Chapter 96 The Wei family is filthy and stinking.

Upon hearing the servant's words, the surrounding male guests immediately began to curse.

Wei Xian was a scholar who became an official through the imperial examinations. Many of his friends and colleagues were also from the same background, having all passed the formal imperial examinations.

The imperial examinations were a major event in life, but Wei Xian, out of jealousy, ruined his juniors so badly, not only making them miss the exams but also destroying their future.

Many students come from impoverished families and have studied diligently for ten years, hoping to one day turn their lives around and achieve upward mobility. However, their lives have been altered because of Wei Xian's momentary resentment.

These scholars immediately felt the same way and all wished they could tear Wei Xian apart alive.

"Brother Wei is such a person? He is usually so warm and hospitable, gentle and refined. How could he do such a despicable thing?"

"What Brother Wei? He's nothing but a hypocrite. This guy surnamed Wei is utterly depraved; he doesn't even deserve to call us brothers!"

"You really can't judge a book by its cover. Wei Xian used to look like a gentleman, but his career as an official is over."

"It's not just his career that's over, I don't know if he can even keep his head, his whole family is filthy and stinking."

The male guests who were invited were all people who had a good relationship with Wei Xian. Among them were candidates who were preparing for the imperial examinations this year. When they heard what the servant said, they broke out in a cold sweat.

They were clearly candidates chosen by Wei Xian to be harmed. Wei Xian had treated them very well before and had even given them enthusiastic guidance on writing policy essays. Many people regarded him as a mentor and friend. It turns out that Wei Xian was not willing to help people at all, but instead harbored the intention to harm them.

"The Wei family is a den of demons! The couple conspired to murder for money, and their two children committed adultery. At least Wei Sheng was somewhat acceptable, but that was someone else's son. Their own son is simply outrageous."

"Like begets like. The son of a rat knows how to dig a hole. Jiang Chengyi grew up in the Marquis of Zhongyi's mansion, where the best teachers were hired for both civil and military affairs. His writing was even guided by a great Confucian scholar. He studied in the best academy from a young age, surrounded by scholars. The Marquis's mansion was full of loyal and patriotic generals. Even growing up in such an environment, he still failed to become a talent. Instead, he was only interested in women and even had sex with his own sister."

"Wei Xian is a lecherous man. He keeps mistresses and forces women into prostitution. His own son will only become worse. That wandering Taoist priest's divination was incredibly accurate. The Wei family is truly a laughingstock!"

After learning of Wei Xian's malicious intentions, these students spoke quite rudely, with many gritting their teeth, their faces full of hatred, and harboring thoughts of revenge.

"Wei Xian, you bastard! You switched the baby, so you should treat him properly! I've raised your son with all my heart, but you only beat and scold him. You've wasted all your time studying the classics!"

Just as the guests were vehemently denouncing the incident, the Marquis of Zhongyi's furious shouts and curses rang out.

Everyone looked over and saw that the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness had grabbed Wei Xian by the collar and dragged him over like a chick.

"Brother-in-law, it's a misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding!" Wei Xian was still a little slurred, not because he hadn't sobered up, but because his face was swollen like a pig's head, which affected his speech.

No sooner had he finished speaking than he received a slap across the face; the Marquis of Loyalty swung his arm and delivered the blow.

"I don't have a brother-in-law as disgusting as you. How did I end up as your brother-in-law? My father-in-law must have bad eyesight to have chosen you as his son-in-law!"

"My lord," Cen Ying said disapprovingly.

It's one thing to curse in the mansion, but to curse one's father-in-law in front of so many people is definitely not a good thing.

Marquis Zhongyi coughed lightly and immediately changed the subject: "Madam, where is Sheng-ge'er? He has been abused all these years, and those two scoundrels must give him an explanation."

Upon hearing the words "dog couple," Cen Ying frowned and glared at them, wondering what nonsense they were spouting in front of so many guests.

“He was transferred fifteen years ago and was powerless to resist. Now that he’s been transferred back, he’s powerless to stop it either. He’s been the one suffering the most these past few days. Let’s talk to him properly once things have calmed down.” Cen Ying sighed and waved her hand, unwilling to say more.

If Wei Sheng were here, he would probably be the subject of much gossip as well. Although he was the victim, it must have been unpleasant to watch him being scrutinized by countless eyes as if he were a spectator.

Whether it's a mocking gaze or a pitying look, it puts a lot of pressure on him.

"What Madam says is true, Wei Xian. My son has suffered so much, while you, you bastard, are living the high life. You must be very proud of yourself, seeing how the Marquis's mansion treats your son like a princess, right? I'll beat you to death!" Marquis Zhongyi turned his head and looked at Wei Xian again, and directly twisted his shoulder hard.

With two muffled cracking sounds, Wei Xian immediately opened his mouth and screamed. His right arm drooped down, clearly dislocated.

"Ahhh—" His scream had barely escaped when the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness raised his hand again and twisted it hard, and the sound of bones breaking came once more.

Wei Xian's screams stopped abruptly. His mouth was half-open and he couldn't close it at all. Saliva was drooling from the corners of his mouth, clearly indicating that his jaw had also been dislocated.

He was in so much pain that his face turned pale, and tears streamed down his face; he couldn't control himself at all.

That wasn't the end of it. Marquis Zhongyi kicked him in the shinbone, and Wei Xian instantly collapsed to the ground, writhing in pain, unable to utter a sound. Clearly, his leg was also crippled.

The Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness's three actions were swift, precise, and executed in one go with ease, completed in just a few breaths. Many people didn't even see it clearly before Wei Xian became half a cripple.

The guests, who had been passionately hurling insults, fell silent instantly, all astonished by the Marquis of Loyalty's actions.

Seeing Wei Xian lying on the ground with his mouth crooked and eyes slanted, all the guests broke out in a cold sweat. Most of the people present were weak scholars, not even worth a few blows from the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness, and they would all be crippled.

"Ah, Master, Master!" Cen Jie fell to the ground, finally freeing herself from the control of the two maids, and screamed in alarm.

"How could you resort to vigilante justice? Our master is an official appointed by the imperial court. Your beating of him is contempt for the law—" Cen Jie was extremely distressed and, like a shrew, yelled at the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness.

"Ha, you didn't even give me any advance notice when you replaced my son. Why are you trying to reason with me now? This is nothing compared to what he suffered for fifteen years. These few things are nothing compared to the injustices he endured." Marquis Zhongyi sneered.
