Chapter 143 Staying at Home

Lin Ying returned home, first placing Er Ya and Shuanzi inside, before taking out the large wooden tub from her spatial storage. This time, she added some hot spring water into it.

Hot spring water and spiritual spring water together.

Just as the two little ones were drinking, the two parent animals arrived. Seeing the food in their mouths, Lin Ying knew they were bringing food for their children, only to find that Lin Ying had returned.

Seeing the two little ones drinking heartily, the big tiger joined in. This time, Lin Ying let them drink freely.

Seeing that there wasn't much left, she replenished their bowls. They continued drinking until they were completely full. Only then did Lin Ying put the wooden basin away.

Because they were too full from drinking, they couldn't eat meat for the time being. However, after learning that Lin Ying had returned, the big tiger took the two little ones away. But it didn't take the meat with it.

Lin Ying looked at the meat and decided to leave it there for the time being.

She first replenished the matchbox. If she didn't, it probably wouldn't last much longer.

After tidying up the house, Lin Ying dressed the two children. She then took the meat in a trolley to the women's director's office.

Upon seeing Lin Ying, Deng Li assumed she needed help with something, but Lin Ying simply said, "A few days ago, something happened at home, and everyone's been quite anxious these past few days. The tigers have left. This is the meat they left behind before they departed. I brought it over so my sister-in-law could share it with everyone to calm our nerves."

Deng Li was also incredulous upon hearing this. This tiger doesn't eat people, yet it feeds them flesh?

But looking at the meat, it certainly didn't seem like it had been killed by someone: "Since you put it that way, I won't stand on ceremony. Indeed, everyone has been staying home these past two days, afraid to go out and encounter a tiger. Now that everyone knows the tiger is gone, they can all feel much more at ease."

Lin Ying smiled and said, "Then I'll trouble you, sister-in-law. I won't take my share. Please share some with our neighbors on both sides. They're the ones who are most worried."

Deng Li knew that Lin Ying truly had no shortage of needs, so she didn't stand on ceremony: "Okay! Don't worry, sister-in-law will definitely be fair in everything she does."

Lin Ying nodded: "Yes, I trust my sister-in-law. I'll leave that thing here for you. I just got back, and the house is still a mess."

Deng Li immediately agreed: "That works too."

After delivering the meat, Lin Ying got busy again upon her return.

She hadn't showered for three days in a row, and she felt that she would smell bad if she didn't shower soon.

Shuanzi was a little better; he went to the military bathhouse with Zhang Shanlin every day, while Lin Ying didn't go because it was inconvenient for her.

The room was too cold, and Lin Ying didn't wash Er Ya. So now she and Er Ya were the smelliest.

Shuanzi can take a bath tonight. Lin Ying boiled water and then took Er Ya directly into the bathtub.

Surprisingly, the little one really thrived in the water, except for being a bit nervous at first. But because Lin Ying was there, she knew she would be alright and started splashing around.

However, she was still too young, and Lin Ying couldn't let her splash around freely. She only gave her a bath while she played, then filled a tub with water and let her splash around in it while Lin Ying started bathing herself.

Lin Ying really wanted to just draw the hot spring water from her spatial dimension for a bath. However, the spatial water was somewhat magical; the bathwater wouldn't be able to flow out and she'd have to bring it back into the space, which she was too lazy to bother with. She figured she'd rather wait until she had some time to soak in it.

After taking a shower, Lin Ying changed into her pajamas and, along with Er Ya, who was reluctant to come out, helped her put on her clothes and came to the living room.

Lin Ying put Er Ya on the ground and asked Shuanzi to watch over her before she busied herself cooking.

"He who eats another's food is bound to him; he who takes another's gift is obligated to him." Although Lin Ying's family had caused such a commotion, leaving everyone in a state of panic, they dared not say anything now that the other party had shared meat with everyone.

One can only envy them: "No wonder they eat meat every day. They must have tigers hunting for them!"

"Who says otherwise? There were people eyeing their house before. You see, if they're not home, that tiger won't be happy if you go there."

"If that's the case, what if Lin Ying moves out in the future? Will the house still be uninhabitable?"

"They said they'd build a new family compound in the future, with apartment buildings. Who would envy a dilapidated thatched hut?"

"To be honest, I don't care about the thatched hut we live in now, but who wouldn't want Lin Ying's thatched hut?"

"That's right, their houses are warm in winter and cool in summer. They're so comfortable to live in. Much more comfortable than apartment buildings."

This wasn't the first time they'd feigned envy towards Lin Ying. Now they were practically used to it.

After dinner, and once both children were asleep, Lin Ying sat down and began writing her business plan.

She took a few days off, and Director Wu wasn't angry at all; in fact, he said he wouldn't deduct her salary. This made her feel somewhat guilty. Therefore, during this time, she planned to focus on doing her job as a technical consultant well.

Today, the entire commune has ten production brigades. In addition to Baoshan Village, there are several other villages.

Uncle Zhou's village mainly produces water vats and ceramics. There are a few other villages, some specializing in furniture and coarse cloth. Others mainly produce ordinary agricultural products.

Therefore, apart from these few villages that specialize in producing certain goods, the other villages still have to rely on the harvest from the land to make a living.

But the people in Northeast China spend half the year hibernating. Where would they get so much food that they would have no income for half a year?

So it's not just them who have to go up the mountain to collect ingredients; the villagers do too.

There's no other way but to go; otherwise, we'll starve to death all winter.

The house was already small, and they even had to use a basket to house their precious baby. You can imagine how hard life must have been for them.

The villages near the mountains rely on the mountains for their livelihood. Those not near the mountains fish. They can't all starve.
