At the ceremony
After returning home, Tiffany invited some nobles, including royalty, to attend her ceremony of inheriting her title and becoming the head of her family, and informed them of the location of the ceremony.
Needless to say, nobles will come if they are invited. As for the royal family, it concerns the succession of titles and the head of a family. Regardless of others, the king will definitely come, and his sons will certainly come to win over Tiffany.
The succession ceremony was held at a manor owned by Tiffany, a manor called Prafente. She had come to check on the situation because she had encountered some minor problems with the army she was organizing for a rebellion. On her way back, she was assassinated by the Duke of Ferrand and Hicks.
A respected elder from the family presided over the ceremony.
Tiff wore a formal gown made for her by the royal family. She wore no makeup and her hair was simply tied up casually.
So when she arrived at the manor, everyone who saw her thought she was so upset because her father was still unconscious after the assassination attempt, and that she hadn't even put on makeup. In fact, she had just stayed up too late because of her plot to usurp the throne and was too lazy to put on makeup.
“Oh, sweetheart, you look so haggard!” A woman walked towards her; it was Sheman Strickland.
Actually, Tiffany didn't look very haggard. She just had dark circles under her eyes because she stayed up late last night, but they weren't very noticeable.
"Auntie, is it that obvious?" She pressed her fingertips to her eyes and lowered her gaze.
"It's alright, sweetheart," Qianman reassured her, telling her not to worry too much.
The king has arrived at the scene, and everyone bows to him.
Tiffany remained in a bowing posture as the King approached her. "Duke Stryker."
Although the ceremony has not yet begun, the king has already acknowledged Tiff's identity.
"Your Majesty," Tiff said, bowing slightly, appearing very respectful.
"Hmm..." The king nodded, and everyone stopped bowing.
Tiff watched the King walk away, and when she looked up, her eyes met Murray's. She paused for a moment, then smiled at him.
Even the king has arrived, so the ceremony can begin. The elder presiding over the ceremony first announces the situation of the previous duke, and then announces the name of the successor.
"Therefore, his title is inherited by his only son, Tiff Strych!" the old man announced.
Tiff took a few steps forward on the stage and then bowed.
The old man continued, "Does anyone have any objections?" No one spoke.
"Alright! Then I announce..."
"I object!" a man shouted as he stood up. "Because Tiffany Sturges is not the Duke's only child, and the Duke intends to strip Tiffany Sturges of her right to inherit the throne!" In truth, he was somewhat guilty as he said this, because he was not entirely sure if it was true.
But that was a huge fortune, and he wasn't lying; the man's photographic sphere did indeed record the Duke saying he would strip Tiffany of her right to the inheritance.
Tiff had looked over when the man stood up. She knew these people wouldn't let her have her way. One of the familiar faces was the mustachioed man who had been sitting next to Bavi.
Upon hearing this, Tiffany's eyes flashed with murderous intent. She wondered why this man knew this, and who else knew about it. Had her father told him? But they weren't close.
Pugo was also shocked when he saw the mustache-wearing man stand up, because the mustache-wearing man was his man, and he knew nothing about this.
"What are you saying!" Tiffany frowned, looking at him in shock, as if she had heard something unbelievable.
"Haha." The man laughed, "It seems no one believes me. Well then, I'll show you something." The man reached into his robes.
Tiff had been watching his movements closely. When he said he wanted to show everyone something, she kept staring at his hands. When she confirmed that the item was in the man's arms, she smiled subtly and then secretly used magic.
"Snap!" The photo recorder exploded the moment the man with the mustache took it out, leaving him bewildered by the unexpected turn of events.
After a moment of surprise, he immediately pointed at Tiffany, "You're the one who did this!"
“Me?” Tiff looked at the fragment in his hand and said sarcastically, “Hmph, I don’t have that ability.”
No one believed him. Although it was indeed suspicious that the instantaneous hologram shattered as soon as it was taken out, they didn't think it was Tiffany who did it.
On the surface, Tiffany was just a recent graduate of Samuel's school, and only ranked seventh on the magic power rankings. Even the number one magician didn't have the ability to do it, let alone her. Moreover, the image sphere required a higher-level magician to break it. Rather than him pointing the finger at Tiffany, they suspected that this was a play orchestrated by this man himself.
Looking at Tiffany's appearance, the man with the mustache suddenly remembered what the other man had said when he took a picture of him.
"You must protect this thing well, after all, she is capable of breaking the holographic ball."
The man with the mustache didn't understand why the other man had given him the photo sphere, and he guessed that Tiffany would break it, so why didn't he give himself something to protect the photo sphere?
The king's guards approached the man, took the shards from his hand, and sent them for examination.
At that moment, Tiff looked at Pugo, her eyes already moist, and asked him, choking back tears, "Why?"
Pugo looked bewildered, but when he saw Tiffany's tears falling from her eyes, he finally realized what she was up to.
“Uncle Pugo, Father and you are brothers, why did you send him to slander me?” Tiff pointed at the man with the mustache, and coughed twice as if she couldn’t accept it. Dope immediately went to support her.
Pugo never imagined that one day, after his own people betrayed him, he would have to deal with the trouble they caused.
Before Pugo could speak, Tiff continued, "You don't need to say you don't know about this, because I don't believe it. Everyone knows that Bavi and he are you and only obey you."
“Last time,” Tiff wiped the tears from her cheeks, “Bavi insulted me in the conference room. Lisa couldn’t stand it anymore and pulled out his tongue. Unexpectedly, Bavi died that very day, on his way back. I know you wanted them to suspect that I did it, but it’s obviously a frame-up!”
"I never imagined you could be so ruthless as to lay a hand on them."
"After he points out that I am not my father's only heir, are you still going to say that I killed Bavi?!"
It has to be said that Tiffany was right, because Pugo really intended to do that.
Tiff breathed softly, and Dope patted her back gently beside her. Tears streamed down her face, her eyelashes were wet, and she coughed every now and then. Finally, she exhaled and said, "Uncle Pugo, why are you targeting me like this, even going so far as to kill someone who has followed you for so many years?"
Pugo was rendered speechless by Tiff's barrage of words.
With a missing fiancé, a comatose father, a deceased mother, and relatives eyeing the family fortune, Tiffany was truly a pitiful orphan in everyone's eyes.
For some reason, they seemed to have forgotten Tiff's ranking on the magic power list at Samuel Academy. She was an outstanding S-class graduate, and her health should be excellent, but Tiff was always coughing and looked like she was about to faint at any moment. Perhaps they really had a bad memory, or perhaps Tiff's image of frailty in people's minds over the past ten years was too deeply ingrained.
At that moment, the door was pushed open, footsteps were heard, and a figure walked in with his back to the light.
“What a show,” he said.
