Chapter 5 (13)

Chapter 5 (13)

Yu Shuang had to take the two children back home with his sister-in-law after giving birth, and he had to take care of the afterlife. Kang Long volunteered to go with him, but Yu Shuang felt bad about constantly bothering him, but her niece and nephew couldn't live without Uncle Kang. Seeing Kang Long's genuine willingness to help, Yu Shuang agreed to let him go.

The third child was a girl. My sister-in-law and her parents didn't like her very much when she was born. Although there was no basis for their belief, they shared the same idea as the people of Yu Ying: this child had brought bad luck to her father, and they were afraid that she would bring bad luck to her mother.

His sister-in-law had no milk, and the baby was crying with hunger. Yu Shuang immediately went to buy imported milk powder, just to feed the third child first. Yu Qing had just died, and a new life had arrived. His sister-in-law was in poor mental and physical condition. Faced with a woman younger than herself, Yu Shuang felt both hatred and pity.

The reason for her hatred remained the same: she felt her brother, Yu Qing, had been worked to death. The burden of the family was too great. She felt pity, needless to say, for three children, and what would happen to his sister-in-law in the future. Yu Qing's wife could only cry out, calling him sister.

Yu Shuang had given a lot of money this time. He stuffed the money into his mother-in-law's pocket. His mother-in-law muttered, "Qing his sister... this... this day..."

It's all tears.

If it were the past, Yu Shuang would definitely scold: "Who told you to have three?!" But the facts were before him, and he had to face them. What's the point of scolding? If he scolded too harshly, his sister-in-law would close her eyes and jump into the lake. The old one was old, the young one was small...

I can’t imagine it.

The persuasion worked. Finally, his sister-in-law pulled herself together and made it clear that she wanted to leave her hometown and work. With the old and the young, she had to take on Yu Qing's burden and support the family. Yu Shuang was so moved that she almost cried. What a great mother! Deep down, Yu Shuang made up her mind to give her sister-in-law a little money every month—not for them, but for her three poor nieces and nephews, the new generation of the Yu family.

Kang Long asked someone to find a job, and then he called Yuan Kai, who also helped to find a solution. Yu Shuang's sister-in-law was filled with gratitude.

Everything was settled, and Yu Shuang left quickly. Everyone had their own life. She helped the needy, not the poor; she still had her work to do. That day, Yu Shuang and Kang Long were chatting about the aftermath in their hotel room.

Yu Qing's mother-in-law is here.

"Aunt." Yu Shuang said politely.

The mother-in-law glanced at Kang Long. Yu Shuang understood and said quickly, "Old Kang, go buy two bottles of water."

Kang Long tactfully left, leaving only two women in the room.

My mother-in-law sat on the edge of the bed, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Aunt, what's wrong?"

"His sister, thank you for this."

"Shouldn't it be like this?"

"Xiao Qing left so suddenly... I feel... sad..." There is a tremor at the end.

Yu Shuang pointed her index finger at the inner corner of her eye, and she was about to cry when her brother was mentioned.

The mother-in-law folded her hands and remained silent.

Yu Shuang thought it was about money, so he asked directly, "Are there any other difficulties?" His mother-in-law waved her hand. Yu Shuang had already reached into her bag to find her wallet.

My mother-in-law quickly said, "No, no, then why? There must be something wrong."

Yu Shuang had no choice but to sit back down and wait for her to continue.

His mother-in-law added, "At that time, I didn't recommend having a child. Xiaofang was also embarrassed, but Xiaoqing insisted, saying that having more children means more blessings and that he wanted to leave two more descendants for the Yu family. Your uncle and I also tried to persuade him, but you know Xiaoqing's temper. He's the head of the family and he's a big talker. Who can say anything to him?"

Yu Shuang said awkwardly, "It's just a lack of consideration."

