Chapter 3 Vitality

"My grandson, my grandson! I have a grandson, I want a grandson!" Jiao's mother's voice instantly soared to eight octaves, her hands trembling as she touched Jiangshan's belly.

Jiang Shan gave a drawn-out "Mmm," and said, "Now that you have a grandson, you're not allowed to see Erlang anymore, understand?"

Jiao's mother paused for a moment, then nodded vigorously, "We won't look for Erlang. Erlang has been promoted, we can't look for Erlang!"

...Damn it! Jiang Shan was so angry he almost fell over backwards. No wonder he's her biological son.

"Then you'd better remember this: if you want a grandson, you can't keep talking about Erlang, or you won't have a grandson!"

"I want a grandson, I want a grandson!" Mother Jiao nodded frantically.

Jiao Sanlang stared dumbfounded at his mother and sister-in-law's actions, feeling as if he could hardly recognize the two people in front of him anymore.

Jiang Shan happily coaxed Jiao's mother into helping him prepare the medicine. Sometimes, when she was lucid, she would take the initiative to do some housework. Cooking, washing clothes, sewing and mending were all easy for her, and preparing medicine was even easier for her.

After appeasing the elders, Jiang Shan still had to soothe the younger ones.

To her surprise, Jiao Sanlang was much more mature than she had imagined.

"Sister-in-law, are you really pregnant? It's not my brother's child, and it doesn't have a father, right?"

A child's innocent remark almost brought Jiang Shan to tears.

Damn it, not only was she pregnant out of wedlock, she didn't even know whose child it was.

The villagers weren't wronging her; she even had a child, so there was no way she could escape her lover.

Jiangshan could tolerate all the gossip, but she couldn't let Jiao's mother and Sanlang be talked about.

This child is not a member of the Jiao family, and she needs to make them understand this so they won't resent her because of it.

She slowly lowered herself in front of Jiao Sanlang, looked into his eyes, took his hand, and said, "Sanlang, from now on, you can call me sister. I have a little baby in my belly. When he grows up, he will call you uncle, and he will call our mother and grandmother. It doesn't matter that he doesn't have a father. He has us as his relatives, and that's enough. We are a family!"

Jiao Sanlang stared intently at Jiang Shan, then at her belly, and said earnestly, "Sister, I will take good care of the baby for you."

"Sanlang is such a good boy, the baby will be counting on you from now on!"

While Jiang Shan was taking his medicine, Jiao's mother sat beside him watching, her joy barely concealed.

Looking at her now, she doesn't seem mentally unstable at all.

"Drink up, Mom added sugar, it's not bitter. I also have a pair of bracelets here, I'll ask the village chief to take them to town to pawn them for some money, and I'll also get you some tonics, and buy two packs of your favorite brown sugar osmanthus cake!"

Alright, still clueless! The ones shouting the loudest that day, wanting to drown the country, were the village chief and his wife. Jiao's mother almost got into a fight with the village chief's wife!

I forgot about it the moment I turned my head!

Jiang Shan casually drank his medicine, thinking to himself how to get rid of the baby in his belly without anyone noticing!

She needs to find a safe method with no side effects, preferably one that succeeds on the first try.

What a joke! How could a minor, unmarried girl possibly have a child for an irresponsible, shameless, and filthy stranger?

Right now, coaxing the old woman and the child is just a temporary measure; she has no better solution.

While wiping his mouth with his handkerchief, Jiang Shan accidentally bumped into a hard lump at his waist. He took out his purse and saw that it contained several silver ingots.

It's quite heavy.

She thought about it and realized that the young man named Fu Zhi had given her a bag of silver after he brought her back.

But why is this person so kind to her?

Could it be because she got pregnant out of wedlock, and people feel sorry for her current situation?

Regardless, she accepted Fu Zhixue's timely help.

The most important thing now is to take good care of this little body, otherwise it won't be able to withstand any more strain.

She clutched her purse tightly and said, "Mother, Sanlang, I'll go to town early tomorrow morning to buy some things to nourish you. You wait for me at home, and be good!"

After a chaotic day, Jiangshan slept very well that night.

She opens her eyes in the morning, gets up, fetches water, and rinses her mouth in one smooth motion, as if she has done it countless times and knows it by heart.

Standing in front of the empty stove in the kitchen, Jiang Shan was still a little dazed.

Clearly, her actions were faster than her brain could process.

There was nothing to eat in the kitchen, so she used the last half bowl of coarse flour to cook a pot of porridge, drank a couple of sips, and then went out.

Before dawn, every house was closed, and there were hardly any people to be seen along the way.

Occasionally, she would see one or two early risers, who would all give her a dirty look, full of malice.

Anyway, Jiangshan doesn't know anyone, so he can treat them all as strangers and completely ignore them.

To get to town, you have to cross the mountain at the entrance of the village.

As if guided by some unseen force, she followed her instincts without hesitation.

It was clearly a completely unknown world, but for some reason, she didn't feel the unease and confusion one would feel in an unknown world.

On the contrary, it seemed as if a voice inside her was calling out again and again: Don't be afraid, keep moving forward, keep moving forward!

It was late autumn, and the rustling, withered branches and vines, accompanied by startled birds spreading their wings, created a unique and charming scene. Jiang Shan enjoyed the scenery along the way, humming an unknown tune, quite content.

Suddenly, a familiar stick-like object stretched out from the ground at an angle, almost tripping her.

She looked up and her eyes lit up instantly!

On the small, cliff-like slope to the left, large patches of yellow earth hold wild yams that meander and stretch out into the distance.

This is great stuff!

This stuff can not only fill your stomach, but also nourish your spleen and stomach, making it an essential ingredient for medicinal cuisine.
