Chapter 133: A Revolt

Ava lied.

And she did it without blinking an eyelid.

Phil was alive.

And he was still acting like a damn animal.

Baba insisted it was the stress.

But Ava didn’t believe her.

Something else must have happened. Something must have triggered it.

"Why did you attempt to frame my brother?"

"It wasn’t me," Jude answered. The man was trying to act calm but Ava knew he was scared of her. "I already told you. I did what the higher ups told me to do. I am but a small fish in the pond, V. There are things that I didn’t know. A LOT of them."

"So why did you give me Samuel’s address?"

"I’ve met him. We were friends."

"Lie."

"I’m not lying. Look... I can’t just act friendly in front of everyone else. You know how my family is."

Of course, Ava knew. This man came from a family of shifters that had served Trillium for generations. This was the reason why Jude actually became a head even though he was not even in his thirties.

At the end of the day, politics is politics.

"You can’t take Samuel," Jude said. So far, the man wasn’t showing any signs of lying. "That would be akin to declaring a war against Trillium. Even a Lycan Prince cannot protect you if you do that V."

"I am not planning to." Ava said. That was just one of her concerns right now. A few hours back, they just did some tests on Baby Gabi to check if his father’s blood was something that he inherited.

"Good."

"But that is not the only reason why you gave me that address right?" she asked. "You wanted me to owe you, yes?"

"That— "

"What is it Jude? You want a higher position? You want to use my expertise in obtaining a better record?"

"I— "

"Come on, Jude. We all know how Trillium basically made me their assassin. Trillium isn’t doing anything to me because they know that tattling means accepting the fact that I have killed for them. Trillium has so much dirt on me that they are confident, I wouldn’t betray them." Ava leaned back, this time she smiled. "So... what is it Jude? Why give me that address? What do you want?"

"What made you think you can give me what I want?"

"Oh please... the Caro family owns a five hundred fortune company. You can have everything that you want in this world. Except... magick."

Jude gulped. For the first time, he looked uncomfortable. Then he put the wine glass down and sat on his bed.

"I think the witches want to control Trillium." Jude said. "And I think they might do something about the families... that have been loyal to the cause that Trillium wanted to have."

Ava snorted. "So the witches wanted a war? Sounds... exciting."

"You don’t understand. A war is already brewing with the Lycan Kingdom. Once a war starts there, I am pretty sure that the leadership inside Trillium would change."

"And this is based on ... what?"

"They sent Samuel and the other... loyal ones away."

"They?"

"The Deputy Director of Science and Tech is a witch. She’s the one who is protecting Amore Mclary and her son. She’s close to the Deputy Director of Administration and Intelligence."

"And just because they are close, you are already assuming that they are going to cause some chaos? Do you really hate witches that much?"

"You don’t understand. They started the Hybrid project. I think... I think the real purpose of the project is so they could create shifters that would protect them."

Ava squinted. This didn’t answer her questions about Phil so they were all useless to her. Seeing her reaction, Jude sighed.

He added, "You haven’t seen the experiments. I did. I saw them... they were not just using innocents V. They were using ’homeless’ people. And when I look into it, those ’homeless’ people were somehow veteran soldiers."

Ava frowned. She recalled the dead Hybrids that they were able to get from Romeo’s house when she was kidnapped.

"I told my father about this. But that witch... tsk... he trusted her. That woman saved him in the past and now, she cannot do anything wrong. Fucking witch."

"I am a witch Jude."

"A witch who hates witches. A witch who hates witches enough to kill them. A witch who works with Lycans."

"So this is why you... are doing me a favor."

"No. I was just hoping that when the time comes... you would help me."

Ava observed the man’s appearance.

There were only two possibilities from the things that she could feel from him.

First, it’s either the man was telling the truth. Or, he believes he is telling the truth.

"Witches have been oppressed for hundreds of years,"Ava said. "I wouldn’t be surprised if one day they just decide to revolt, you know."

The treatment that the witches received from the Lycans was enough reason for them to revolt.

Slavery and the discrimination was still rampant. Worse is, those people actually believed that they were doing the right thing.

"So what do you have so far?" she asked. To be honest, Jude’s statement made her a little curious.

"For some reason, they want to have you back," Jude said. "They have images of you going inside that building and they wanted you to answer a few questions about it."

"Ah... so they were scared. The explosion was designed to kill witches." Ava said.

So witches were building an army of fake shifters while Lycans were making explosives and weapons that could easily melt a witch.

Interesting.

It was so interesting, it made Ava smile.

"So, who gave them the pictures?" Ava asked.

"I guess you already know the answer to your question."

"Another Lycan family."

Jude nodded. Then he said, "From what I heard, that Family didn’t just give the images to Trillium. They even shared it to the Chinese Triad, the Jamaicans, Itallians, Japanese Mafias and Russian Mob."

"Geez..." Ava shrugged. Then she smiled. "How scary!"