The mother-in-law said, "It's good now. As far as we can see, the two older ones need to go to school, and the youngest one just came out. Xiaofang has no milk, and the family can't afford to hire someone to buy milk. The child is crying with hunger, and I feel so bad... Your uncle and I have lived a fulfilling life. One day we can close our eyes and not feel tired, but the child still has a long way to go! In the future, Xiaofang will be alone, and she won't have any special abilities. What will she do?"

Yu Shuang said he would take care of it and help with the arrangements.

His mother-in-law complained, "I only care about the present moment, not the whole life."

Yu Shuang said nothing.

The mother-in-law suddenly said in a breathless voice, "Sister, how about we adopt the third child to accompany you?" Yu Shuang was shocked and waved her hands around subconsciously. But the mother-in-law did not give her a chance to refuse, and continued, "Don't worry, the third child is still young and doesn't recognize anyone. If you give her to her, you will be her mother. You will give birth to her and raise her. From now on, we will not say anything too much, and she will call you mother alone."

Yu Shuang spoke incoherently and couldn't get a word in.

The mother-in-law's expression suddenly changed, and she was about to cry, "Sister, who wouldn't feel the pain of a piece of flesh falling from your own body?! There's really no way! "Aunt" means "aunt," and "nong" means "nong" with the third tone. In local dialect, "niece" means "daughter." If you really don't care... this child can only... can only be given away..."

ah!

Yu Shuang was so frightened that he almost lost his soul.

Kang Long came back from buying water and walked in. His mother-in-law squeezed Yu Shuang's hand, told her to think about it, and then stood up and left.

Yu Shuang sat there for a long time, unable to recover. When Yu Qing had insisted on having a third child, she had anticipated the potential for harming innocent people. But she hadn't anticipated the outcome, which would ultimately lead to a replacement. She was the new donkey they had chosen. Judging by her mother-in-law's tone, it seemed they might actually give the child away if she didn't take the third child. Her aunt was her aunt, her daughter was her daughter, and her heart ached. Her sister-in-law, raising two children and two elderly parents on her own, was a heavy burden, and she could understand their desperate decision. But it all came so suddenly.

It's not about money.

She and Kang Long had never formed a covenant, maintaining a loose relationship. This was all to preserve their individual freedom. Having a child was no big deal; it would be a lifelong bond! She had envied the mother-son bond before, but she wasn't prepared.

Kang Long asked, "What is she doing?"

Yu Shuang answered directly: "They want to adopt the child...to me."

Kang Long was speechless. There was no such thing in his world.

Yu Shuang looked at Kang Long's expressionless face, deeply understanding his shock. How could a liberal like him accept a child, especially someone else's? Furthermore, Yu Shuang knew that if she accepted the child, her relationship with Kang Long would likely change. Even if he was willing, she couldn't bring him into trouble.

"What are you going to do?" Kang Long asked.

"I don't know." At this moment, Yu Shuang was more confused than Hamlet.

"What about adoption? What about not adopting?" Kang Long offered a way of thinking.

Yu Shuang looked dejected. "If they accept me, I'll go crazy. If they don't, they'll send the child away."

Kang Long was silent again.

Shi Tongguang married a woman named Liu, whose family was quite wealthy. He was eager to announce it to the world, posting wedding photos everywhere. Unfortunately, Yu Rui saw it and was quite unhappy. However, Shi's marriage gave Yu Rui the motivation to move forward. She told herself that she couldn't continue like this.

She'd rested enough, she'd been through enough grief, but she was still a warrior. She planned to get closer to Sister Meng, to emulate her. Yu Rui wanted to straighten out the relationships between them first. For example, she needed to check in with Liangcai. She also had something to ask him, work-related. She'd been grateful the first time he'd introduced her to the TV station, but when she saw how Yu Meng was being treated, she felt wronged.

She was not treated so well in the beginning.

Although she was not 100% sure about the relationship between Yu Meng's beauty salon and Liangcai, many things were almost obvious. He had just divorced, had no talent, and his family background was just so-so. How could he suddenly rise to prominence?

Needless to say, there is someone behind this.

Yu Rui decided to give it a try.

