Chapter 97 Dali Temple Takes Over

In full view of everyone, Wei Xian was beaten half to death, while Cen Jie was forced to drink tea until she was half dead and almost vomiting.

Cen Jie lay on the ground, unable to even cry out. Whenever she opened her mouth, she felt the tea in her stomach gushing out. In front of so many guests, she really couldn't vomit, otherwise she would lose all her dignity.

"My lord."

A young official walked in from outside. He was dressed in the robes of a fourth-rank official and was none other than the Vice Minister of the Court of Judicial Review.

"Lord Li, you've arrived. I'm here to denounce the Wei family for being a den of snakes and rats, colluding with each other to harm the common people and persecute scholars. The servants of the Wei family have all confessed, and the guests present can also testify. Some of the evidence is here, but there are other crimes. I'll trouble Lord Li to take some men to investigate."

After the two exchanged greetings, the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness gave a brief account of the matter.

Li Shu waved his hand, and the guards from the Dali Temple who were following behind him immediately rushed in. The guards from the Marquis of Zhongyi’s residence began to withdraw, handing the place over to the Dali Temple for management.

"Esteemed guests, I would be grateful if you could bear witness to this." Marquis Zhongyi bowed and said very politely.

The clerk from the Dali Temple took out paper and pen and began to register the guests. These guests could not leave at this point, so they could only let them write down their identities and names for future inquiries.

Xu Wanying couldn't help but give a mental thumbs up: [No wonder they didn't drive these guests away after surrounding the Wei family; they wanted them to be witnesses. Many voices can influence a story; the guests can act as both mouthpieces and witnesses—a double win!]

After the Dali Temple took over, the Jiang family prepared to leave.

"Father, Mother." An anxious voice called from behind.

Jiang Chengyi rushed over, his clothes were new, and his face was full of anxiety.

"Little sister, take me with you!" He rushed over, trying to get closer to Jiang Jinyu.

Before he could even get close, Marquis Zhongyi had already made his move, giving him a hard shove on the shoulder. Jiang Chengyi immediately stumbled back two steps, accidentally stepping on his right foot with his left, and fell flat on his backside.

"Coward, you fall over with a push. You're definitely not a member of the Jiang family!" Marquis Zhongyi looked at him with contempt, his disdain evident in his words.

He used to complain about Jiang Chengyi, saying she was like a frail little chick, but back then he couldn't do anything about it because she was his child.

Good bamboo produces bad shoots; we can only accept it.

Now that he knows it's a fake, not his and Cen Ying's child at all, he instantly has a feeling of "I knew it," and he can finally get rid of this burden.

"Father, what nonsense are you talking about? I am a member of the Jiang family, your youngest son. I was injured a while ago and fell down with just a push. Once I recover, you can come and spar with me. Master Wu said I've improved a lot recently." He said urgently.

"Stop pretending. I just instructed the servant to tell you everything that happened in the front yard. It's all been found out now. Those heartless bastards from the Wei family replaced you and Sheng-ge'er. You are Wei Sheng, and he is Jiang Chengyi." Cen Ying interrupted him coldly, ruthlessly exposing his pretense.

Jiang Chengyi clearly did not accept this. As soon as she finished speaking, he retorted sharply, "I am Jiang Chengyi. I crawled out of your womb, Mother. Aunt is just aunt. She is not worthy of giving birth to me!"

Cen Jie had felt sorry for him when she saw him being pushed down, but when she heard him say those words, she felt as if she had been hit hard, and a bit of resentment arose in her heart.

If she hadn't gone to great lengths to switch her sons back then, how could he have become the legitimate son of the Marquis's family and enjoyed so many years of wealth and honor?

But now her biological son refuses to acknowledge her, and even publicly berates her for not being worthy.

This made Cen Jie feel extremely uncomfortable, as if someone was choking her.

Fifteen years ago, she harbored boundless ambitions and put them into action, until today her ambitions were exposed, and this retribution seems endless, relentlessly assailing her.

"Mother, I grew up by your side when I was so young, and you took care of everything for me. I know I did something wrong just now and upset you. Don't worry, I will definitely correct my ways from now on, and I will do whatever you ask me to do. I will never do anything unnecessary!"

Jiang Chengyi was clearly panicked. He crawled over on all fours, trying to hug Cen Ying's leg and act cute and silly.

However, before he could get close, the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness immediately raised his leg and kicked him over.

“Speak if you want, but don’t get so close. You’re an outsider now; your parents aren’t here.” He said coldly.

“Little sister, little sister, please talk to our parents. We are twins, a boy and a girl, and have lived together since we were little. We are very close. You know very well who your real brother is, right? They've made a mistake. The Wei family is trying to frame us. They want to send that bastard Wei Sheng to the Marquis's mansion to enjoy a life of luxury and squeeze out me, the real young master. Think about it carefully, your brother has always loved you the most…”

Seeing the Jiang family's resolute attitude and their unfamiliar gazes upon him, Jiang Chengyi felt as if the sky were about to fall.

He looked at Jiang Jinyu with a pleading expression on his face, as if he were grasping at the last straw in his life.

Jiang Jinyu frowned. In fact, when she learned that Jiang Chengyi was a fake, she knew that she would be the one in the most difficult situation.

Before they knew the truth, although the Jiang family was all deceived, she was the one who was deceived the most and the one who was the hardest to get rid of it.

After all, they were twins in name only, raised together since childhood, and almost everyone around her told her that they were the closest people in the world and should support each other.

Even as they grow up, Jiang Jinyu may find some of Jiang Chengyi's behaviors disagreeable, but she will always be tolerant. After all, he is her closest brother, and what Jiang Chengyi shows her are only minor flaws that do not affect the overall situation.

Now that Jiang Chengyi has been proven not to be her biological brother, their closeness over the years cannot be erased. Twins are inherently closer than ordinary siblings, and even if men and women are separated in the future, they will not be as wary of each other as they are of outsiders. Otherwise, Jiang Chengyi would not have been able to steal her handkerchiefs and fans.

“The evidence is irrefutable, I can’t persuade you. You’re not my brother anymore,” Jiang Jinyu said coldly.

Jiang Chengyi's expression changed instantly upon hearing these words, her face which had been pleading.

"Jiang Jinyu, you cold-hearted woman, all the good I've done for you, you just don't—"

His face turned sinister, his eyes filled with malice, and he began to hurl insults, clearly abandoning all sentimentality and ready to completely break off relations.

Judging from his posture, it was clear that he would say even more vicious things later, so the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness made another move, clenching his fist and swinging it forcefully at his cheek.

Jiang Chengyi was speechless for a moment. Her head was knocked to the side, and she spun around before falling to the ground again.

He covered his mouth, tears streaming down his face, completely unable to control himself.

After a moment, he moved his mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood, with a molar mixed in with the blood.
