; both super-stimulants and beam guns were technologies of the future, and the operating room was no exception.
Out of professional instinct, she first shut down the operating room.
She could already connect everything that had happened here in her mind.
Jiang Yan and Bai Zhiyi brought Chu Yi here. Bai Zhiyi suddenly attacked Jiang Yan and stole his defensive gun. On the verge of death, Jiang Yan injected himself with a secret drug and pushed Chu Yi into the operating room.
Knowing he would lose his temper, he wrote a warning on the wall beforehand and also wrote down the password to enter the operating room.
The only puzzling thing was that the operating room was right there, and Jiang Yan knew the password to enter. Why didn't he go into the operating room to treat himself?
By the way, the patient can't perform the surgery themselves. So where is the person who will perform the surgery?
There was no one in the operating room, but Chu Yi was indeed cured, which means that someone did perform surgery on Chu Yi.
Forget it, I'll stop thinking about it now. Getting Wei Jingzhuo over here is the most important thing.
As she turned to leave, a red light illuminated two large, bloody characters on the right wall of the exit, which she hadn't noticed before.
The two characters were: "breathing." They were written crookedly, barely legible. An empty syringe lay discarded beneath the wall.
She scratched her head. What did "breathing" mean?
The literal meaning should be "panting," so why did Jiang Yan write this? Or did he just write it randomly after losing his mind?
She didn't want to waste too much time on this and left the consultation room.
Before I even stepped out the door, I heard gasps of surprise from a crowd in the distance, breaking the tranquility of the night.
The sound is coming from the front yard.
Her heart tightened, and she quickly ran to the front yard.
Halfway there, Lin Qingfeng came running towards her, pushing a cart. He was pale-faced and shouted when he saw her, "Mistress, that monster has broken into the forge!"
Su Wan was startled and turned around to lead the way: "Come with me quickly, let's hide in the operating room."
The underground forging room of the family of divine healers is a place to hide from Jiang Yan, followed by the operating room. If Jiang Yan breaks into the forging room, then the only place he can hide is the operating room.
She led Lin Qingfeng down the passageway. Lin Qingfeng was strong enough to lift the cart and walk across the difficult section.
Only after entering the operating room did Su Wan feel relieved and asked Lin Qingfeng, "What happened? What's going on?"
Lin Qingfeng, panting heavily, said, "I don't know either. I was waiting outside the lord's door when I suddenly heard screams coming from the storage room. I heard the monster roaring inside, so I hid inside. I heard the monster go deeper into the room from outside the door, so I pushed the lord out and met Chu Yi at the door. He told me to come here to find the mistress."
After confirming that Wei Jingzhuo was alright, Su Wan said to Lin Qingfeng, "You protected Ajin, that's a great achievement. You stay here with Ajin. I'm going out to find Brother Chu and the others."
Lin Qingfeng said, "Mistress, that monster is too powerful. What use would you be if you went?"
“Brother Chu and Sister Chu are both outside. I can’t leave them behind.” Su Wan opened the operating room door. “Don’t worry, I know the habits of ghosts and monsters very well. Everything will be fine. You protect A-Jin.”
Chu Yi is alright; he's skilled in martial arts and should be able to protect himself. Chu Mingyao was the one who saved them at Xiping Pass, but she doesn't know martial arts, so she can't abandon her benefactor.
She left the consultation room and went to the artificial hill in the front yard.
Several corpses lay scattered outside the artificial hill, all of them men wielding weapons.
The metal door at the entrance was open, with a pool of blood on it. There were no signs of forced entry; it appeared someone inside had opened it. Faint sounds of Jiang Yan's roars and screams of agony could be heard from within.