They met again at the beach. Liangcai showed up. He was a good lover, a good friend, a good brother. But this time, Yu Rui didn't have the same sentimental feelings as the last time they met. Thinking back, Liangcai must have been connected to the dream during their last meeting at the concert hall.

"You haven't changed much." He spoke first.

"You've changed a lot."

"oh?"

"You look younger and more radiant," Yu Rui smiled. She added, "It must be something good."

"What do you want to say?"

"Congratulations on your promotion."

He chuckled and didn't respond. He could sense the anger in her words. A sudden meeting with such a firm attitude meant it couldn't be okay. Liangcai guessed that she was probably dissatisfied with her last job and wanted to change.

This is not difficult.

"I'm sorry for taking the trouble to come and congratulate you," he said.

She had to come clean.

"Yu Meng is my sister."

Liangcai's heart skipped a beat. It was the first time he'd connected the two Yus. It was an oversight. Yu Meng rarely mentioned her hometown, and the few times she did mention it were always lighthearted. He did know Yu Rui's hometown, but it had been so long that he couldn't remember it clearly.

"Really?"

"Neighbor, childhood friend."

"One father and one mother?"

"That's not the case." Yu Rui said.

Liangcai pondered in silence, sipping his tea. He didn't find the matter difficult to handle. He believed that even if he revealed the whole truth, Yu Meng wouldn't care. They had both experienced a lot, so the past didn't matter. He looked at Yu Rui's expression, and it seemed that she cared a lot. It was understandable. She was still young and perhaps unwilling to admit that she had been his lover. In fact, their relationship at that time was a secret. Only God and the earth knew it. Yu Rui put her hand to her mouth, made a zipper gesture, and smiled.

Liang Cai smiled and said, "I have always respected history."

"Sister Meng may not think so."

"She knows?"

"Probably not."

"Are you here today just to talk about this?" Liangcai put away his smile.

"I want to reach a consensus with you."

"oh?"

"Don't let Sister Meng know about the past."

"As long as you don't tell me."

"Of course I won't say that. She is my sister and I respect her," said Yu Rui.

Liangcai put down the teacup and said, "It was nothing originally. Now it seems like they are deliberately hiding something."

"I'm afraid she'll think too much and affect your relationship."

"Thank you for your concern." Liang Cai said, "Is there anything else?"

"I want to find another job."

Liangcai nodded and pondered.

"Don't be too tired." Yu Rui went further.

"Not acting anymore?"

"Three parts hard work and seven parts destiny, I see through it."

"Great enlightenment."

After a pause, Yu Rui asked, "What are you going to do?"

"Ask and I'll tell you." Liangcai stood up and poured water.

"I mean you and Sister Meng."

"She's fine."

"And then?" Yu Rui asked boldly. This was what she cared about.

"She asked you to ask?"

"Of course not." Yu Rui said, "I've already told you that she doesn't know about our past relationship, and it's best if she doesn't know in the future."

“Live in the present moment.”

"You won't marry her," Yu Rui said, addressing the key point. She'd known this about him since they'd been together. He hadn't told her directly, but she'd guessed it from his every word and gesture. After his first marriage, he had no plans to remarry.

"It's hard to say," Liangcai said. This was the truth, but also a cunning statement. Broadly speaking, what is certain? Nothing. No one knows if they'll still be alive tomorrow, nor does anyone know if the Earth will still exist in the future. But in a narrow sense, "it's hard to say" simply means being unwilling to make a promise.

Yu Rui didn't ask any more questions. She knew that getting a promise from Liangcai was harder than climbing to the sky. If he wanted to do something, he would have done it for you without you having to ask. If he didn't want to do something or couldn't do it, you wouldn't get what you wanted even if you asked again.

When you are in the world, you have no choice.

"I always cause you trouble." Finally, Yu Rui felt strange.

"We can't meet each other anymore?"

"We can keep in touch after we get to know each other again," Yu Rui said. She was determined to help Sister Meng. She didn't want Yu Meng to feel like she'd picked up a leftover from a close friend. She had to borrow Yu Meng's ladder to success.
